In the pitch-black backyard, flames erupted violently into the sky, and four ferocious flaming dragons roared as they opened their jaws wide, ready to devour the person in front of them.
"What's this supposed to be? Who do you think you're underestimating?"
Uchiha Gin looked at the imposing fire dragons, but showed no interest. This was supposed to be a test for an old warrior? At least they could've tried harder for a family member.
Fire Style: Dragon Flame Technique
Seeing his cousin tirelessly spewing fire behind the dragons, Uchiha Gin couldn't help but feel a tinge of emotion.
Who would've thought that his cousin, at this age, could still manage such a high-level fire style technique?
Bang!
As the fire dragons charged toward him from all sides, Uchiha Gin, who was lamenting the relentlessness of time, calmly watched, his eyes gradually turning scarlet. As the tomoe in his right eye slowly spun, black flames suddenly surged from the bodies of the fire dragons, engulfing them in an instant. In the blink of an eye, the dragons composed of flames were consumed by an endless sea of black fire, leaving no trace behind.
Satisfied with the vanishing dragons, Uchiha Gin closed his right eye, causing the black flames to disappear without a trace. What had been a heated battlefield moments ago now stood completely still. Uchiha Madara, aged and holding a fan, stood alone, his expression blank, but with an emotion that was hard to decipher.
"Dear cousin, you could've at least brought me some better goodies, like the Rinnegan. I mean, this fire style is... a bit lackluster, don't you think?"
Uchiha Gin sighed in disappointment, shaking his head at his cousin. Just as he was about to continue, he noticed something odd. Madara wasn't looking at him with his usual Rinnegan, but with empty, black sockets.
"Wait… where are your eyes? Don't tell me you actually gave them to that red-haired kid?"
Surprised, Uchiha Gin realized that his cousin had indeed given away his Rinnegan, which explained why his test was so... minimal. Clearly, he was out of resources.
"Well, alright, I'll forgive you this time. But next time, make sure to bring something decent—like a Chibaku Tensei or maybe even a Limbo. Otherwise, we're going to have some problems."
Uchiha Gin continued lecturing his cousin, listing high-level techniques as if he were ordering from a menu. All the while, his cousin wore a troubled expression, clearly overwhelmed by the demands.
"Forget it. Telling an AI like you doesn't help anyway. You don't listen to user feedback."
Sighing, Uchiha Gin waved dismissively at Madara, signaling that he could leave. However, unexpectedly, Madara stubbornly continued his attack, waving his fan and forming hand signs with his free hand as he rushed forward.
"Well then, let's give you a little taste of childhood trauma."
Seeing his cousin's defiance, Uchiha Gin couldn't help but admire his resilience. He quickly formed his own hand signs, summoning a vast amount of chakra.
Wood Style: Great Tentacle Technique
Suddenly, countless tentacle-like branches erupted from the ground, wrapping around the approaching Madara. But Madara, recognizing the familiar technique, came to a screeching halt, his expression shifting to one of discomfort. He canceled his jutsu and raised his hand, summoning a rippling barrier from the sky to swallow him up.
"Daily system refresh: Fire Style: Dragon Flame Technique acquired."
A system notification echoed in Uchiha Gin's mind.
"Huh? A NPC can escape mid-battle now? These updates are way too fast."
Shaking his head in disbelief, Uchiha Gin pocketed the newly acquired technique and headed toward his newly-built mansion. Upon entering, he found two people who had been left in the house earlier, now staring each other down, electricity almost visible between them.
"Haven't seen you two in a while, and already getting along?"
Teasing the two, Uchiha Gin didn't expect the seemingly quiet Hikari to be so influenced by Senju Itama, the kid standing across from her.
"Who's getting along with this brat (old hag)?!"
Both turned their heads simultaneously, shouting at Uchiha Gin.
"Wow, such perfect timing."
He chuckled, amused by their synchronized reaction.
"Enough. Seeing you two getting along so well puts my mind at ease."
Uchiha Gin watched as the two stormed off, side by side, bickering all the way up to the third floor. They glanced at each other, then went to separate rooms, leaving the center room vacant—for Uchiha Gin himself.
The night passed without incident.
The next morning, standing at the door with his belongings packed, Uchiha Gin called up to the still-drowsy Senju Itama.
"Hey, kid. Guard the house properly, and I'll bring you something from the Land of Lightning."
"Yeah, yeah. Take care of Haruka while you're at it," the half-asleep boy yawned back.
"Let's go!"
Uchiha Gin, waving his hand, led Hikari toward the clan's gates. As they approached, a purple-clad figure awaited them.
"You're early, Haruka!"
Uchiha Gin smiled at the girl who stood nervously at the gate, gripping her bag tightly.
"No, I just got here," Uchiha Haruka replied, forcing a calm smile. But anyone could see the nervousness in her eyes. Despite her usual confident demeanor, this was her first mission outside the village, and her unease was clear. Her calmness was merely a façade, honed through years of masking her emotions.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine. I'll carry you through this," Uchiha Gin said, gently patting her purple hair, his touch seemingly soothing her nerves.
"Let's see… the Hagoromo Clan should be just a few kilometers away in that forest," he said, studying the map his uncle had given him.
"Alright, Uchiha Squad, move out!"
Feeling a bit excited about leading a team for the first time, Uchiha Gin marched ahead. Hikari and Haruka, however, took a few steps back, embarrassed by his enthusiasm.
"Isn't that Uchiha Gin? The disgrace of the Uchiha clan?"
"That's right. He used to challenge everyone, even kids, and never won a single match."
"Really? He looks normal, but he's such an idiot?"
"Shh, don't let him hear you! He's the clan leader's nephew."
"Let's get out of here!"
Ignoring the whispering onlookers, Uchiha Gin smirked. "They just don't understand my ways. Weaklings need confidence; strong ones need challenges."
Turning to Haruka, who had distanced herself, Uchiha Gin sighed dramatically, "Haruka, even you don't understand me?"
"Gin-san, you challenged me too. Your strange fighting style… I really didn't get it."
Haruka recalled their sparring session years ago. Back then, she barely knew him, but he approached her asking for a duel. To her surprise, the fight had barely started when he slid on his knees.
'Haruka, your shuriken technique is godlike! I, Uchiha Gin, declare you the strongest Shuriken Queen!'
"Heh…"
Remembering that moment brought a smile to Haruka's face. Seeing her smile, Uchiha Gin knew he had achieved his goal.
"Alright, time to head out. I'll explain the mission on the way."
The three of them sprinted toward their destination.
"Gin-san, why did you call me the Shuriken Queen?"
"Uh… maybe because I saw in you the potential to be a clan leader."
