Capítulo 36: An Uneasy Alliance

The West estate, was silent, the house was filed with tension, everywhere is roughened up. 

As Nathan, Scarlett, and Victoria stepped through the shattered entrance, the unease that had settled in their stomachs only grew heavier. The floors were littered with broken glass that spread across the floor, and the faint sounds of whispering voices was heard coming from the study.

Nathan raised a hand, signaling for silence, placing a hand on his lips. Scarlett nodded, holding the files they had risked everything to retrieve. Victoria hesitated but followed closely, her expression a mix of fear and determination.

"Stay behind me," Nathan whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.

They moved cautiously through the sitting room to the front of the study; their footsteps soft against the floor. As they neared the study, the voices became clearer, and Scarlett froze when she recognized one of them.

"Richard," a deep, familiar tone said, cold and clipped.
