Capítulo 140: Chapter 141: Omaeda Marechiyo's Tragedy

Meanwhile, Makoto personally led the remaining members of Fourth Division to swiftly conduct rescue operations within the squad's barracks.

It must be noted that Fourth Division's facilities were primarily designed to provide inpatient services. The sudden outbreak of the "Hollowfication incident" not only caught the entirety of the Seireitei off guard but also left many hospitalized patients utterly paralyzed with shock.

Among the patients were a considerable number who were incapacitated and unable to move.

Now, with most of the Fourth Division barracks reduced to rubble, numerous patients had been buried beneath the debris.

This urgency compelled Makoto to rally the Fourth Division members for an immediate rescue mission. After all, the last thing he wanted on his first day as Fourth Division's vice-captain was a mass casualty event under his watch.

---

I am Omaeda Marechiyo. My full name is Ōmaeda Nikkōtarōemon Yoshiayamenosuke Marechiyo. My father is none other than Omaeda Marenoshin, vice-captain of Second Division and commander of the patrol corps of the Onmitsukidō.

The Omaeda family is also one of the wealthiest noble clans in the entire Seireitei.

As the eldest son of the Omaeda family and heir to my father, Marenoshin, I have never known hardship or humiliation—until recently.

It all started when my father insisted I join the Punishment Force training camp, which required me to diet and lose weight daily.

How could someone like me, Omaeda Marechiyo, endure such treatment? Naturally, I used my financial resources to bribe a Fourth Division officer and arranged a comfortable stay in their barracks.

The Fourth Division womens were beautiful, kind, and gentle. Their food was delicious and sweet. It was like living in a dream.

But that dream was shattered the moment the sharp-tongued Fourth Division vice-captain, Yamada Seinosuke, discovered me during his rounds.

With the excuse that "it would be a shame not to do something now that you're in a hospital bed," Vice-Captain Yamada subjected me to a series of invasive examinations. He then concluded that there were three areas on my body that "had to be removed."

What followed was an enforced surgery. To prevent resistance, they even injected me with an entire vial of some unknown anesthetic.

When I woke up, my right abdomen ached, my dignity as the second son of the Omaeda family was wounded, and my entire body felt like it had been hit by a carriage. I lay immobile in my bed, seething.

I told myself this nightmare would end soon. Tomorrow, I'd be discharged and free of Fourth Division forever.

But before that moment of liberation could arrive, a series of terrifying spiritual pressures erupted outside.

"Boom!"

A deafening explosion resounded, and I found myself buried under a mountain of debris.

---

I don't know how much time passed.

"Over here! We've found someone!"

"There's a survivor!"

"Vice-Captain Senju's spiritual pressure detection is incredible—he pinpointed even the faintest trace buried so deep in the rubble!"

"His lower body is bleeding heavily—he's injured!"

"Hurry, get him to Vice-Captain Senju for emergency treatment!"

Amidst the clamor, I regained some faint consciousness. I could vaguely sense hands moving over my lower body.

The memories of my recent traumatic experience flashed vividly before my eyes, and I jolted awake, trembling.

Before me stood a young man with an elegant and gentle demeanor.

"You... you..."

Still under the lingering effects of anesthesia, I tried to speak but could only stammer.

"Don't worry. You'll be fine," Makoto reassured me with a soothing smile, pulling on a fresh pair of white gloves.

"Omaeda Marechiyo, right? The wound reopened and got a bit crushed, but don't worry—it's still salvageable."

What?!

His words sent a surge of adrenaline through me. I sat up abruptly, only to see a bloody mess below. My vision darkened, and I collapsed once more.

"Hey, I said not to get excited," Makoto chided gently. "I'm the vice-captain of Fourth Division. I'll patch you up good as new."

He turned to a nearby squad member. "Grab some anesthetic. The patient's confirmed they want treatment, so let's proceed."

"But… he…"

"Now!" Makoto's tone was firm.

The squad member hesitated but then retrieved a syringe and injected the anesthetic into me.

As the familiar numbness spread through my body, despair consumed me.

---

Makoto worked swiftly. Despite his calm demeanor, Marechiyo's injuries were severe. Makoto had to excise some necrotic tissue and then use his advanced kaido techniques to reconstruct the damaged areas.

Thanks to his mastery of Kaido, Makoto had become one of the Seireitei's most skilled medics.

Before long, Marechiyo's injuries were completely repaired.

Inspecting his work, Makoto realized he might have overdone it. The tissues he had removed earlier had been entirely regenerated.

"Guess I'll need to remove that again later," he muttered.
