Liu Ziyu's complexion was paler than anyone else's, rendering the red mark on his neck all the more pronounced.
"How could he have done that... How is it even possible?"
Just moments ago, he had witnessed Wanyan Muye's seemingly clear yet incredibly swift and oppressive strike, and he realized he could never hope to match Wanyan Muye's prowess; he likely wouldn't even be able to withstand a second blow.
Yet, such a formidable opponent had been defeated by Lin Xi!
Reflecting on his previous arrogance towards Lin Xi and their prior agreement, he suddenly found himself breathless, gasping as he collapsed backward, fainting in the process.
"How could he have accomplished this?"
Qin Xiyue's beautiful eyes widened to their fullest, her shock dispelling any lingering feelings of shame. Lin Xi's previously irksome calm demeanor now struck her with overwhelming force; it was not indolence, but genuine confidence and humility. How could he make such precise predictions and land a strike on Wanyan Muye's foot without even seeing his movements?
This had nothing to do with skill, strength, or courage; even if one had eyes in the back of their head, they would have no time to react. Yet Lin Xi had managed it, leaving Wanyan Muye unable to withdraw his foot in time.
Only one person remained unfazed: Jiang Xiaoyi, who had witnessed Lin Xi's incredible feats before. Watching Lin Xi triumph over such a powerful adversary, he trembled with excitement, thinking this was the strength of a destined hero. However, he understood he could not express this, leaving him feeling quite uncomfortable, his expression oddly peculiar.
...
Lin Xi had struck Wanyan Muye's foot with the blunt end of the broken spear, yet Wanyan Muye, now unsteady and seated on the ground, had clearly lost in the eyes of all present.
However, just as even Liu Ziyu believed Lin Xi had secured victory and was on the verge of losing consciousness from shame and anger, Wanyan Muye, rising once more, looked at Lin Xi and raised his wooden sword again, intently declaring, "Come again!"
A wave of astonishment swept through the crowd!
Even the timid Meng Bai and Jiang Yuer turned pale, pointing a trembling finger at Wanyan Muye, exclaiming, "You are shameless!"
Lin Xi was momentarily taken aback. Although he had utilized his abilities to perceive the opponent's foot, he had pondered for a long time and realized that this was indeed the only opportunity he had throughout their entire confrontation. Yet now, having seized this chance, the undeniable fact remained: Wanyan Muye had already lost.
"Do you possess no sense of shame?" Qin Xiyue trembled with indignation, her beautiful face resembling a layer of ice as she glared at Wanyan Muye. "You should know that if we were truly wielding weapons, your foot would already be punctured with a gaping wound."
Wanyan Muye glanced at Qin Xiyue, his expression unyielding as he replied, "Even with a wound, my combat strength remains intact. In a genuine battlefield, would one cease to fight merely due to a wound on their foot?"
Lin Xi stared at Wanyan Muye in disbelief, muttering, "I called you shameless before, but I never anticipated you could be so brazen... to speak such words with such rationality and bravado."
"Before our clash, I stated that regardless of shamefulness, strength ultimately prevails. The current situation is that you believe I have lost, yet I refuse to concede," Wanyan Muye continued to glare at Lin Xi. "If you truly can defeat me, then once should suffice to do so a second time. I advise you: never allow your opponent the chance to rise and retaliate on the battlefield."
After all this, he had lost yet refused to acknowledge it, instead lecturing Lin Xi?
Qin Xiyue was utterly perplexed by this, tugging at Lin Xi's sleeve. "Lin Xi, ignore him. If he continues to be unreasonable, let's call for more people to ensure he cannot rise again!"
"Then I shall engage in combat with Lin Xi as well." Wanyan Muye disregarded her, gesturing to Lin Xi as if inviting him to continue.
"How can a person be so shameless?" Qin Xiyue, oblivious to how her earlier action of pulling Lin Xi's sleeve appeared rather affectionate, was consumed by her anger. She knew she was no match for Wanyan Muye, leaving her trembling with frustration.
...
Since joining Jiang Yuer by the side of Hua Jiyue and Meng Bai, Gao Yanan had remained quietly observant.
Upon hearing this, her brows furrowed, and she approached Wanyan Muye, pointing to a small hill behind him. "My dear brother, let us converse further behind."
Qin Xiyue turned to see Gao Yanan stepping forward, momentarily taken aback, while Lin Xi was also puzzled, uncertain of what Gao Yanan meant by her statement.
The most bewildered of all was Wanyan Muye.
