Chapter 103: The Furious Gyarados!
The newly evolved Gyarados seemed unusually irritable. To make matters even stranger, it appeared to have gained the ability to fly, a feat uncommon for most Gyarados.
It opened its massive jaws, gathering a devastating white energy that seemed to warp the air around it—a Hyper Beam.
Hikaru frowned. "Gardevoir!"
"Gardevoir!"
A burst of psychic energy surged forth, gripping Gyarados tightly in midair and forcefully pulling it down. At the same time, Silence activated, causing the energy in Gyarados' mouth to dissipate into nothingness.
"ROAR!"
Even with its imposing size and newfound strength, Gyarados was nothing more than a struggling reptile under Gardevoir's control.
But despite being restrained, Gyarados continued to thrash and roar violently, showing no signs of calming down.
Even when Misty approached it, Gyarados bared its fangs at her, snarling aggressively.
"What's wrong, Gyarados? It's me, Misty!" she said, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Gyarados turned its head away, refusing to acknowledge her.
Hikaru sighed. "Better recall it for now. It seems the evolution process has left it a bit... unsettled."
Misty nodded reluctantly and returned Gyarados to its Poké Ball. Her expression fell.
A trainer's bond with their Pokémon was crucial, and Gyarados' hostile behavior felt like a personal failure.
---
Now that things had settled, Hikaru turned his attention to the mischievous Ralts that had somehow appeared beside him.
Unlike Gardevoir during her Ralts stage, this one was lively and bold, even daring to laugh and twirl its skirt playfully.
"Gardevoir?"
Everyone else was equally curious about the little Pokémon. The Ralts didn't seem shy at all; it even began dancing, clearly enjoying the attention.
"Ralts!" it said enthusiastically, gesturing for Hikaru to continue the story from earlier.
Hikaru sighed. He hadn't expected the story to gain such a following.
Even his own Pokémon—Charizard, Greninja, Larvitar, and the others—were staring at him expectantly.
"Alright, alright. I'll tell a bit more," Hikaru relented. "But after this, it's back to training and gym battles!"
---
He picked up where he had left off, weaving a tale about a bullied Magikarp that transformed into a mighty Gyarados and sought revenge on those who wronged it.
"The first thing the newly evolved Gyarados did was confront the Pidgeotto that had once bullied it..."
"Ralts, Ralts!" (Yes, get the bad Pidgeotto!)
The Ralts was completely engrossed, clapping its hands eagerly.
Even Misty, Gardevoir, and Latias were fully immersed, though Latias was clearly enjoying the story for its entertainment value.
After a while, Hikaru abruptly stopped. "That's it for today. Time's up. Everyone, back to training!"
"Ralts?"
The little Pokémon looked utterly bewildered.
"Wait, that's it? You're stopping now?"
---
Charizard, deeply moved by the story, reflected on its own journey and struggles. Misty, however, seemed distracted, likely preoccupied with thoughts about her Gyarados.
Sensing her worry, Hikaru placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "The situation with Gyarados is something only you can resolve. For now, let's focus on training."
Misty's expression hardened with determination. "You're right. I'll work things out with Gyarados—no matter what it takes!"
She had spent the last few minutes thinking it over. She couldn't keep relying on Hikaru for everything. She already owed him so much, and adding more to that debt felt wrong.
---
"Ralts, you should head back," Hikaru said, addressing the small Pokémon that had been tailing him.
"Ralts!" (Not until you finish the story!)
The Ralts, or rather Mew in disguise, was clearly enthralled by Hikaru's storytelling.
Hikaru sighed in exasperation. "Gardevoir, please. Teleport us."
With a burst of psychic energy, Gardevoir teleported the group away, leaving the Ralts alone by the lakeside.
"Ralts..." (Don't go...)
As the little Pokémon's form shimmered, it reverted to its true self—Mew.
"Meow!" (Hehe, found you again, Aura user!)
With a cheeky grin, Mew closed its eyes and vanished into thin air, tracking Hikaru's aura signature with ease.
---
The group reappeared in a forest clearing, only to be greeted by an unexpected sight:
Pangoro and Pancham stood before them.
[Pokémon: Pangoro]
Ability: Iron Fist
Gender: Female
Talent: Elite
Level: 33
Moves: Tackle, Leer, Hammer Arm, Work Up, Low Kick, Circle Throw, Bullet Punch, Thrash, Crunch, Dark Pulse.
A large and intimidating Pangoro was munching on bamboo while its Pancham companion played nearby. Despite its fearsome appearance, Pangoro didn't seem hostile—it simply gestured for them to leave.
Hikaru's eyes lit up. "Level 33? Not bad. This could be a great sparring partner."
Reaching into his bag, he pulled out a specially crafted Fighting-Type energy cube.
The scent immediately caught the attention of both Pokémon. Pancham's eyes sparkled as it tugged on Pangoro's arm.
"Pancham! Pancham!" (Mom, I want that!)
Pangoro sighed, nodding in agreement.
Hikaru smirked. "1v1. If you win, the cubes are yours."
Before he could step forward, Misty interjected. "Let me handle this, Hikaru."
She released Gyarados, fully prepared to take on Pangoro.
Hikaru's brows furrowed as he signaled for Gardevoir to stay alert.
---
"Gyarados, use Aqua Tail!" Misty commanded.
But Gyarados ignored her entirely.
Instead, it unleashed a massive Whirlpool, its spiraling vortex nearly ten meters in diameter, directly at Pangoro.
Pangoro reacted quickly, gathering energy for a Dark Pulse—but the Whirlpool swallowed the attack whole.
The sheer power difference was undeniable.
Pangoro was sent tumbling, knocked out in one hit.
However, Gyarados wasn't done. It turned its attention to the nearby Pancham, charging a Hyper Beam in its maw, its destructive energy warping the very air around it.
To be continued...
