After finishing his private training, Sato returned to his residence. Instead of immediately washing up and going to bed, he first gave Zubat, who had worked hard in the training session, a bath with warm water and a massage. He also rewarded it with a gem-quality PokeBlock to restore its stamina.
With the triple treat of a gem-quality PokeBlock, a warm bath, and a massage, Zubat was in bliss, and all the fatigue and soreness from training vanished. Finally, Sato gave it a one-liter bottle of cow's blood as a late-night snack.
"Zzzzz," Zubat chirped happily as it landed gently on Sato's shoulder after finishing the snack. Although he had only known Sato for a day, the treatment Sato provided made Zubat feel incredibly comfortable—he had never met anyone so kind to him before.
"Get some rest, Zubat. We have more training tomorrow morning. I still need to organize the data before I can sleep," Sato said with a smile, gently patting Zubat's head while his own hair was still wet from his shower. He then began entering the day's training data from his notebook into the computer.
Zubat obediently nodded in response and then tapped the Great Ball on the table, turning into a beam of red light and returning to his PokeBall to rest.
"The training equipment is still too basic. Relying only on physical training tools isn't enough, especially since Zubat is a Flying-type Pokémon. It needs to improve it's flying technique. Also, my data collection tools are outdated; I need something to improve my efficiency." Sato thought to himself as he quickly transferred the data from his notebook into the computer.
He then placed his Rocket watch in the designated slot on his computer's case and entered the Team Rocket internal points exchange system for the second time, hoping to browse the available items again and see if anything could help him train Zubat.
Perhaps due to his promotion to grunt rank, Sato noticed that a new category had been added to the points exchange system.
Previously, there were only four main categories: Pokémon items, TM discs, Pokémon, and training manuals. Now, there was a new category called "Internal Trading."
Seeing the new category, Sato immediately clicked on it. As numerous item images and brief descriptions popped up, his eyes lit up with excitement.
From Sato's perspective, this new 'Internal Trading' section resembled an online marketplace, though its range was limited to the Pewter City Team Rocket underground base.
Despite this limitation, the items listed were numerous and often priced lower than those in the official points exchange system. However, there was a greater risk involved in these transactions.
Since items sold through this marketplace could not be verified in person, their quality wasn't guaranteed, unlike the items from the points exchange, which were always new and of high quality.
In short, the internal marketplace offered cheaper items than the points exchange, but since most sellers were anonymous and all sales were final, buying based solely on pictures and text descriptions carried significant risk.
However, to Sato, this internal marketplace opened a new opportunity for earning points. He had high-quality PokeBlocks that he could sell, but due to his current circumstances, he couldn't openly sell them in public markets.
The discreet nature of the internal marketplace, with its convenient selling methods, provided Sato with a safe channel to sell his PokeBlocks and earn points.
After looking at the methods for selling items in the marketplace, Sato became even more convinced that it was a safe way to sell his PokeBlocks.
There were two ways to sell items in the internal marketplace. The first was to open a virtual shop, similar to an online store, and sell items directly. The second was to use the commission system and get people to sell items on your behalf.
The so-called "commission system" for sales essentially involves taking your items to a place within the Pewter City underground base called the "Network Trading Center." There, staff will authenticate and approve your items before helping you sell them, while ensuring that none of your personal information is disclosed.
Of course, using the commission system isn't free—it takes a percentage of your transaction profits as a fee.
"Interesting... this is practically a safe and harmless way to offload black market goods. With this internal network marketplace, Team Rocket allows its members to securely hand over valuable items they can't otherwise sell on the open market. Whoever came up with this internal marketplace is definitely a business genius," Sato thought after contemplating the system for a moment.
It's clear that in the dog-eat-dog environment of Team Rocket, the creation of this secure trading channel would increase the efficiency of resource utilization within the organization. It also provides a good platform for people with special talents who may be too weak to display them publicly at the moment.
After browsing the internal marketplace a bit longer, Sato closed the page and returned to the main page of the points exchange system. He clicked on the "Miscellaneous" section under the "Pokémon Items" category and began searching for what he needed.
Finally, Sato found the items he had in mind: a powerful electric fan, a portable laptop, and a bottle of calcium supplements.
The powerful electric fan he chose wasn't an ordinary one. This high-tech fan, custom-made by Team Rocket, could generate wind speeds from level 10 to level 12.
Sato selected the fan specifically for Zubat's flight training. With it, Zubat wouldn't need to keep flying in circles for practice. The strong winds created by the fan could serve as a training partner.
By flying against the powerful winds generated by the fan, Zubat would not only improve its flight capabilities but also learn to adapt to various wind conditions.
Most importantly, with this fan, Sato wouldn't need to take Zubat to the public training grounds for endurance training. They could train right in his dorm room, keeping their activities more discreet.
As for the portable laptop, Sato intended to use it to collect Zubat's training data more efficiently. After glancing at the laptop's features, Sato couldn't help but marvel at how much more advanced Pokémon world's technology was compared to Earth's.
This laptop not only had all the functions of a regular Earth laptop but also had built-in features specifically for Pokémon trainers. It could automatically detect a Pokémon's body data.
The most crucial part? The laptop had some defensive capabilities, so in a pinch, it could even be used as a shield.
Given that Sato was an excellent programmer, he could write programs to help analyze Pokémon data in more detail, allowing him to design more precise training plans for Zubat.
As for the calcium supplements, Sato wanted to experiment with the method used by Nurse Joy in the Orange Islands, where she fed calcium to a Magikarp to promote its body growth. While it's true that a Pokémon's size doesn't directly correlate to its strength, there are many benefits to a larger size. For example, larger Pokémon tend to have stronger vitality and greater strength than their smaller counterparts.
Some might argue that a larger Pokémon could become slower, and that is a valid concern. However, it's not an insurmountable issue. To illustrate, consider the difference between someone who's overweight and someone who's muscular. They may have similar body sizes, but would anyone think that the overweight person could move faster than the muscular one? Besides, who said muscular people aren't fast?
Moreover, these calcium supplements weren't ordinary ones. They were specially developed by Team Rocket's biotech division. According to the description, they promote a Pokémon's physical growth and also have some healing properties.
