Capítulo 10: Ambush Plan
The four of them were about to move further toward the trail when Long Wei suddenly stopped them. He said:
"Hold on a second. Remember that the enemy is on the same level as us, so what if they've set up the scene deliberately to trap us? Even if they don't know we exist, what if it's a trap for wild beasts?"
This was indeed a bit too much. Lei Feng thought this guy was being overly cautious, but after careful consideration, he said:
"The possibility of setting up traps for wild beasts in this way is low, but you're right about one thing. There's a high chance there are traps around here.
We'd better be careful. Anyone can make mistakes, but the severity differs. If a mistake costs you your life, how can you correct it?"
"Almost forgot that the opponent is on the same level as us. If we know about traps, they surely do too." Xue Lian nodded in agreement.

After about half an hour of slow progress, they began hearing sounds. Though they hadn't encountered any traps along the way, they remained on high alert.
Advancing while hiding, a group of 'people' gradually came into view.
Hiding behind the bushes, they looked ahead and saw many green-colored creatures.
They didn't seem like primitive beings but wore clothes and shoes not much different from humans.
The main difference lay in their style - perhaps their sense of aesthetics differed from humans.
"Hey, are those goblins? Aren't these green creatures usually dressed in ancient or tribal outfits? Why do they look just as modern as we are?" Long Wei whispered.
Of course, they kept their voices as low as possible. They didn't know whether these strange creatures had extraordinary hearing.
"Hey, hey, hey, why are you so dump? I told you this is the first survival battle between intelligent races.
What makes you think their civilization is inferior to Earth's? Let me tell you, all the races here possess nuclear weapons. Don't assume they're dumb, or you'll get tricked badly."
Long Wei felt a bit awkward, but he didn't deny that he had underestimated the enemy.
As a competent leader, Lei Feng had ignored their chatter, keeping his focus on the target. After weighing the pros and cons, he said:
"We can't launch an attack directly. Roughly counting, they've got more than three hundred on their side. And based on what you said, they have strength comparable to ours. If each of them lands a punch, our entire group will be wiped out."
Xue Lian nodded, but seeing that Lei Feng's expression showed no sign of panic, she laughed and said:
"Ha ha, so you've already come up with a plan, haven't you?"
"Well, I thought you'd charge right in."
"I do enjoy hand-to-hand combat, but I'm not foolish enough to fight a crowd with equal strength. Besides, without weapons, punching them might just break my own hand."
Hearing this, Lei Feng nodded. He knew well that the person he had chosen wasn't a fool.
If she really were, his judgment would be too poor—how could he lead if he couldn't even select the right talent?
"Of course I have a plan. We'll take advantage of their confusion, find a nearby water source, then quickly make weapons and set traps."
"Ha ha, our emperor is quite devious, huh? Barely arrived, and already plotting against them." Xue Lian laughed.
Although she had acknowledged him as emperor, her tone remained casual and without reservation.
Naturally, Lei Feng didn't mind, it was just the way she spoke. As long as she genuinely accepted him as emperor, it wasn't a problem.
"Let's move quickly. I suspect they'll notice this area soon enough. Even if our trap fails, we'll still secure the water source. That's more valuable than gold right now." Long Wei said.
In different circumstances, the value of things changes. Here, water was priceless, whereas in China, you could just buy it on the street.
But at the moment, water was a matter of survival. Four days without drinking it could lead to death.
Controlling the water source would give them a significant advantage.
The four of them immediately set out in search of water. After a short while, they found a large stream.
It was so big that even with their combined strength, setting traps for a whole week wouldn't be enough to completely surround the stream.
Time was pressing now, and in just a few hours, many others might take action. There wasn't enough time to set up numerous traps.
"Your Majesty, this stream is too big. Maybe we shouldn't set any traps." Long Wei said.
"You're right. Instead of setting traps, let's focus on making weapons first, then we'll ambush them here." Lei Feng responded.
The others nodded in agreement, trusting his decision.
After all, they had already accepted him as their leader. If they didn't trust him, who could they trust?
"Uh, I don't know how to make weapons." Xue Lian said.
"It's not that difficult. We'll just sharpen some branches to make spears and gather some sharp stones. The stones are for throwing, and the spears are for close combat. We need effectiveness, not something fancy." Lei Feng explained.
Everyone nodded and started dividing tasks. The work wasn't too challenging.
They just needed to gather materials and sharpen them a bit.
They used stones to grind the tips of the branches, and since aesthetics weren't a concern, it wasn't hard.
After half an hour of preparation, each person carried three wooden spears and a dozen sharp stones.
They couldn't carry too much, as it would become cumbersome.
Looking around at the group, Lei Feng nodded in satisfaction and said:
"Ready?"
"Of course." the three responded.
"Good. Then let's eat first, and afterward, we'll find a place to ambush them. We'll move together - no splitting up. Alright, let's go."
They all followed him without raising any objections, as it would be pointless. They weren't fools, they knew what was best.
After a while, they found a spot with plenty of trees, providing good cover and a clear view of their surroundings.
"Lucky for us, there aren't many insects or mosquitoes here. Otherwise, it would be a huge hassle." Lei Feng said.
He understood the importance of this. In the usual forests on Earth, the risk would have been much higher.
"Ha ha, we should thank whoever created this world. They really thought of the participants." Azeroth laughed and replied.
