Capítulo 75: Chapter 75: The Most Shocking Scene

The runtime of "The Rock" is noticeably shorter, and as Anna and Sinead walked out of the theater, the screening of "Interview with the Vampire" was still going on.

"Hello, I'm a movie consultant from TPPCZ."

As soon as they reached the theater's lobby, a young man stopped them. This situation was common, and Anna had encountered it before

"Can I ask you a few questions?" Seeing them nod, he quickly asked, "Did you think 'The Rock' was good?"

"So far, it's the best action movie I've ever seen!" Erin replied first. "I will definitely watch it again."

"The film is nearly two hours long, but it didn't feel long at all; time flew by, and before I knew it, it was over." Anna thought for a moment and added, "I can only describe it as shocking; even now, I can't calm the excitement in my heart."

"Which character or actor impressed you the most?" the man continued to ask.

"Christopher Lee!" Erin jumped in again. "He's almost seventy, yet he's fantastic in this action film, with a powerful presence. Every move he makes exudes a cool and fierce vibe, and that British accent is so charming!"

"I think it's the character's design that makes Ed Harris's performance as General Hammer more outstanding," Anna offered a different opinion. "His deep love for his late wife and care for his men are portrayed perfectly through his seasoned acting, showing a responsible and loyal soldier."

"Thank you!"

*The young man handed each of them a questionnaire and a signature pen featuring the design of "The Rock." Without hesitation, Anna and Erin marked the questionnaire with an A+, handed it back, and kept the pen as a small gift.

One after another, more people participated in the prize-winning survey by this consulting company. Anna noticed that, without exaggeration, ninety-nine percent of them praised "The Rock," and many, like her and Sinead, were extremely satisfied.

*It wasn't surprising; those who attended the midnight screening were true action film enthusiasts. In terms of pure action films since the 1990s, can anyone name one more exciting than "The Rock"?*

She certainly couldn't think of one.

Not long after, "Interview with the Vampire" ended as well. Anna's three companions walked out, directly declining several inquiries. When they reached the front, Anna noticed they looked sleepy and dazed, seemingly not in good spirits, entirely unlike Anna and Erin's excitement.

"How was the film?" Anna asked.

"It was great! Peter and Cruise were absolutely stunning!"

The girl who spoke yawned widely, rubbing her eyes. Only then did she appear somewhat awake. "But the movie was too long, and the pacing was slow. It felt somewhat dull, making me want to sleep."

"Alright, alright, let's head back to sleep!" Erin pulled the others along as they walked outside. "I've called home; the car and driver are waiting outside."

After Erin and Anna returned to their dorm at New York University, they discussed a few movie plot points before finally drifting into a sweet slumber, while in Los Angeles, the midnight show was just wrapping up.

"Come clean…"

After exiting the theater, Kunitz fiddled with the signature pen he had just received, asking Jones and Allen and the others, "Who didn't choose A+?"

"Do you think we'd give a rating lower than A+ for a thrilling movie that surpassed 'Speed'?" Allen waved his hand, uninterested in Kunitz's question, and changed the topic. "Hey, guys! Now that we've finished watching 'The Rock,' what did you think was the most shocking scene?"

"The bathroom!" Kunitz shouted first. "The dialogue between the SEAL team leader and General Hammer was the most shocking!"

"Yes, exactly in the bathroom!" another companion echoed. "Especially the soldier under the shower, who could have survived but chose to uphold their oath of life and death…"

"I think it was the opening scene!" Jones said slowly. "The slow-motion military salute between General Hammer and the soldier; I still remember it clearly!"

"I agree!" Allen added, "The emotional impact of the bathroom scene was too direct and crude; I prefer the lengthy segment of General Hammer at the beginning!"

"And…" someone else chimed in, "the moment General Hammer was about to launch the missile, the scene shifted to the peaceful life outside the island, and in the end, he couldn't bring himself to create a disaster and redirected the missile."

*"General Hammer shouted—cease fire!"*

"The opening voiceover, 'They won't come to save us, right, sir?' It had such a strong sense of immersion!"

"The conversation between Gusby and John Mason." Kunitz mimicked the movie character's emphasis as he said, "I'll do my best! Losers always complain they did their best, while winners can get the beauty queen!"

"Duke Rosenberg's movies always deliver some life lessons while providing humorous relief."