He regarded the tall and youthful student from Qingluan Academy, asking in a low voice, "What do you mean?"
"You'll find out if you come with me."
Gao Yanan strode past him, leaving behind a remark: "If you accompany me, I can arrange for him to fight you again. If you dare not come, then so be it; you would be less than a woman."
Wanyan Muye's brow furrowed deeply, and without further ado, he turned to follow her.
"Lin Xi, you all stay back." Lin Xi, too, was troubled by Gao Yanan's words, as she waved her pale hand without turning around, adding another comment.
"What exactly do you wish to discuss with me privately?" Following Gao Yanan over the hill, Wanyan Muye halted, realizing that the gazes of everyone behind them were now obscured, rendering them unable to hear their conversation. He turned to the attractive yet peculiarly behaving student from Qingluan Academy.
"It's nothing much."
Gao Yanan glanced around and replied, "I merely find you exceedingly irritating and wish to give you a beating without anyone witnessing it."
"You wish to strike me?" Wanyan Muye, taken aback by the seemingly delicate Gao Yanan, felt an absurdity wash over him.
However, Gao Yanan showed no inclination for idle chatter, charging directly at Wanyan Muye with her bare hands, suddenly accelerating as if released from a bowstring, aiming straight for his midsection.
Wanyan Muye's expression hardened as he slightly sidestepped, delivering a direct punch toward Gao Yanan.
Though he deemed the situation utterly ridiculous, he would not simply stand and be struck by a student from Qingluan Academy.
"Smack!"
Gao Yanan's hand sliced through the air, meeting Wanyan Muye's fist.
Wanyan Muye's expression shifted instantly, the absurdity morphing into an even greater incredulity. His arm went numb, and his fist felt as if it had been shattered, losing all sensation.
The tremendous impact sent his entire body reeling backward, leaving deep footprints in the ground.
This seemingly delicate and tall girl from Qingluan Academy... her cultivation and strength far exceeded his!
In his line of sight, Gao Yanan soared through the air, her palm descending toward his chest with an unsettling calmness, as if performing an inconsequential task. Yet, in Wanyan Muye's eyes, this demeanor appeared terrifyingly formidable. His face turned pale, and as his left hand instinctively swung out to strike her, she effortlessly deflected it.
"Smack!"
A dull thud resonated on his chest as Gao Yanan's other hand struck him.
His legs buckled beneath him, a wave of nauseating blood and excruciating pain surged within him.
Horror and agony flickered in his eyes as he opened his mouth to release a cry, but just then, Gao Yanan's gentle fist struck his throat.
This seemingly gentle blow stifled his cry, causing his face to turn a deep shade of purple as he collapsed helplessly onto his back.
...
"What on earth does Gao Yanan intend to do?"
Lin Xi and Qin Xiyue exchanged worried glances at the distant small hill.
Just as Lin Xi could no longer contain his curiosity and was about to investigate... not much time had passed when Gao Yanan and Wanyan Muye reappeared.
Leading the way was a somewhat limping Wanyan Muye, following behind Gao Yanan.
"What transpired?" Those on either side inquired of their returning companions.
Gao Yanan's response was remarkably calm, "We simply had a discussion, and he conceded defeat, leaving us with his provisions before departing."
Wanyan Muye remained silent, occasionally opening his mouth but saying nothing, his expression somewhat unnatural.
"Wanyan, what does this mean? You should at least say something to clarify the situation. By remaining silent, you leave us to assume we must forfeit all our supplies?" A student from Thunder Academy, sporting a bruise on his face, grew impatient after multiple unanswered questions and exclaimed, "Did this girl cast some spell on you?"
"This brother." Gao Yanan, who had been quietly standing, slightly furrowed her brow, addressing the Thunder Academy student. "Shall we discuss this further?"
"Very well, I shall see what this is all about." The Thunder Academy student replied sharply, glaring at Gao Yanan before striding toward the small hill.
"Do not approach." Gao Yanan waved her pale hand once more.
Watching Gao Yanan and the Thunder Academy student veer toward the hill, Wanyan Muye felt a surge of movement within him, wanting to intervene, but when Gao Yanan passed by him, she cast a fleeting glance his way. He felt a twitch in his expression and found himself frozen in place.
"What do you wish to discuss?"
"Nothing much, just want to give you a beating..."
Behind the hill, as Wanyan Muye saw Gao Yanan's palm sailing toward him, his arm rose to meet it, only to feel as if he had been struck by a runaway carriage. It was then he finally comprehended what Gao Yanan meant by going behind to talk.
