Capítulo 148: The Great Escape and the Wrath of Magellan
Level 3 of Impel Down buzzed with chaos and uncertainty as Raja's escape blazed forward. Through the dim corridors, prisoners gasped, awestruck by the figure fighting his way out. Not far behind, Buggy, Mr. 3, and a growing crowd of desperate inmates made their way up to Level 1, sparking riots as they broke through security. But their path was not clear yet; Magellan, seething with fury, was hot on their trail, leaving a trail of fallen rioters in his wake.
Sadi stirred awake, still simmering from her defeat by Raja. Her humiliation turned quickly into rage, and she knew precisely how to respond. Eyes blazing, she ordered her Jailer Beasts to move up to Level 1 through the lift, giving them free rein to tear down any escapees who dared to resist.
"These prisoners will pay for what they've done!" she spat, her voice laced with venom.
Meanwhile, Jinbe pulled Raja aside, gesturing toward the high-security layout around them. "There are Marine ships surrounding Impel Down," he informed Raja. "We can use them to escape, but time is against us. We have only four hours until the execution."
Raja nodded, quickly assessing the situation and then handing Jinbe a box filled with food and water. "Take Sleeping Luffy with you," Raja said, "he'll wake up in three hours, and he'll need this to stay strong."
Jinbe bowed in gratitude, carefully securing the box and lifting Luffy over his shoulder. This was the only chance they had to save Ace, and he was determined to see it through.
The escapees' victory was short-lived as Magellan himself arrived on the scene, towering over them with his menacing Hydra poison swirling at his command. The air grew thick and acrid with the stench of venom as he prepared to unleash his attack.
Acting quickly, Mr. 3 raised his hands, calling forth a thick, waxen wall. "Candle Wall!" he shouted, conjuring a defensive barrier just as Magellan's poison Hydra struck, the venom splashing against the wax and temporarily halting its advance.
Raja joined in, conjuring a fierce Magic-Magic 10X Fire Fist, which blasted into Magellan with such intensity that the Warden stumbled back, momentarily thrown off balance.
Magellan's eyes narrowed, realizing he was up against powers unlike anything he had faced within these walls. His determination to stop them only hardened.
"Mr. 3, one more wall!" Raja commanded, watching as Mr. 3 conjured another solid wall of wax. With swift, precise movements, Raja traced ancient runes across its surface, infusing the barrier with magic.
This new wall, fortified with Rune Magic, would buy them precious time. "Let's go!" Raja yelled, as they bolted for the lift. Behind them, Magellan roared, his poison seeping against the wax wall, but the runes held firm, refusing to melt.
Above, Bon Kurei, Crocodile, and the other prisoners had made it to the entrance of Impel Down. They were startled to find no guards, no Marine ships waiting to ambush them. They soon realized that Magellan had ordered the ships away, sealing off every escape route to prevent any chance of freedom.
Jinbe, glancing around and calculating distances, made a quick decision. "We can still reach those ships," he said with resolve. With Luffy on his shoulder, he jumped into the water, using his Den Den Mushi to coordinate with the others.
The Marine ships were already in view. He signaled to Buggy, Mr. 1, and Crocodile, who quickly rigged a makeshift raft out of a large door. Riding the turbulent waves, they surged forward, leaving the burning prison behind them.
Just as they neared the Marine ships, the Marines spotted the escapees and opened fire, cannonballs crashing around them. But Jinbe was unfazed. He summoned a powerful ocean current with a sweeping motion, sending their raft rocketing toward the nearest ship, bypassing the incoming fire.
With a mighty wave, Jinbe launched Buggy, Crocodile, and Mr. 1 onto the Marine vessel. Buggy panicked as they flew through the air, but his fear melted into excitement as they landed with a hard thud. Marines swarmed, attempting to surround them, but Jinbe's Spear Wave cut through, scattering the Marines and giving the escapees a chance to regain their footing.
Back at the entrance, Bon Kurei heard the explosive cannon fire in the distance and clenched his fists in worry. "If they make it to a ship, what if Magellan catches up before they're out of reach?"
He knew that every second counted, yet he also realized that the situation was far from secure, even with their temporary success.
