The following afternoon, the Jones family gathered around the living room, each member still processing the whirlwind of the past 24 hours. Ethan, his mom Emily, his dad Adam, and his younger sister Precious had spent the entire day away from the internet, as Emily had suggested. It wasn't easy—especially for Precious, who was glued to her phone at all times—but Emily felt it was important for them to stay grounded. They needed to enjoy their time together without distractions and remember what truly mattered. It had been an adjustment at first, especially for Precious, who complained the entire morning about being off her social media. But by afternoon, she had softened and even enjoyed their time together.
Ethan still felt the weight of the sudden fame that had been thrust upon him, but today had been a reminder that he wasn't just a viral sensation—he was still part of a family that cared about him. That, above all else, kept him centered. He'd spent the day with them, playing board games, laughing over dinner, and watching a movie together. It was almost like life hadn't changed at all.
"Okay, okay," Ethan's dad, Adam, said as he picked up his phone and dialed Bill's number. "We've had our fun. Time to get back to business."
Emily nodded, her eyes narrowing as she sat up straighter. "I know this is all moving quickly, but we need to handle this properly. Ethan's future is at stake."
Adam glanced over at her, understanding the concern. "We'll be careful, Emily. We'll make sure whatever decision we make is the right one."
Precious, who had been sulking on her phone in the corner, looked up. "Are you really going to sign with him?" she asked, her voice a mix of skepticism and excitement. "I mean, Bill is a big deal, right?"
Before Adam could respond, the phone rang, and Bill's voice came through. "Hello, Adam. How's everything? I heard things are moving quickly for Ethan."
Adam smiled faintly, trying to keep things light. "Hey, Bill. Yeah, things are... well, overwhelming, to be honest. But we wanted to get in touch. We've had a chance to look at that resume you sent over."
Bill's voice turned serious. "I understand. I know this is all happening fast. But we're committed to helping Ethan, and we want to be sure he's comfortable with everything. Has he made any decisions yet?"
Emily stood up from the couch, crossing her arms. "Not yet. But we need to be clear about one thing, Bill. If you're going to sign my son, you better protect him. This business can be brutal, and I'm not going to sit back and watch him get chewed up by it."
Bill's voice softened, reassuring but with an undercurrent of urgency. "Of course, Emily. You have my word. I've been in this business for a long time, and I know how to take care of my clients. I won't let anything happen to Ethan. He's in good hands."
Emily's gaze didn't soften. "You better. Because if anything goes wrong, I'll be the first one to step in and pull him out. I won't let anyone take advantage of him."
Bill's tone was earnest. "I understand, Emily. And I promise we'll take care of everything. We won't rush Ethan into anything he's not ready for. It's about building a career that lasts."
Ethan, sitting next to his parents, felt a little more at ease after hearing Bill's assurances. But there was still so much uncertainty in the air. He looked over at his father.
"Has Bill's resume been enough for you to make a decision?" Adam asked, flipping through the pages on his tablet.
"Well, I've gone through it," said Ethan's dad. "And Bill's got a pretty good track record. He represents some big names—actors and actresses that have done really well in their careers. But…" He hesitated for a moment before continuing. "There's one thing I noticed, Bill. You don't have any musicians on your roster. No singers."
Bill chuckled, a hint of nervousness in his voice. "That's true, Adam. But I'm always open to expanding my horizons. And after seeing Ethan's video… I believe he has the talent to go far in music."
Ethan's mother wasn't convinced. "But you don't have any musicians, Bill. Why not? And why now, of all times, are you looking to get into music?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Bill replied. "It's not that I don't believe in musicians, Emily. I've just focused on actors and other performers up until now. But Ethan's got something special. This is the first time I've wanted to sign someone in the music industry. His voice… it's unique. People will listen."
Ethan felt a little more reassured, but his mom's protective instincts were still strong.
"Well, I don't care about your past clients, Bill," Emily said sharply. "If you're going to sign Ethan, you better treat him like family. I don't want him taken advantage of like so many other young stars. You get him into the right deals, or you don't get him at all."
Bill's voice was steady, no trace of offense. "I hear you, Emily. I want the best for Ethan, and that's exactly what I'll give him. I'm not here to use him—I'm here to help him build a long-lasting career."
Ethan could tell that Bill was sincere. But the weight of the decision still hung heavy on him. He wanted to make the right choice, but he needed to know that he could trust Bill to take care of him.
"Okay, Bill," Ethan said, finally breaking the silence. "I'll sign, but I need to know I'm in good hands. I'm trusting you."
Bill's voice brightened. "You have my word, Ethan. We'll take it slow, make sure everything is done the right way. I want to see you succeed—your talent deserves that."
As the call ended, Bill's final words lingered in the air. Ethan couldn't help but feel like he was standing on the edge of something big. It wasn't just about the fame anymore—it was about his future.
"Well," Adam said as he put down his phone, "looks like we've got a big decision to make."
Emily stood by the window, looking out, her arms crossed. "We've made it. Just be sure, Bill's not going to forget who's in charge here."
Precious, who had been quiet for a while, finally spoke up. "Guess we'll see how this goes, huh?"
Ethan smiled faintly. "Yeah, we will."
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
