As Ikuyo Kita planned their day's itinerary, she suddenly turned to him with the question.
"Yeah, I have."
Saku replied without hesitation.
"In that case, we can go to the couple's restaurant a bit later."
As she spoke, Ikuyo adjusted their schedule.
"A… couple's restaurant?"
Saku immediately noticed the keyword.
Wasn't going to that kind of place a little much?
They were only pretending to be a couple, after all—no need to take things that far!
"Yep! I heard there's a really popular one that's all over social media. It's perfect for us."
Ikuyo's eyes sparkled at the thought.
"I've been dying to go there and take pictures, but I haven't had a chance until now. Finally, I get to go."
"I see…"
Saku could immediately tell that this "couple's restaurant" was a gimmick designed to reel in couples and drain their wallets.
Ikuyo wanting to go, though, was understandable.
After all, she was always interested in trendy places.
In that case, he'd go with her.
To be honest, he was a bit curious about the place himself.
Part of him was thinking like a good Instagrammer, and part of him wanted to check out somewhere he'd never go on his own.
Since he was aiming for a single-ending life, he couldn't count on getting another opportunity to visit a couple's restaurant.
This seemed like the perfect chance to satisfy his curiosity.
"Alright, let's hit the mall first." Ikuyo revealed the rest of her plan. "Then we can go to the arcade, the couple's restaurant after that, and then…"
"Hold on! Do you really think we can visit that many places in one day?"
Saku interrupted, unable to hold back as she rattled off her list with unrestrained enthusiasm.
Even real couples couldn't manage a date with that many stops, right?
"You're right. Shopping alone takes time." Ikuyo admitted with a nod. "Alright, let's just focus on the first few. After we're done at the restaurant, we'll see if we have time left."
"If we do, we can add another spot."
"Alright."
Though he'd heard that shopping with a girlfriend could be exhausting, Saku was unfazed.
He had the advantage of system-generated stamina boosts and a Stamina Recovery superpower.
Honestly, stamina was an all-purpose attribute.
He needed it for teleporting, using study cards, and all the usual physical activities.

Soon, the two of them arrived at the nearest mall.
"So, did you have anything in mind, or are we just window shopping?" Saku asked as they walked in.
"I actually planned to get some clothes."
Ikuyo glanced at him, explaining her plan.
"Great to have a goal."
Saku sighed with relief.
"Oh, and you have to give me feedback like a boyfriend would! That's a big part of the couple experience."
On the way to the clothing section, Ikuyo reminded him.
"I will," Saku replied, setting expectations. "But I don't know much about fashion, so my advice might not be all that great."
He was good with food critiques, but fashion was way outside his wheelhouse.
"No worries, as long as you're giving an honest opinion." Ikuyo smiled, playfully reminding him, "Don't forget—you're my boyfriend for the day!"
"Alright then."
Hearing her say that, Saku saw no reason to protest further.

"By the way, Saku-senpai, what's your favorite color?"
Once inside a clothing store, Ikuyo held up a white T-shirt to herself and checked her reflection, casually asking about his preferences.
"I used to like blue, white, and black. Don't really have a favorite anymore," Saku answered honestly.
"What changed? Was it something big, or did you just outgrow them?" Ikuyo asked, curious.
"...I guess it's just something that happened with age."
Saku thought for a moment before answering.
"But I still have a slight preference for those colors."
"Got it. So, what do you think—would this T-shirt look good on me?"
Ikuyo asked, holding up the shirt for his opinion.
"It seems pretty average. It's one of those basic pieces that wouldn't stand out, but it wouldn't look bad either," Saku remarked. "But you should probably try it on to see for yourself."
"I'll skip that—it's hard to try things on since I'm wearing a skirt today."
With that, Ikuyo put the white T-shirt back.
"Alright, let's look at something else."
As soon as Saku spoke, Ikuyo suddenly stopped and looked him over with interest.
"What?"
Being scrutinized so closely made Saku feel a bit uneasy.
"How about I buy you an outfit?" Ikuyo proposed with a grin.
"Buy me one?"
Saku repeated, startled.
"Sure! I mean, it's easier for you to change into something than it is for me in a skirt." Ikuyo's excitement grew. "Think of it as a thank-you gift for being my boyfriend for the day."
Saku looked good as he was, but not dressing him up would be a waste.
"...You don't have to buy me anything, but if you'd like to help me pick something out, I'd be fine with that."
After a slight hesitation, Saku agreed.
Letting her choose clothes for him wasn't a big deal—it wasn't like holding hands or anything that felt romantic. No reason to refuse.
"Alright, then let's head over to the men's section."
Seeing him agree, Ikuyo eagerly led the way.
Saku trailed after her at a steady pace.
Ignoring the enthusiastic recommendations from the store clerks, Ikuyo went straight into picking clothes for him based on her own ideas.
Watching her, Saku couldn't shake a weird feeling, as if she actually was his girlfriend.
But he knew it was only an illusion.
He was destined to walk alone.
"Here we go, Saku-senpai—try this outfit on first."
Once she'd chosen a set of clothes, Ikuyo handed them to him, phone already in hand and ready.
"I'm going to get a good photo."
"Alright."
