40% Legacy of the Mechanical Emperor / Chapter 10: Training Breakthrough and the Delivery

Capítulo 10: Training Breakthrough and the Delivery

The next morning, Edwin woke up as usual to a knock on his door. A maid's polite voice called out, "Young Master Edwin, will you be taking your breakfast in your room or at the dining hall?"

Edwin rubbed his temples, contemplating briefly before replying, "I'll join the others in the dining hall today."

It was a rare decision. He seldom ate with his family in the pat few days, but today he felt the need to break his usual routine as he had something to tell them. After dressing in a simple tunic, he made his way to the dining hall, where his family was already seated.

Lucas, his second brother, was the first to notice him. With his sharp green eyes and short brown hair, Lucas exuded confidence and curiosity. The moment Edwin entered, Lucas raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. Their father's two concubines, Lady Mirabelle and Lady Juliette, were seated across the table with their respective children. Mirabelle, a fair-haired woman with a sweet yet insincere demeanor, whispered something to Juliette, who had raven-black hair and a calculating gaze. Edwin's younger siblings, dressed in simple yet noble attire, fidgeted as they watched him take his seat beside Lucas.

"You've been scarce lately, Edwin," Lucas said, his tone light but inquisitive. "Why haven't you been joining us for breakfast? It feels like I haven't seen you in days."

Lady Mirabelle chimed in, her voice dripping with feigned concern. "Yes, Edwin, we've missed your presence at the table. What have you been so busy with?"

Juliette nodded, though her eyes glinted with disinterest. "Indeed. You've been quite elusive."

Edwin maintained a calm expression and replied curtly, "Just researching a few things." His tone left little room for further questions.

The concubines exchanged a glance but refrained from prying further, their curiosity quickly waning. Edwin, even before his transmigration, had always been a quiet and overlooked presence in the Umbracrest household. That reputation served him well now.

As the servants brought out breakfast—a spread of roasted meats, fresh bread, and an assortment of fruits—Edwin decided to speak. "I'll be in my workshop for the next several days," he said, his voice steady. "If you don't find me around, don't come looking."

Lucas raised an eyebrow at the abrupt declaration but said nothing, merely nodding. The concubines seemed mildly surprised but chose not to comment. After all, Edwin had always been something of a shut-in, a trait that made his presence—or absence—easy to ignore.

Once the meal concluded, Edwin sought out the head butler, Alistair, a distinguished man with a stern demeanor. Alistair managed the castle with unwavering discipline and was deeply respected by both nobles and servants alike.

"Young Master Edwin," Alistair greeted him with a respectful bow. "How may I assist you today?"

Edwin got straight to the point. "Prepare and deliver enough food and water to last me at least ten days. Have it sent to my workshop. I'll send you the location."

Alistair's expression didn't falter as he nodded. "As you wish, young master. The provisions will be ready within a few hours."

Satisfied, Edwin nodded and left. He wandered around the castle grounds, watching the knights train and observing the daily routines of the servants. The familiar sights and sounds were a stark contrast to the solitude of his workshop. After some time, he made his way back to resume his training.

---

By afternoon, Edwin had worked himself into a sweat, perfecting the knight breathing techniques while refining his swordsmanship in the workshop's basement. Suddenly, the mechanical robot interrupted his routine with its monotone report.

"Master, the provisions have arrived. They are at the front of the building."

Edwin furrowed his brow and stepped outside. In front of the two-story workshop stood four servants, each carrying large trays piled with food and water. The trays gleamed under the sunlight, showcasing the castle's polished silverware and expertly prepared dishes.

As Edwin approached, his blonde hair catching the light, the servants quickly bowed. "Young Master, we've brought the supplies as ordered," one of them said in a respectful tone.

In the Umbracrest household, even though Edwin wasn't as prominent or talented as his siblings, the servants knew better than to show any disrespect. To insult a noble, even one of lesser importance, was a grave offense that could cost them their lives.

Edwin nodded and gestured toward the door. "Set them down here and leave."

The servants moved swiftly, placing the trays on the ground before bowing again and retreating without a word. Once they were gone, Edwin carried the provisions inside, arranging the food and water in the basement for easy access. He allowed himself a brief meal, savoring the hearty roast beef and sipping a fine wine from the castle's cellars.

---

After resting for half an hour, Edwin resumed his intense training regimen. He practiced with relentless determination, each swing of his sword fueled by the desire to grow stronger. His breathing technique flowed seamlessly, enhancing his stamina and aura. Hours passed, and as the sun began to dip below the horizon, Edwin suddenly felt a surge of energy ripple through his body.

Pausing, he steadied himself, his heart pounding. "What's happening?" he murmured.

The AI's voice echoed. "Congratulations, Master Edwin. You've broken through to mid-level Iron Knight."

Edwin grinned, his gray eyes shining with satisfaction. "Good. Very good."

Invigorated by the breakthrough, he continued training into the evening, the strength of his newfound power pushing him further. By the time he stopped, his muscles ached, but his mind was sharper than ever. The day had been grueling but undeniably fruitful.
