Capítulo 392: Chapter 392: No... God Has Abandoned Us

Zhou Hu, bustling with work, found a reason to take them and run. As long as they took good care of Ginseng Baby, life would be smooth sailing.

Qing Shan Mental Hospital.

Office.

Hao Ren brewed a cup of tea for Lin Fan. This was his prized tea, only worth brewing for those who appreciated it. However, neither Lin Fan nor Old Zhang understood tea, so Hao Ren only made one cup, leaving Old Zhang to drink plain water.

But... look, wasn't he enjoying his plain water?

Hao Ren sat opposite Lin Fan, a knowing smile on his face. "You're quite something, kid. You got her to come check on you. I have to say, I never noticed you had such charm."

"What do you mean?" Lin Fan asked, puzzled.

"Playing dumb, are we?" Hao Ren retorted.

Lin Fan genuinely didn't understand what Hao Ren was talking about.

Hao Ren pointed at Lin Fan, laughing. "Liang Yuan, you know that girl? The one you always call your wife when watching the news? At first, I didn't believe you. I never thought your pen pal would actually be real. She writes to you, why don't you write back?"

Lin Fan remembered. He did have a pen pal, someone he exchanged letters with during his time at Qing Shan Mental Hospital. He and Old Zhang often had to consult Professor Xingkong for help in replying.

"I already have a wife," Lin Fan stated.

"Isn't she your wife?"

Hao Ren felt exasperated. These young people played things fast and loose. He recalled his own youth, brimming with talent, with countless beautiful girls vying for his attention.

But he rejected them all.

Nothing could stop him from studying.

Lin Fan shook his head. "No, my wife is Mu Qing. Liang Yuan and I are pen pals, but I don't want my wife to know. My heart belongs only to my wife, and that won't change."

"You're going to be the death of me, kid. I don't care if you have a wife or not. Always remember what I tell you: Keep the red flag at home flying high, and let the colorful flags flutter outside. That's a man's lifelong pursuit. Now your opportunity has arrived, and you're letting it slip away. When you're my age, with the will but not the strength, you'll know how to write the word 'regret'."

Director Hao, like a seasoned traveler, shared his life's regrets with Lin Fan, hoping he would understand. "You're young now, and you take these things lightly because of your youth. When you get older, you'll definitely regret it."

"You're strange," Lin Fan said, looking at Director Hao with surprise. His words were confusing, and Lin Fan didn't quite grasp their meaning.

Director Hao shook his head. Young people would be young people. They wouldn't listen to the wisdom of their elders and would suffer the consequences later. He had shared such important secrets, yet Lin Fan didn't understand.

Sometimes, he thought, if he could return to his youth, things would be very different. He wouldn't go into detail, but his descendants would at least be in the double digits.

All from different mothers, of course.

"Forget it. If you think I'm strange, so be it." Director Hao smiled, then noticed the ginseng. "Did you bring this back from Changbai Mountain?"

"Yes, his name is Ginseng," Lin Fan replied.

Director Hao thought to himself, I'm not blind, I know it's ginseng.

Of course, he was amazed that the ginseng could talk and walk. In ancient myths, such things were signs of a spirit.

A ginseng spirit...

That was a highly nourishing thing. Many myths told of people boiling ginseng spirits, fleeceflower roots, and other such spirits in a pot. After consuming them, they would ascend to immortality on the spot.

He used to think it was all nonsense.

Now...

Having seen a walking, talking ginseng spirit, what else could be considered nonsense? Perhaps it was all true.

Director Hao stood up, walked over to Lin Fan, and put his arm around his shoulder. "You've worked hard," he said earnestly.

"It wasn't hard work," Lin Fan replied.

Director Hao smiled, a smile of deep satisfaction. Who would dare say that becoming the director of a mental hospital was a waste of his talents? If it weren't for his guidance, Lin Fan wouldn't be so kind.

And they would all be doomed.

Didn't they feel the pressure?

Lin Fan shouldn't have to bear this burden alone; it was unfair to anyone.

Afterwards, Lin Fan and Old Zhang took their friends to find Professor Xingkong. Having returned to their first home after so long, they missed their friends. Professor Xingkong, immersed in his exploration of the cosmos, put down his pen to welcome his good friends, his former fellow patients from the next ward.

Sunset.

Special Department.

"Brother Seng, want a bath?"

Liu Ying, lying in wait, greeted them enthusiastically and respectfully as they returned.

He was a good man, and an even better boyfriend. He had promised his wife he would do this, so he waited.

Ginseng glanced at him. "You can't bathe too often, you'll lose your skin."

The words sounded like a reprimand, but Liu Ying didn't react, remaining respectful and obedient.

"Brother Seng is right. Bathing too often can make you lose your skin."

Ginseng felt a gaze fixed on him from the shadows.

