"What, is your organization some kind of cult where your leader thinks of himself as a god?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and leaning forward slightly.
Both Kisame and Itachi froze, their expressions betraying a moment of surprise.
"Ah, so I guessed right, didn't I?" I said, barely managing to hold back a laugh. Their silence was answer enough. "Are you seriously saying it's true?"
That was it—I couldn't keep it in any longer. "Haha… oh man… really?" I burst out laughing, and the absurdity of it all set off Sasuke and Sakura as well. Even Kisame let out a deep chuckle, though Itachi simply observed us with his usual unreadable expression.
We laughed until we were out of breath, each of us trying and failing to compose ourselves. Finally, I managed to get a hold of myself, wiping a tear from my eye. "I see," I said, still chuckling softly. "I don't even know whether to laugh or cry at your situation. Following someone who thinks they're a god? That's next-level ridiculous."
Kisame couldn't help but chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "Well, I'll admit, calling him a god is a bit much, but... yeah, our leader has some lofty ambitions."
Itachi's expression remained stoic, though a faint twitch at the corner of his mouth betrayed his irritation. "Naruto, you shouldn't make light of things you don't understand."
I wiped a tear from my eye, still grinning. "Sorry, Itachi, but come on! A self-proclaimed god leading an organization with matching outfits? It sounds like something out of a bad storybook. You've got to see how ridiculous that sounds."
Kisame shrugged. "When you put it that way, kid, it does sound pretty crazy. But don't let the theatrics fool you. Our leader's no joke. He's powerful and has a vision for the world that... well, let's just say it's different."
I tilted my head, curious now. "A vision, huh? Let me guess—world domination, peace through fear, or something equally cliché?"
Kisame's grin widened, showing his sharp teeth. "You're sharper than you look, brat. But you'll have to figure out the details on your own if you survive long enough to meet him."
I rolled my eyes. "Great, more cryptic nonsense. Look, I'm not here to join your little cosplay group. I'm here to make sure my friends, family, and this world stay safe. Whatever your 'leader' is planning, you can bet I'll stop it if it threatens any of that."
Itachi's Sharingan flared for a moment as he studied me. "Your confidence borders on arrogance, Naruto. Be careful—it can be your undoing."
"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before," I said with a dismissive wave. "But you know what's funny? I think deep down, you don't fully believe in this 'organization' either. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here, listening to me talk about family, home, and hope."
For the first time, Itachi seemed to hesitate. Kisame glanced between us, his grin fading slightly as the tension grew.
"Let's go, Kisame," Itachi said abruptly, turning to leave. "We've stayed here too long."
"Wait, before you leave, at least tell me where your so-called organization, Akatsuki, is located," I asked, leaning forward with feigned nonchalance.
Itachi's eyes narrowed slightly. "Why do you need to know?"
I shrugged, playing it cool. "Let me think... Ah, just to take a peek."
Kisame chuckled darkly, crossing his arms. "It's located in Amegakure."
"Amegakure, huh? The place where it rains all the time," I muttered, thinking aloud. "Wait… Jiraiya once told me about taking three disciples there after the Second Ninja War. He said they had some potential. Have you ever heard of someone named Yahiko?"
Itachi and Kisame exchanged a glance before shaking their heads. "No," they replied in unison.
"Alright… What about Nagato Uzumaki?" I pressed, trying to piece the puzzle together.
Again, they shook their heads.
"At least tell me if you've heard of Konan," I asked, watching their expressions closely.
This time, there was a subtle reaction. Kisame finally spoke, "Yes, there's a woman named Konan in the Akatsuki. She's close to our leader."
"Oh, so one of Jiraiya's disciples ended up in Akatsuki," I mused. Then, something Kisame said clicked in my mind. "Wait, did you just say she's close to your leader?"
Both Itachi and Kisame nodded.
"What's your leader's name?" I asked, my curiosity growing.
"He calls himself Pain," Itachi replied, his voice as cold as ever.
"And what does this Pain look like?" I pressed further.
"He's around 20 to 25 years old, has orange hair, and facial piercings," Kisame described.
"Orange hair," I murmured, the pieces slowly falling into place. "Jiraiya once mentioned his disciples had orange, indigo, and red hair. So, this leader of yours might be one of them…"
My interest was piqued further, and I couldn't hold back my eagerness. "Now I really want to see what Akatsuki is all about. Can you take me with you?"
Itachi and Kisame's response was immediate and synchronized. "No, we can't."
I smirked, unfazed by their rejection. "Fine, then. I'll make my way to Amegakure on my own and find out who and what Akatsuki really is."
Itachi gave me a sharp, calculating look. "You won't find what you're looking for, Naruto. And if you do... it won't end well for you."
I smiled, unfazed. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But if there's one thing I've learned, it's that finding the truth is worth the risk."
Kisame chuckled, his shark-like grin widening. "You've got guts, kid. But I wouldn't recommend getting too close to Pain. He's not someone you want to underestimate."
"Don't worry, I won't," I said, my tone shifting slightly. "But if the Akatsuki has something to do with the kind of world I'm fighting to protect, then I need to know what's really going on. And maybe, just maybe, I'll be the one to put an end to it."
Itachi said nothing for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he studied me. "It seems you're set on this path, Naruto. But remember, it's not always as simple as you think. Sometimes, even with all the power in the world, you can't change the inevitable."
I grinned, shaking my head. "You think too much, Itachi. I'll figure it out in my own way, and when the time comes, I'll make sure I'm ready."
Before they disappeared into the shadows, Kisame shot me a final glance. "You're a brave one, kid. Just be careful. The world isn't as kind as you might think."
With that, they were gone, leaving me to contemplate everything they'd said.
"Guess I've got a lot of work to do," I muttered, thinking about Amegakure and what I'd learned about Akatsuki. It wasn't just about stopping them; it was about understanding them, finding their weaknesses, and figuring out how they tied into everything I was trying to protect.
I turned to Sasuke, who had been silent the entire time, his expression unreadable. "You heard all that, huh?"
"Yeah," he replied quietly, his eyes still fixed on the spot where his brother had disappeared. "You sure about this? Akatsuki... they're not just some group of rogue ninjas. They have a lot of power behind them."
"I'm sure," I said, clapping him on the back. "But this is our fight now. We've got to stay ahead of them. I don't know what they're really after, but I will find out."
Sasuke gave me a small nod, though he still seemed uncertain. "Just don't get too reckless, Naruto. The stakes are higher than you think."
"Don't worry about me," I grinned. "I've got this."
But deep down, I knew the road ahead was going to be anything but easy.