"Let's not forget how many beautiful scenes and visuals there were in the film…"

"And the soundtrack…"

Every time the sun rises over the horizon, a new day must come.

In a luxury suite at the Fairmont Hotel on Mason Street in San Francisco, Duke, wearing pajamas, walked barefoot to the door, opened it, and received a thick stack of newspapers from the waiter. He handed over a tip and closed the door, returning to the bedroom.

On the soft, white bed, Sinead lay naked, propped on her stomach. Her perky backside was smooth and enticing, particularly contrasting with her snowy white skin. There were red marks that seemed slightly swollen, faintly showing handprints, as if she had just been cruelly beaten.

"Hey, Sinead, aren't you getting up?"

Throwing the newspapers onto the pillow, Duke lay beside Sinead, extending one hand to slowly caress her slender legs, finally resting on her red, perky backside, giving it a couple of light squeezes. The soft and bouncy touch at his fingertips was simply enjoyable.

"Duke!"

From the sound of Sinead's sharp intake of breath, it was clear she was not enjoying this moment. She turned to look at her backside and angrily said, "You're too rough!"

"Hey, darling, don't forget that you were the one shouting for me to hit harder last night." Duke put on an innocent expression. "You looked like you were really enjoying it, with that high-pitched voice…"

Seeing the increasing ire in Sinead's blue eyes, Duke raised his hands in surrender. "It's all my fault; I'll take care of you today."

Duke originally thought their encounter would be just a one-night stand, but after this second time, he observed that Sinead seemed to have a slight masochistic tendency, especially when he took her from behind. If he spanked her perky backside hard, Sinead would clearly get more excited.

"I want the newspaper."

Propping herself up, Sinead crawled toward the head of the bed. As she turned over, Duke quickly placed a soft pillow under her backside. The two collaborated seamlessly, almost like a real couple; unfortunately, neither party had any intention of pursuing a romantic relationship.

Receiving the newspaper from Duke, Sinead casually leaned back against the headboard, displaying her beautiful and sexy body without reservation. But Duke's attention wasn't on that; he was more interested in the newspaper's review of "The Rock." The film had officially premiered in North America since midnight yesterday, and the promotional efforts would be maximized

Before Duke could act, Sinead took the other newspapers away. She casually flipped through them, found the entertainment section, and tossed the rest on the floor.

"Want to read?" Sinead raised her eyebrows provocatively at him.

Tilting his head to admire her beautifully rounded backside sinking into the mattress, Duke slowly stroked her, and Sinead rolled her eyes, hurriedly saying, "I'll read it to you."

"'Los Angeles Times,' Kenneth Turan's short review." She glanced at Duke and continued, "'The Rock' is the terminator of other action films, a glorious explosion of summer testosterone. The film has the typical fast-paced and explosive style of Duke Rosenberg, with jaw-dropping death counts. At the same time, it's particularly entertaining."

"Um… he gave the film an 8.5." Sinead added.

"Go on." Duke maintained the same expression.

"'The Rock' is a lavish popcorn entertainment movie." Sinead picked up another newspaper, "This is from 'Rolling Stone' reviewer Peter Travers, who gave the film an 8.8."

"And Roger Ebert." She picked up the Chicago Sun-Times. "This is a first-rate action thriller with lots of variety and humor! It deserves a thumbs-up!"

"Congratulations, honey." Sniead came over and kissed Duke hard on the face. "The famous Roger Ebert not only gave your film a 9, but also gave it a thumbs up!"

"Warner's PR is great." Duke praised Warner Bros. and asked, "Did he comment on Interview with the Vampire?"

"Interview with the Vampire takes the audience through a horrifying yet extraordinary experience, scene after scene. 9 points, a thumbs up!"

After hearing what Sniead read out, Duke suddenly had an urge to laugh. Roger Ebert was worthy of being Roger Ebert. He played this trick beautifully. The quality of the film itself was not bad and it could completely preserve his reputation. The film review neither offended 20th Century Fox nor violated Warner's bottom line. At the same time, he could receive benefits from both sides. He really deserved the title of the number one film critic in the United States!

Checking the time, Duke stopped Sniead from reading any further, took the phone from the bedside table, and called Robin Grand. The film critics' reviews and so on were all false for commercial films, and the box office was the most real market response.
