27.77% How About I Charm The Top Rankers? / Chapter 15: Setting the Stage

Capítulo 15: Setting the Stage

The streets of the hunter district thrummed with energy. Merchants shouted over one another, hawking enchanted items and potions. Screens broadcast news about the upcoming Obsidian Contest, each one featuring highlights from past events: fierce battles, cunning strategies, and moments of triumph. Hunters moved in groups, buzzing with speculation and ambition.

Felix moved through the chaos like a fox stalking its prey, his sharp crimson eyes scanning every flicker of movement, every hushed conversation. His charm quirk hummed faintly beneath his skin, a subtle current that smoothed interactions and kept attention lingering on him just a second too long. He was used to the whispers that followed him now, the way heads turned when he passed.

"Ironstride's secret weapon," someone murmured.

"Yeah, but have you seen the way Victoria looks at him? She's practically staking her claim."

Felix's lips quirked into a smile. Let them talk. Gossip is just another tool.

Victoria's voice snapped Felix's attention back to the room. The strategy meeting was in full swing, with maps and documents spread across the table like a battlefield. She stood at the head, her silver braid catching the light as she gestured sharply to highlight key points. Her voice was crisp, commanding, but her gaze flicked to Felix often, seeking his approval.

"As I was saying before, we're not just participating," Victoria declared, her tone firm. "Ironstride is going to dominate this contest. I won't settle for less."

Felix leaned back in his chair, his expression relaxed. "Bold," he said softly, just loud enough for her to hear.

Victoria's lips curved into a slight smile, the kind that spoke of ambition and hunger. "Anything less would be an insult," she replied, her gaze lingering on him for a moment longer than necessary.

As the discussion continued, Felix spoke sparingly but strategically, his words weaving subtle threads of influence into the guild's plans. He pointed out potential weaknesses in rival guilds, suggested strategies that seemed innocuous but aligned with his own goals, and occasionally challenged Victoria just enough to keep her intrigued.

"You're assuming their frontline is their strength," Felix said, tilting his head. "But what if they're baiting you? A strong defense hidden behind a weak opening move could be devastating."

Victoria arched an eyebrow, her interest piqued. "Go on."

Felix's smile was faint, his tone casual. "Sometimes the obvious move is the trap. I'd recommend contingency plans that focus on adaptability, not brute force."

Victoria nodded slowly, her sharp mind already turning his suggestion over. "You're right," she admitted. "We'll adjust."

System Notification:

Felix's system notifications were becoming a comforting rhythm, a reminder that every word, every action, was moving him closer to his goals. He watched as Victoria commanded the room with confidence, her voice a blend of authority and ambition. Yet, every so often, her eyes found his, and Felix could see the unspoken questions lingering there.

The meeting adjourned, the guild members dispersing to prepare for their respective roles. Felix lingered, leaning against the edge of the table as Victoria approached. She stopped just within his personal space, her silver braid falling over one shoulder as she tilted her head slightly.

"You've been quiet today," she said, her tone softer than before. "What's on your mind?"

Felix met her gaze, his expression unreadable. "Just thinking about the contest," he replied smoothly. "The stakes are higher than most realize."

Victoria's eyes narrowed slightly, a spark of curiosity flickering in her expression. "You always seem to know more than you let on."

Felix's lips curved into a faint smile. "And you always seem to notice."

Victoria stepped closer, her voice dropping to a near whisper. "It's hard not to. You have a way of commanding attention without even trying."

Felix chuckled softly, the sound low and rich. "And you have a way of steering the ship without anyone daring to question you."

The tension between them was palpable now, the air heavy with unspoken intent. Victoria's gaze flicked to his lips for the briefest moment before returning to his eyes.

"Careful, Felix," she murmured, her tone both playful and warning. "I don't play games I can't win."

Felix leaned in slightly, his voice a low purr. "Neither do I."

Victoria's lips quirked into a smirk, and before Felix could say more, she closed the distance between them. Her hand curled into the fabric of his shirt as her lips claimed his in a kiss that was as possessive as it was passionate. Felix didn't resist—in fact, he responded with just enough enthusiasm to stoke the flames without losing control of the situation.

When they broke apart, Victoria's silver braid was slightly disheveled, her breathing uneven, but still a dominant smile played on her lips as she felt satisfied in taking her beautiful boy's lips.

Felix's crimson eyes gleamed as he tilted his head slightly, the ghost of a smile playing on his lips.

"Not bad," he said softly, his tone teasing. But, her kisses could be better.

Victoria laughed, the sound rich and full of confidence. "You're lucky I like you."

"Lucky," Felix echoed, his smirk widening. "That's one way to look at it."

Victoria stepped back, smoothing her braid with practiced precision. Her voice returned to its usual commanding tone. "Get ready. We're going to need you at your best."

Felix inclined his head. "Always."

As Felix left the meeting room, the cool air of the hallway cleared his head. The moment with Victoria had been calculated on his part, but there was no denying the spark that lingered. She's becoming bolder, he thought. That could be useful—or dangerous.

"Felix!" a familiar voice called out, breaking his train of thought.

Josh "Blazefoot" Martinez jogged toward him, his flaming boots leaving faint scorch marks on the stone floor. The comic-relief archetype was as eager and clumsy as ever, but Felix knew better than to dismiss him. Josh had his uses, even if he didn't realize it.

"What's on your mind, Josh?" Felix asked, his tone warm but measured.

Josh glanced around nervously before leaning in. "I heard something's going to go down during the contest. Like, big trouble. People are saying there's a group planning to disrupt the whole thing."

Felix raised an eyebrow, feigning mild interest. "Interesting. And who's spreading these rumors?"

Josh shrugged, looking sheepish. "No idea. But it's spreading fast."

Felix filed the information away, his mind already racing with possibilities. Chaos was the perfect breeding ground for opportunity, and Felix had every intention of capitalizing on it.

"Thanks for the heads-up," Felix said, clapping Josh on the shoulder. "Keep your ears open. Let me know if you hear anything else."

Josh beamed, clearly pleased to be of use. "You got it, buddy!"

As Josh bounded off, Felix's system pinged once more.

System Notification:

Hidden Objective Unlocked: "Trigger an Unforeseen Event"

Felix's lips curved into a sly smile as he murmured to himself, "I guess it's time to set the stage."