He searched.

He couldn't find it.

The gaze was invasive, making his backside tingle. I'm a ginseng, could there be a pervert interested in ginseng?

Hidden from view, Lin Daoming withdrew his gaze. He had almost been discovered. He was staring at Ginseng's backside.

To put it plainly, he was waiting for Ginseng to poop.

His purpose was similar to Liu Ying's: one waited for bathwater, the other waited for poop.

They were determined to take care of Ginseng's needs, leaving him without any worries.

They didn't want anyone else to know. More people meant more competition, and they wouldn't be able to enjoy it alone. A group of people fighting over poop and bathwater would be a chaotic scene, and getting any would be a matter of luck.

Night!

Deep in space, a beam of light illuminated the stars. In the blink of an eye, it appeared above a planet. A giant, glowing dragon phantom, the size of the planet itself, materialized and vanished just as quickly, transforming into a human figure floating in the cosmos.

"What a beautiful planet, so radiant."

The city lights didn't reveal much up close, but from space, looking down, the view was breathtaking.

His arrival caused quite a stir.

Not on the planet itself.

But among the powerful beings of various cosmic races. They sensed something amiss, wondering what treasure could be worthy of his personal presence.

They all wanted a share.

At that moment, the Star-Spangled Country's space station detected the mysterious figure floating in space.

The image was transmitted to Earth.

The Star-Spangled Country's high command was thrilled. Ever since their greatest warrior, Apollo, had perished in Changbai Mountain, their top combat power had suffered a severe blow, leaving them feeling crippled.

They were desperate.

"Quickly, contact this mysterious being. Our Star-Spangled Country is the greatest nation, and we welcome powerful beings from the cosmos."

The high command instructed the astronauts in the space station to make contact.

The space station, massive in human terms, moved towards the mysterious figure.

"Hmm?"

The Dragon Clan elder noticed the strange metal object, frowned, narrowed his eyes, and fired a beam of light.

The space station attempted to greet the mysterious figure with radio waves, but just as it was about to speak, it exploded.

Reduced to ashes.

"A mere piece of foreign metal dares to provoke me?"

The Dragon Clan elder mistook the space station for a provocative creature. The world was vast and full of wonders; metal-like creatures existed, so the misunderstanding was understandable.

Star-Spangled Country.

"The space station has been attacked!"

"We've lost contact with the space station."

Chaos erupted.

The high command, upon hearing the news, wept. "Oh God... have you abandoned us?"

Damn it, why couldn't the West have some reliable gods?

They had gods in the West.

For example... well, not exactly their Star-Spangled Country's gods.

But the Sea God of Haiyun Country.

That Sea God was a fool, utterly useless.

And then there was Death.

Death had once been so mighty, destroying cities as easily as drinking water. But ever since encountering Lin Fan, his tragic life had begun. Now, whether Death was alive or dead was unknown.

Death's last words had been...

"I'll be back."

But months had passed, and there had been no sign of him, suggesting he was truly dead.

August 7th!

Suburbs.

"Xiao Bao, your idea was great. Barbecuing outdoors is wonderful."

Lin Fan praised Xiao Bao, savoring the aroma of the barbecue. Everyone was busy, not letting the chefs do the work. This kind of thing was best done by oneself; the feeling was something you couldn't just buy.

Xiao Bao's pet squirrel was playing happily with Ginseng and the hen.

Ginseng had somehow found a rope and tied it around the hen's neck, then climbed on, riding it like a galloping horse.

The squirrel and Ginseng were good friends.

They rode on the hen together.

Running all over the place.

Their bond was truly strong.

Like friends of many years.

The three pets seemed to be having fun together, but the Evil Chicken felt deeply wronged, a sense of unspeakable humiliation hidden in his heart.

Damn it.

He had thought the squirrel would join his side, but that hateful creature had become Ginseng's accomplice, a tormentor.

The Evil Chicken wanted to rebel.

But remembering his role as an undercover agent, he buried his anger.

He encouraged himself silently.

A hero... must be strong, and a strong heart was essential.

Ride on.

Just ride on me.

At that moment, a voice came from afar.

"Someone's here."

A group of men and women approached, dressed in ancient clothing, their bearing exceptionally refined, like modern-day celebrities. Under the spotlight, they would appear even more beautiful, and these strangers surpassed that beauty many times over.

The benefits of cultivation weren't limited to increased strength.

It was more a transformation from the inside out.

These people were all descendants of cosmic races.

They had been in the wilderness too long.

Their bodies felt uncomfortable.

Knowing there was a human city here, their goal was to wash up. Having been out for so long, couldn't they enjoy themselves a little?

The Evil Chicken saw these people.

He immediately turned and ran towards Lin Fan.

When encountering powerful beings, it was best to leave it to the experts.
