Yang Feng stood there, staring at the letter in his hands. It was from Ao Xing.
"Brother Feng,
I wanted to keep you company today, but my uncle came to take me back to the Dragon Nest.
When my father heard about the ancestral dragon seal, he was so excited that he wanted to come himself. But due to his position, my uncle stopped him and came in his place.
I hope you understand that I couldn't refuse him, no matter what.
According to my uncle, I must enter the ancestral tomb and accept the legacy of our ancestors.
I don't know how long it will take, but with a conservative estimate, it could be more than three years.
So, Brother Feng, take care of yourself while I'm gone.
I know you'll become someone great, but please—don't fool around with other women. You are mine and mine alone."
Yang Feng read the letter and felt the blood drain from his face. The words lingered in his mind, and past memories flashed before his eyes.
As he read Ao Xing's words, his mind drifted back to the first time they met, so many years ago.
At that time Yang Feng was only seven years old.
Back then, Yang Feng had been searching the forest for medicinal herbs to help his sick mother when he stumbled upon a strange creature.
It was a small, silver-scaled, serpentine being, barely half a meter long, with tiny horns and claws.
Terrified, Yang Feng fled in panic, his young heart racing in fear before finally gathering the courage to look back.
As a child he was very curious and of course fearless.
When he returned to the spot, the creature was still there. Its eyes were closed, but the faint sound of pained groaning came from its trembling body.
Upon closer inspection, Yang Feng saw that the creature's horn was broken, and several of its scales were cracked.
Despite his fear, Yang Feng approached the creature carefully, his hands trembling.
He noticed it was injured and unable to move properly. Feeling a mix of pity and fear, he pulled out some of the wild fruits he'd gathered earlier and placed them carefully on the ground.
The creature's nose twitched, and its silver-gray eyes opened, meeting his.
It didn't react with hostility; instead, it studied him for a long moment. Then, slowly, it raised itself up with a groan, its body stiff with pain.
Yang Feng took a cautious step back.
The creature seemed to understand his fear, paused and tilted it's head to look at him. After a moment, it gestured at the fruit with a low growl, then pointed to its mouth.
Yang Feng, though scared, understood. He stepped aside to open some distance, watching curiously as it ate the fruit with relish.
From that moment on, Yang Feng returned every day to bring food, slowly becoming close with the strange creature.
On the fifth day when Yang Feng came to feed the creature, there was no one present at the site. At first Yang Feng thought that it was bored and had gone out for a stroll.
So he waited for creature, but till the sun had gone down not even a shadow of creature came.
Yang Feng thought that creature died like his father, so he cried there for half an hour before going back.
When his mother saw Yang Feng's red swollen eyes and asked about what happened.
Yang Feng told her everything, to which she said that silver creature might miss its parents, so it had gone back home.
But three years ago, Ao Xing transferred to his school.
That was when he finally discovered the truth, the small silver-scaled creature was no ordinary animal—it was Ao Xing, a space dragon.
From that day onward, Ao Xing had never left his side.
She moved in with him and his mother, and despite her mysterious heritage, she had become a beloved part of their family.

Yang Feng placed down the letter, his heart heavy with emotion. He folded it carefully and tucked it into his pocket.
Looking over at the side table, his eyes fell on his Star Net watch.
Opening it, he saw several messages from his mother. She had texted him repeatedly, worried about him since she couldn't contact him after the Astral Veil.
The messages were full of concern:
"Only one minute left! Best of luck, Feng'er. You don't have to risk your life, just do your best."
"Feng'er, how are you? Are you injured during the Astral Veil?"
"Why aren't you replying, honey?"
"Feng'er? Honey?"
After that there was no message.
/It seems Xing'er told mother about my condition, so she stopped texting. / Yang Feng thought, smiling faintly.
The last message was from Mr. Sheng Li:
"Student Yang,
Miss Ao informed me that you agreed to enter our Skyfire Beastmaster Institute. Please come to the Beastmaster Guild at 11 o'clock for further discussion."
Yang Feng glanced at the time—he still had an hour before the meeting. He quickly replied, confirming he'd be on time. Then, he dialed his mother's ID for a video call.
After a few rings, the call connected. His mother's face appeared on the screen.
She was a beautiful woman in her forties, with black hair tied neatly in a bun and deep black eyes. Though there were a few wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, they only added to her charm.
She looked worried, and before Yang Feng could speak, she immediately began.
"Feng'er, are you all right?"
"I, I'm so sorry… mom wasn't there with you."
Her voice was choked with emotion, and her eyes were red, as though she might cry at any moment. Yang Feng quickly reassured her, his heart aching at the sight of her distressed face. After a while, she calmed down.
"My flight will arrive in the evening, around 5 o'clock. Ms. Yilian heard about your injury and immediately booked a ticket for me," she said, her voice softening with relief after Yang Feng coaxed her.
Yang Feng smiled widely. "That's great, Mom. I have a surprise for you when you arrive."
"I can't wait to know what it is, but I have to go now—the ship is about to enter the wormhole." She quickly waved before ending the call.
Yang Feng set his watch down, a sense of calm washing over him.
He got up, changed his clothes, and made his way to the lobby.
After completing some paperwork for his discharge, he stepped out of the hospital and took a deep breath.
The cool air filled his lungs, and he walked toward the Beastmaster Guild.
The relation between humans and other races isn't neccesarily bad. It is a bit complicated and will berevealed in future.