Onboard the Marine vessel, Crocodile and Mr. 1 went to work, decimating the Marines who tried to retake the deck. Crocodile's sandstorms swirled as Mr. 1's blades struck like lightning, their attacks ruthlessly efficient. When a neighboring Marine ship attempted to target them, Jinbe doused the gunpowder stores with his water manipulation, rendering their cannons useless.
As they secured the ship, Jinbe's Den Den Mushi rang. "We've got a vessel," he announced to the others, "but getting to safety is still a challenge."
As they leapt overboard into the ocean, a massive school of whale sharks surfaced, responding to Jinbe's summons. The giant creatures ferried them swiftly to the captured Marine ship, where they climbed aboard, greeted by the cheering prisoners. But Jinbe quickly warned them, "Don't get too comfortable. We're not out of this yet."
Back on the Marine ships, Magellan continued his orders for pursuit. Suddenly, the massive Gates of Justice began to open, sending a wave of astonishment through the Marine ranks. The prisoners roared in joy, watching as their passage to freedom emerged.
However, it was no ordinary stroke of luck. Deep within Impel Down, the figure who had ordered the gates opened was none other than Bon Kurei, disguised as Magellan. Knowing the sacrifice he was making, he whispered a final farewell to his friends.
Outside, Bon prepared himself for capture, but before the guards could reach him, a shadow loomed overhead. Raja appeared, sweeping Bon into his arms and hurling him onto the departing ship, ensuring his escape. Without missing a beat, he did the same for Mr. 3, launching him to safety with Luffy's group.
The Marine ship burst through the Gates of Justice, the powerful tides propelling them forward. The Marines were helpless to stop them, watching in dismay as the escapees sailed beyond their reach.
Meanwhile, deep inside Impel Down, the Blackbeard Pirates, who had been left for dead after being poisoned by Magellan, stirred to life. Shiryu, the former Head Jailer, had saved them, offering his aid in exchange for a place in Blackbeard's crew. Blackbeard grinned, grateful for his unexpected salvation, and accepted Shiryu's loyalty.
As the ship neared Marineford, Buggy began to grow anxious, voicing his doubts about facing Whitebeard's might. Crocodile coldly explained that the route they were traveling was a Marine shortcut, connecting Impel Down, Enies Lobby, and Marineford directly. The looming battle would be unavoidable.
A Marine officer transmitted a report, identifying Luffy and Buggy as the masterminds behind the breakout. The officer recounted Buggy's history, revealing his ties to Shanks and Gol D. Roger's crew, shocking the prisoners. They immediately hailed Buggy as a legend, assuming he was an ally of Luffy in the mission to rescue Ace.
Seizing his chance, Buggy played along, delivering a rousing speech to rally the prisoners, inspiring them to support him with blind loyalty.
As the escaping ship moved further from Impel Down, Raja watched from a distance, using his Observation Haki to confirm Bon and Mr. 3 had safely boarded. Marines who attempted to close in on him were dispatched with a swift, powerful wave of his wand, sending them hurtling away.
Inside the prison, the doors suddenly burst open, and Magellan stormed out, rage radiating from his poison-covered body. Humiliated and furious at the prisoners' escape, he confronted Raja, ready to exact his revenge.
Raja met Magellan's attack head-on, unleashing every spell he had—Wind Blast, Fire Fist, Water Cannon, and even Fire Storm. But each element failed to pierce Magellan's Venom Demon: Hell's Judgment, a monstrous, skull-faced poison construct that melted everything it touched.
Seeing the stakes, Raja's Den Den Mushi suddenly rang, his expression turning serious. Lowering his wand, he raised his arm, unleashing a tremendous wave of Conqueror's Haki. Every Marine in the vicinity collapsed, leaving only Magellan kneeling, stunned by Raja's raw power.
Raja's voice rang out, his tone cold and calculated: "Magic-Magic 100X Wind Blast!"
The sheer force of the attack sent Magellan hurtling back, crashing through four walls, leaving him unconscious and battered.
As the dust settled, Raja observed the battlefield with his Observation Haki, ensuring every Marine lay defeated. His expression shifted as his attire transformed into his Shadow persona. Taking out his Den Den Mushi, he spoke with calm authority, "Did you reach the location? It's time to commence Operation Liberator's Dawn."
With that, he vanished, leaving behind a wake of fallen Marines and a prison brought to its knees. The path to Marine ford lay open, and with it, the dawn of a new chapter in the battle for freedom.
