Kara overlooked one thing—she was no longer Oracle Man but a female version of Superman. She was now Supergirl.
In every way, Dani was seeing her face for the first time.
But that didn't stop Dani from recognizing her voice immediately. "Kara? You're finally here! Save me quickly!"
Dani's current situation was extremely precarious. She was pinned against a pane of glass by an invisible force, several meters above the ground. Alongside her were two others: a black woman and a middle-aged white man.
Kara would have reached them in seconds, but suddenly, a transparent wall blocked her path. She turned her head and saw a man with an abnormally large head standing below, staring at her with unsettling eyes.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
Kara didn't bother to reply. "Get out of my way," she said coldly.
With a roar, a terrifying force erupted from her body—it was telekinesis. The transparent wall shattered instantly.
The wall itself had been a product of a telekinetic ability, likely created by Hector Hammond. But Kara's power far outclassed his, and the backlash hurled Hammond away as if struck by a heavy hammer.
At the same time, the force holding Dani and the others dissipated, causing all three to fall. Kara acted immediately. She reached out, catching Dani in her arms, holding her in a princess-carry position, while her telekinesis gently stopped the descent of the other two.
Dani naturally wrapped her arms around Kara's neck and looked at her in awe. "I thought you were just Oracle Man. What's going on?"
Kara shrugged. The truth was that Dani had suspected her identity as Oracle Man, but Kara had taken a calculated risk to arrive as quickly as possible, even if it compromised her secret. There was no turning back now.
"I'll explain later. What's the deal with the big-headed guy?" Kara asked, floating mid-air with Dani still in her arms. She turned her gaze toward Hector Hammond, who was beginning to recover from her telekinetic strike.
Dani briefly explained, "That's Dr. Hector Hammond, the son of Councilman Hammond. He's been dissecting alien corpses for research. Somehow, he got infected by alien material and lost control. Now he has telekinetic powers like yours."
Kara sighed. "Let's save the backstory for later. How long has this been going on?"
Before Dani could respond, the black woman and the white man approached. Dani got out of Kara's arms and introduced the black woman.
"Kara, this is my boss, Amanda Waller. She oversees our work with mysterious incidents like this one."
Kara's eyebrows shot up. Amanda Waller? Of all people, Dani's boss was her?
Amanda glanced at Kara and introduced herself curtly. "Waller."
Kara didn't react outwardly but couldn't help thinking, Great, just my luck.
"Let's focus," Amanda said firmly. "What's the situation with Hector Hammond?"
The councilman, Hammond, turned to his son. "Hector, stop this! I'm trying to help you."
Kara rolled her eyes. "Another self-righteous parent 'helping' their kid, huh?" she muttered.
Hector screamed in rage. "Help me? You've only ever controlled me!" A surge of telekinetic energy rippled through the air, aiming straight at Kara and the others.
"Not happening," Kara said, countering the attack with her own telekinesis. Her power overwhelmed Hector's, suppressing his force entirely.
"Why are you protecting him?" Hector shouted at Kara.
"Because I'm a superhero," Kara replied simply. "I don't let people hurt others, no matter what."
Hector's eyes widened, and a strange transformation took place. His eyes turned a solid, glowing yellow—no whites, no pupils. Kara immediately sensed a shift in his power. It was growing stronger.
She frowned. "You've got a backer, don't you? Someone or something feeding you power." It was as if Hector were a conduit, a transformer connected to a far greater energy source.
Still, Kara stood firm. "Even if that's the case, you're not strong enough to take me on. Bring your boss here, and maybe I'll break a sweat."
At that moment, a green figure flew into the room through the hole Kara had created earlier.
"Whoa! What happened here?" the newcomer asked.
Kara turned and saw a man in a green uniform with a glowing green ring and a domino mask. She immediately recognized him.
Green Lantern.
The momentary distraction was all Hector needed. He abandoned the telekinetic struggle with Kara and turned to flee.
