Capítulo 83: Too Introverted, So I Draw My Sword

The next day, Jiraiya woke up from his drunken stupor, and the room in the inn was flooded with sunlight.

The window had been opened early, and Naruto's bed was empty. He had probably gone out to play.

In the empty room, Jiraiya leaned against the head of the bed, his face calm.

As expected, what he feared had come. He couldn't even remember the last time he met Tsunade.

The village was still the same, but they were getting old.

As he closed his eyes, images of the deaths of those he cared about flashed through his mind. It was supposed to be a legendary life, with both master and apprentice becoming Hokage, and all the disciples being outstanding ninjas.

But they were all gone.

If he could go back, perhaps he could prevent Orochimaru from going astray, not be rejected by Tsunade, protect his master and disciples, find a way to reform the ninja world, and nurture the child of prophecy.

Perhaps that would be the perfect life, one that could stand alongside the great deeds of past Hokages.

Unfortunately, everything from the past was like ashes, blown away by the wind, leaving nothing behind. Now, he could only reflect on the past through his drunken haze, indulging in dreams for a brief moment, trying to comfort himself.

Jiraiya's heroic tale, it seemed, was hard to continue.

This was a failed life.

---

Bang!

The door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. Naruto walked in holding lunch and shouted, "Hey, pervy sage, you awake?"

"Time to eat."

Jiraiya watched as Naruto casually placed the lunchbox on the table and changed his expression, smiling with a hint of satisfaction.

"I didn't expect you to be so thoughtful. No wonder you managed to steal the daughter of the Yamanaka family."

"Watch your words, pervy sage," Naruto said as he opened the lunchbox, placing the food on the table by the window. "You got drunk yesterday. Eat first."

"Did I say anything weird yesterday?" Jiraiya got up, wearing slippers, and prepared to wash up.

The simple room had only a basic bathroom, with two ordinary double beds, a table, a stool, and a balcony. Other than that, there was nothing else.

The yellowing wallpaper and the dried-out exterior of the building exuded a cheap feeling from the inside out.

They weren't lacking money, but Jiraiya insisted that a ninja's life should be simple and tough, so he had resolutely chosen this inn next to a "gentleman's club."

"You were drunk yesterday, pervy sage, and insisted on going to that club next door."

"I couldn't stop you, so I just let you go."

"What?" Jiraiya quickly opened his wallet and then looked even more horrified. "How did I end up with an extra 3,000 ryo?"

"Well..." Naruto scratched his neck, smiling but not saying anything.

"Tell me!"

"I took 3,000 ryo from the total," Naruto said, making Jiraiya's gaze dull. "Actually, it was 6,000 ryo in total."

Jiraiya immediately slumped onto the bed, his eyes lifeless as if all energy had drained out of him.

Seeing this, Naruto tried to comfort him.

"Pervy sage, it's not a big deal. Someone pushed you for 6,000 ryo; that's still a good deal."

"Pushed? What do you mean?" Jiraiya quickly sat up.

"You insisted on going to that club, and someone pushed you at the door..." Naruto continued eating while speaking, "You know, I'm a little introverted."

"I'm not good at reasoning with people, so I just put a knife to their neck."

"Introverted?" Jiraiya was stunned.

You're introverted but stole 6,000 ryo? This kid probably doesn't even know what the ninja code is!

However, after confirming that the 3,000 ryo wasn't obtained through anything improper, Jiraiya felt more at ease. He counted the money and waved at Naruto.

"Kid, I'll keep your 3,000 ryo safe."

"No," Naruto said, pushing Jiraiya's hand away, clicking his tongue. "Hurry up and eat, we need to keep moving."

"You're a brat with no conscience," Jiraiya grumbled, but there was a smile on his face.

Looking at Naruto eating with a grin, Jiraiya felt like he was saying that the more heartless you are, the more you get.

Jiraiya couldn't help but laugh loudly as the sun shone brightly outside the window, the gentle breeze flowing.

---

After continuing their journey, Jiraiya proposed the idea of taking Naruto as his disciple.

Naruto didn't say much, just agreeing right away.

But when Jiraiya mentioned the idea of long-term training with him, Naruto refused immediately. He couldn't live a tough training life with Jiraiya for long; Jiraiya was a carefree person, but Naruto wasn't.

Once he left home, Naruto began missing his sofa and big bed, where he could sleep in and wake up naturally. Konoha might not treat him well, but they couldn't do much to him either.

If they wouldn't sell him things, he'd just take them—paying for them made it not theft.

If they really wouldn't give him anything, he'd just beat them up.

Without his headband, he wasn't a ninja, and the higher-ups wouldn't care about him. Things would stay the same. Anyway, he wasn't lacking money; he just wanted to be happy.

He didn't want to train. He just wanted to lay down.

Even if it meant wasting his life, completing the tasks given by the system, and slowly getting stronger, that was fine.

In the end, Jiraiya had no choice but to suggest a method of training the Rasengan while searching for Tsunade. Naruto figured, since he was idle while not traveling, he might as well agree.

But training wasn't that easy. Naruto wasn't as diligent as Jiraiya expected, but at least his attitude towards training ninjutsu was decent, so Jiraiya turned a blind eye and let him pass.

That night, the two entered Short Book Street.

"Rasengan must have some trick to it, right?" Naruto asked.

"You have to figure it out yourself. Stop being so chatty!" Jiraiya said impatiently.

The busy street was brightly lit, with many shops and several bars and gambling halls. Jiraiya walked ahead, his gaze scanning the area, looking for a nearby gentleman's club.

"Why should you figure out ninjutsu yourself if you have experience? Isn't that just a waste of life?" Naruto said with some displeasure. "It's completely pointless."

"Kid, you don't understand, ninjutsu that you figure out yourself is your own!" Jiraiya mumbled, clearly distracted.

Just as Naruto was about to retort, he saw Jiraiya quickly walking in one direction.

Avoiding the crowds, they moved toward a quieter area.

In the dim light, in front of a prosperous tavern, Jiraiya blocked the path of two women. From a distance, Naruto noticed a woman in a large green robe with golden hair, whose figure was especially striking.

Before he could take a closer look, Naruto noticed Jiraiya's gaze gradually move downward, and a bad premonition rose in his chest.

A gust of night wind blew, and before they knew it, a powerful punch sent Jiraiya flying.

Tsunade's eyes were sharp, full of oppressive force.

"Kid, are you with him?"

"I don't know him."
