"So what are you guys doing out here?" Arthur asked his tone as always dull, almost emotionless if not for the fact that his voice was slightly higher pitched than usual.
"We just like taking long walks in the forest, it's calming you know?" Alice said her pitch high as she explained to Arthur excitedly.
"Right…" Arthur said as he gave the two a look over.
They did look like they had worn clothes suited for walking through the cold forest during the winter.
'Not like they need them.'
"So what about you? What brings you so deep in the forest?" Alice questioned as she got closer to Arthur.
"I like hunting, was looking to see if I can find any rabbits or deer," Arthur replied as he motioned to the bow and arrows on his back with his head.
Alice's eyes seemed to slightly shine at this as she nodded her head.
"That's so cool, but be careful so that people don't see you. It's not hunting season you know? You could get in serious trouble." Alice replied as she held up her index finger and shook it left and right as if she were a mother chiding her problem child.
"Right, well unless you two out me then I think I'll be safe," Arthur replied before releasing a small chuckle.
It sounded horribly fake, completely forced and all three of them could tell.
A small smile graced Jasper's face as he lightly shook his head.
"Alright, we have to get going, Alice. It was nice meeting you, Arthur. Looks like the rumors are true." Jasper said as he turned around.
"Rumors?" Arthur questioned before the man could fully turn around.
"They say you're the nicest guy ever. I mean we met in the middle of a forest and you still greeted us and talked with us so politely. Though I do have to say that it's quite dumb." Alice said before releasing a small giggle at the end of her words.
"I already met you at the library, you didn't seem like a bad person." Whilst he replied outwardly, inwardly he thought differently.
'Even if I wanted to, how was I supposed to run from a vampire? If I knew beforehand then maybe I could hide my scent but you two appeared so suddenly that I had no time to prepare at all.'
"Right, I'm just saying you should be more careful in the future, you don't know what kind of people you could meet in the middle of the forest. Right, Jasper?" Alice said before turning her head toward her brother.
"Right, well then goodbye Arthur."
"See you later!"
"Right, goodbye Alice, Jasper," Arthur said as he turned around and started walking away from the two.
After around a minute of walking in a random direction, Arthur turned his head to look back and saw nothing but the lone trees of the forest.
*Sigh*
'I've already met her twice in just two days when I didn't have any interaction with her before yesterday. Her or any of the other Cullen's for that matter.' Arthur thought as he continued his search for his next prey.
His steps grew silent whilst his figure became slightly hunched.
Minutes passed by and right before the right hand of the small watch in his hand touched the next hour, Arthur finally returned back to his old abandoned-looking house.
Placing his catch, two small snow rabbits in the freezer, he took the rest of his previous catch and chopped off another leg.
'Eating two days in a row. It's been a while.' Arthur thought as a small soft smile appeared on his expression.
Walking toward the stove, he placed the rabbit leg on it before crouching down and grabbing a few half-charred logs before placing them inside the stove and using a lighter and a piece of newspaper, lighting them on fire.
'Good, it already caught fire.' Arthur thought as he waited until the stove was burning hot and then started rotating the rabbit leg so that it would be equally roasted on all sides.
After a few minutes of roasting the leg, Arthur took it out of the fire and bit into it.
'It's as bland as always.' He thought however his mouth didn't stop, continuing to bite into the slightly burnt meat.
It was gone in less than ten bites.
*Sigh*
Releasing a soft sigh, Arthur turned around and flung the rabbit leg bone, it flew in a perfect arc through the air before landing on a small trash can in the kitchen.
'If only this body of mine enhanced my brain as well, that way I could have found a way, somehow to live better in this situation but all I have is a strong body and senses. My intelligence is average, I have to read a book more than thirty times to actually manage to memorize it.' Arthur thought as he headed back to his bed and lying down.
Covering his body with a slim blank, he closed his eyes. He didn't have anything to do today so he spent the entire day sleeping.
Maybe it was because his body was almost always starving, maybe it was because the body was weird in a way, superhuman as others would call it however Arthur could enter periods of hibernation.
If he wanted to he could sleep as long as he wanted to and wake exactly when he wanted to.
'At least it helps endure the hunger.' Arthur thought to himself depreciatingly as his eyes snapped open.
It was now Sunday, another day where he would have even less to do than yesterday, at least today he wouldn't have to go out in the cold and hunt as he already had enough meat for the week.
Surviving on a small rabbit leg a day was doable for Arthur, that however didn't mean that It was easy, far from it in fact, the pangs of hunger were always there, a constant reminder of how his living situation.
'At least it's better when I'm at school.' Arthur thought.
