Capítulo 16: chapter 16 Reflection on Chakra

Sitting under the shade of a large tree near the orphanage, Haruto Takeda closed his eyes and focused inward. The soft hum of the village surrounded him—birds chirping, distant laughter from the other children, the rustle of leaves in the wind—but Haruto's mind was elsewhere. In the quiet of his meditation, he could feel it: the gentle pulse of chakra moving through him, like a river beneath the surface of his skin. It was subtle, but it was there.

Chakra had always fascinated him, even in his previous life. It was the power that separated this world from the one he had known, the force that allowed people to mold energy into unimaginable feats. And now, after years of slow, deliberate practice, Haruto felt as though he had only just scratched the surface of its potential. But even this, the faint pulse of chakra coursing through his pathways, was more than most kids his age could feel.

His journey with chakra had been one of the most challenging parts of his training. Unlike his physical exercises, which showed immediate results, chakra demanded patience. It was elusive, something he had to coax out of himself rather than force. The system had given him an edge—Chakra Sensitivity at the age of one and a half had accelerated his progress—but it was still up to him to refine it, to make chakra a natural part of his being.

Slow Beginnings

Haruto's first attempts to sense chakra had been frustrating. At two years old, he had spent months trying to feel something—anything—within himself. It had felt impossible at first, like trying to hear a sound that was too far away or catch a shadow that didn't exist. But then, the system had granted him Chakra Sensitivity, and suddenly, that distant hum became a whisper.

The reward had been subtle, almost imperceptible at first, but Haruto soon realized that he could feel a faint flow of energy inside him. It wasn't strong, and it wasn't enough to manipulate, but it was there. From that point on, his focus shifted. Meditation became a daily routine, and he spent hours sitting still, eyes closed, concentrating on the chakra flowing through his body.

He started small, learning to move chakra from one part of his body to another. It was a delicate process, requiring immense focus, but slowly, he made progress. He could feel the energy collecting in his hands, in his feet, circulating throughout his body in measured pulses.

It was progress, but it was slow. Haruto had always been patient, but this was a new kind of patience. The kind that required him to sit with his own frustration, to breathe through the discomfort of stagnation. Still, he persevered. Every small success felt like a victory.

The Leaf Exercise

At four years old, Haruto had begun practicing one of the most basic chakra control exercises he could remember from the anime: the leaf concentration exercise. The idea was simple—place a leaf on your forehead and use your chakra to keep it there. In theory, it was straightforward. In practice, it was maddeningly difficult.

The first few times he tried it, the leaf slid off almost immediately. Haruto had to fight the urge to get frustrated, reminding himself that this was all part of the process. Each time he failed, he would take a deep breath, pick up the leaf, and try again.

Eventually, after weeks of practice, something clicked. Haruto could feel his chakra stabilizing, forming a subtle bond between his skin and the leaf. The leaf remained in place, hovering just above his forehead as if suspended by invisible strings. It wasn't perfect, but it was a start. The exercise, as simple as it seemed, helped him understand the importance of fine control.

This was the key to chakra mastery—not brute force, but balance. It wasn't about overwhelming power; it was about precision, about directing the flow of chakra exactly where it needed to go without wasting any of it.

Where He Stands Now

At five years old, Haruto could feel his progress in chakra control every day. He had moved beyond simple sensing and was now practicing more complex exercises. The leaf concentration was just the beginning. He had started practicing chakra flow exercises, focusing on moving energy to different parts of his body to enhance his physical movements. Though he couldn't perform any jutsu yet, he was building the foundation necessary for more advanced techniques.

One thing Haruto had noticed was his ability to control chakra seemed much better than most kids his age, especially those outside the clans. He hadn't spent much time with the clan children yet, but based on what he had seen from a distance, he knew they would be his real competition when the time came. Kids like the Uchiha and Hyūga had natural advantages with chakra control, but Haruto was determined to match them through hard work and methodical practice.

While he couldn't mold chakra for flashy techniques or perform any notable ninjutsu, Haruto knew that his stamina, combined with his increasing control, would be his greatest asset. Most children his age lacked the endurance to train with chakra for extended periods. But thanks to the system's rewards, Haruto could maintain his focus for longer and recover quickly when he overextended himself.

Challenges Ahead

Haruto knew that his progress, while promising, was only the beginning. The academy loomed on the horizon, and once he entered, the competition would be fierce. He wasn't naive—he understood that the clan kids would have years of family training to fall back on, access to techniques and knowledge that he could only dream of. But Haruto had never been one to shy away from a challenge.

He wasn't just relying on the system's boosts; every bit of progress he made was earned. The system gave him the tools, but it was Haruto who had to wield them. It was his dedication, his willingness to push beyond the limits of most children, that would allow him to stand among the elite.

But for now, Haruto was content with where he stood. He had laid a strong foundation, both physically and mentally, and his control over chakra was growing each day. He knew that mastery of chakra wasn't something that came overnight—it would take years of discipline and focus. But Haruto had time, and more importantly, he had the patience to see it through.

As he opened his eyes and looked out over the village, Haruto allowed himself a small smile. He wasn't the strongest yet, and he wasn't the fastest. But when it came to sheer perseverance and quiet progress, he knew he was on the right path.

And when the time came to face the challenges of the academy, he would be ready.
