The staircase led straight down ten meters to the basement, a dark chamber filled with ten or so rooms, each around forty to fifty square meters.

In the past, this was a dedicated storage for gold and treasures, thus finely furnished. But in recent years, all the treasures had been transferred overseas, leaving the rooms empty.

Dozens of rooms encircled a large central hall, complete with sofas, seats, tables, and a bright crystal chandelier overhead - considerably brighter than the smaller rooms.

When Walter entered the basement, there was no sight of the bodyguard in the hall. Because of its secretive nature, and considering Tara Summer was just a woman, Walter left only one guard to keep watch.

This guard was a former soldier. It was unlikely that she would pose any threat to him... or escape.
