After some thought, Gu Xijiu left the vicinity. She did not immediately go with the soldiers, however. Instead, she went to see Zhao Fengxing and his men to ask for their secret protection of the clan leader in the temple. Zhao Fengxing agreed, so she left. She wanted to ask Di Fuyi for help, but he already left to the city center to find out more information about the place. He had not come back yet.

Knowing that she was about to attend to the invitation, Zhao Fengxing was worried for her safety. "Xijiu, I will go with you," he offered. The governor seemed like an evil man, so he was worried that Gu Xijiu might be harmed.

Nonetheless, Gu Xijiu rejected his kind offer. "Don't worry. I can go by myself." She could not risk offending the man. After all, she needed to make sure that the villagers had a place to stay, so she had to respond to his invitation.
