Capítulo 24: Chapter 24: Strategic Moves

Alex perched on the rooftop of a crumbling building, his sharp eyes tracking the massive figures of Hulk and Abomination as they clashed below. The ground shook with each of their blows, the sheer force of their combat making him question every choice that had led him to this moment. Was he really prepared for this? No. Not yet. But he didn't have the luxury of waiting any longer.

This wasn't like the movie. Hulk and Abomination were supposed to battle it out, sure, but this fight had escalated into something far more dangerous than what he remembered. There was something off about Abomination, though. His hulking form radiated power as electrical arcs danced across his body. This wasn't just brute strength; this was something else entirely.

Abomination shouldn't have the ability to control electricity. That was new. He needed to adapt quickly.

Alex pulled up his system panel, the familiar blue screen floating in front of his vision as he focused on his stats. He quickly scrolled through his list of equipped characters.

Equipped Characters:

Peter Parker (Spiderman): Superhuman strength, agility, spider-sense.

Zatanna (Silver Tier): Magic abilities, low-level psychic powers.

Black Pather(Silver Tier): Hand-to-hand combat skills, heightened senses.

Empty Slot.

Empty Slot.

Empty Slot.

Three slots left. Alex sighed in frustration. He had hoped he could avoid filling this last slot so soon, but with the current situation escalating, he knew he had no choice. His eyes drifted to the silver wheel icon in the corner of the panel, his fingers twitching in anticipation.

He had accumulated a decent amount of points from his previous interventions, but it wasn't enough for the Platinum Wheel. Not yet. Still, he needed something new—something that could help him navigate this situation without getting himself killed.

Points: 820/1,000

"Damn it," he muttered. "Still short. I need that Platinum Wheel."

The Platinum Wheel was the true game-changer. Once he unlocked it, the powers he could gain would be on an entirely different level—godlike, even. He could finally stand toe-to-toe with the heavyweights in this universe. But for now, he had to make do with what he had. And right now, what he needed was something that could help him deal with Abomination's unexpected power.

He glanced down at the street again. Abomination charged Hulk, slamming his massive fist into the green giant's chest, sending him flying backward into the side of a skyscraper. Glass shattered, raining down on the already-chaotic streets below.

No time to waste.

He opened the silver wheel and hit spin.

The wheel spun rapidly, the bright, shimmering lights blurring together as his heart raced in anticipation. He had no idea what would come up. The wheel slowed, ticking between characters, and for a moment, Alex held his breath. The wheel finally stopped, and a notification flashed across the screen.

You have unlocked: Moonkight (Silver Tier).

"Moonkight? Seriously?" Alex groaned in disbelief. Moonkight wasn't exactly the powerhouse he had hoped for. The guy was a low-level but peak hero with the ability to absorb energy and bounce it back that could fire concussive blasts of vibrational energy. Not exactly Thor or Hulk-level, but it wasn't useless either. Maybe with his prophetic visions he could at least avoid some certain unnecessary encounters that will draw too much attention to him.

"Alright, Moonkight it is," Alex muttered, equipping the ability.

He felt a strange tingling in his hands as the familiar sensation of energy coursed through him. It wasn't overwhelming like some of the other powers he had gained, but it was there, subtle, ready to be called upon. With Shocker's abilities, he now had the power to fire vibrational blasts strong enough to stagger even someone like Abomination—if he played it smart.

Alex watched as Hulk and Abomination continued their destructive brawl. Hulk was clearly struggling; the electrical surges from Abomination were taking their toll. But Alex wasn't about to jump in headfirst without a plan. He needed to conserve his energy and use his new ability strategically.

He raised his hand, focusing on the vibrations building within his palms from the collision of these two monstrosities. He could feel the energy thrumming beneath his skin, waiting to be unleashed. He aimed at a nearby section of a crumbling building, one that stood precariously above the battlefield, and released a blast of vibrational energy. The blast hit the building's weak point, causing it to collapse directly onto Abomination.

The timing was perfect. Tons of concrete and steel rained down on the creature, temporarily pinning him beneath the rubble. Hulk, seeing his opening, charged in, landing a devastating punch that sent shockwaves through the ground.

Alex grinned as he watched his points tick up slightly.

Points: 870/1,000.

"Not bad," he muttered. But it wasn't enough. He needed more.

Abomination wasn't down for long. With a roar, he burst out from under the rubble, electrical energy crackling around him as he zeroed in on Alex's position.

Shit.

"Time to move," Alex whispered to himself as he jumped from the rooftop, using his Spiderman agility to swing away just in time. A bolt of electricity struck where he had been standing, shattering the rooftop into a cloud of dust and debris.

Abomination's glowing eyes followed him, and Alex felt a chill run down his spine. He had been careful, up until now, not to draw too much attention to himself. He wasn't ready to deal with being on the radar of people like the Avengers, SHIELD, or worse—the Ancient One. But now, with Abomination focused on him, he had no choice but to act. And act carefully.

"Alright, big guy," Alex muttered, landing on the side of a building and sticking to it like Spiderman. "Let's see if we can't take you down a notch."

He concentrated, calling on Zatanna's magic. A whisper of ancient words passed his lips, and he felt the air around him shift as a protective barrier formed, crackling with magical energy. He wasn't ready to take on Abomination directly, but this shield would buy him some time.

Abomination charged again, electricity surging through his massive frame as he leaped toward Alex's position. But Alex was already moving, firing off another concussive blast from absorbing Abomination's power punch force , aiming for the exposed power lines running along the street.

The blast hit, sending a surge of electricity through the lines, and for a brief moment, Abomination was caught in a feedback loop. The additional voltage overcharged him, causing his body to spasm uncontrollably. He roared in pain as his electrical abilities short-circuited, leaving him vulnerable.

Hulk, not missing a beat, seized the opportunity. With a thunderous roar, Hulk slammed both fists down onto Abomination's back, driving him into the pavement with enough force to crack the street wide open. The ground trembled as Abomination lay stunned, electricity flickering out around him.

Alex could feel the tension release from his body as he watched the scene. It wasn't over, but they had bought some time.

His points ticked up again.

Points: 920/1,000.

"Getting closer," Alex murmured.

But he knew he had to be cautious. This wasn't the last fight he'd face, and his actions today were putting him further into the spotlight. He glanced around the wrecked street, seeing people emerge from the rubble, watching, whispering. It wouldn't be long before word spread about the "new guy" who helped take down Abomination. He was stepping into a dangerous game.

A game where even someone like the Ancient One might start paying attention.

"One last push," Alex said to himself, preparing for whatever came next. The Platinum Wheel was almost within reach, and with it, true power. All he needed was one final burst of points. And then—then he'd be ready for whatever this world threw at him.
