Capítulo 8: Tomboy Mountains

Gary came over and took a long look at the video.

His eyes widened in disbelief, as did many others. "Red caught himself a freaking Landorus?"

"The term 'a' isn't exactly appropriate for this situation; this is the type of unique legend." Sidney said.

Legendaries differed from mythical pokemon, but a few of them were not exclusive and even mated and lived in groups, using methods that the Pokemon community could easily surmise. Obviously, Landorus wasn't so legendary, and it was unique as a lifeform and in its relationship with the weather.

Like Tornadus and Thundurus, the community had no idea how or why he was born. But everyone assumed that there was no second Landorus.

There were no ancient stories or fables that hinted at the possibility or fact that Landorus existed in multiple manifestations.

"True." Gary said, then relaxed as he looked at the cheery and chaotic comments. After a while, he snorted and said, "Those guys haven't stopped spreading those ridiculous rumors about Blue and Red, have they?"

Sidney smiled, "You mean the half-sibling thing theory?" He took another look, "It gains more legitimacy in the public's mind each year that Blue and Red listen to their sponsors and don't even try to deny."

Obviously, Red and Blue were not brothers. In this world, there was no controversial theory that Samuel Oak was Red or Ash's secret father.

It was just that Blue and Red had similar names that were color-themed, plus the fact that they were born on the same day and at the same time in the hospital, plus the fact that they had a lot of Pokemon in their teams that were identical, that lent credence to some crazy fan theories.

It was just the fanbase behind them who wanted to go crazy; they didn't believe their own crazy talk.

"Meh. I don't want to be thought of as that idiot Ash's brother." Gary said. "They should argue against it sometime soon."

"Don't worry, nobody really believes any of these rumors anyway; it's just a little fun." Sidney told. "You don't look anything like brothers."

The questions of how Red managed to get a Landorus arose again, so Yellow did not hesitate to post another short video explaining how Red met and caught Landorus in several recent encounters. She talked about the difficult battles, including the number of Quick Balls and Hyper Balls that Red had to give up.

Basically, Red had been extremely fortunate, and it was difficult to predict whether he would ever catch another legendary in his lifetime after experiencing so much luck.

It was even more difficult to say because there was no such thing as a Master Ball in the world.

Legendaries were incredibly powerful, and the majority of them were old, experienced, and difficult to catch off guard, with a low catch rate even using hyperballs.

Sidney and Gary were far removed from legendaries, and their only concern was how to escape them if they ever encountered any dangerous ones. They weren't too concerned about Yellow's explanation.

They went downstairs and spent some time with Daisy and their parents.

They were still waiting for Gary to return home when he suddenly called Daisy, and they talked for a while. He wasn't coming home anymore.

He didn't mind being a villain because it was part of his brand and his sponsors liked that image of him, but he hated losing to Red.

Red had caught a Landorus, so he planned to try to catch one of the other two weather legends.

He had received a random and anonymous tip about where Red had recently taken a "so-called secret break," which was a region he had never visited before, so he went there: Unova.

Sidney and Gary's parents were disappointed, but after hearing the news, Gary wasn't the only one who was pleased.

Sidney didn't care much at first, but he wasn't opposed to taking baby steps and gradually gaining the public's attention. He knew that with Red in town, he wouldn't have to worry about anything in that direction.

His suspicions were confirmed the next morning, when it was discovered that Red had arrived quietly in the middle of the night.

He skipped the mayor's welcome and ribbon ceremony on the outskirts of town and chased away unwanted people in town at night.

One of his Pokemon teams was patrolling the town.

Landorus and they were both nowhere to be found, as they appeared to be very discreet.

Daisy only got wind of this when she went to Delia's house to deliver some refreshments and sugary treats, as she often did for the woman she regarded as her potential mother-in-law.

However, it wasn't the only interesting thing. Pallet Town was a geographical area with fertile land, but something had clearly changed this morning. The grass appeared taller, and the air became noticeably moister all of a sudden.

All of this had nothing to do with Sidney, nevertheless.

He had no interest in meeting or greeting Red; in his memories, he was already very familiar with the guy, almost like family.

Aside from his strength, Red was not a particularly pleasant person to converse with or discuss life with, unlike Blue.

Sidney already had a lot of Pokeballs thanks to his parents' generous gifts the day before, and he didn't want to waste time.

He arrived at Green's house early, knocked, and broke into her upstairs bedroom to wake her up, which she shared with Leaf.

He wanted to invite them to go to the mountains, waterfalls, and streams behind town for a day of outdoor training, fishing, and, if possible, catching Pokemon.

They had grass and water pokemon, so the environment was ideal for them when Gary added his electric type to protect against flying types.

Sidney wanted to meet the remainder of his quotas. Although he was not in a hurry to fill them all, he wished to catch a flying type, which he desperately needed.

Any would suffice, ugly or not.

He also wanted a Feebas, despite the fact that they were more difficult to find than Magikarp and other water types. They lived in both salted and unsalted water.

In Kanto, they were especially common and easy to find behind Pallet Town, and it was not uncommon for trainers and people from other regions to camp there. They would sometimes last weeks or even months.

Milotic was the desired future water type for Sidney's first team. It was a world in which evolution had nothing to do with unusual requirements, skills, or items. So he didn't have to worry about cultivating and maximizing beauty or anything else.

Gary told him last night that he wanted a Gyarados, so he was definitely going for a carp.

It was a popular Pokemon among beginners, with a mega evolution. However, in this world, any Pokemon at the final evolution stage, including a Tropius, had the potential to mega evolve.

It was just that in many cases, having a Mega was less common than having a mythical or higher.

Sidney didn't have to worry about strengthening Pokemon with his entries, though, Mega or not.

He could let fate take the wheel and enjoy his choices without thinking too much about it.

Anyway, for him, it was a case of "killing two birds with one stone." He lived near a good fishing area. He and his friends and brother hadn't decided when they'd leave town yet, so they had the opportunity to finish this water goal early.

**********

Simultaneously, behind Pallet Town, beneath a tent, a 12-year-old girl awoke in the misty mountains, near a waterfall and its adjacent aquamarine pool.

The girl had a short orange hairstyle that was neatly secured into a side ponytail with a blue elastic band. She had striking green eyes and a fair complexion. She wore a yellow tank top that showed off her belly button, red suspenders, denim shorts that ended at her thighs, and red high-top sneakers with a yellow interior and white laces.

If someone from Cerulean City happened to be on the scene, they would be taken aback, recognizing her as the person who had firmly managed the gym for the previous year. However, they would be unaware that none of the Pokémon she used were her own. The Pokémon belonged to her seemingly lazy sisters, who were actually quite talented.

Regardless, this young girl, Misty, felt sick and decided that her birthday was the perfect time to embark on her own journey.

Being the gym leader? That was so exhausting!

Any Dick, Tom, or Harry could come and challenge, including young bug catchers!

Misty began to understand the allure her sisters found in being lazy throughout the year, and eventually turned against them!

She left the gym and ran here.

A location where no one would expect to find her, despite the fact that she had reasons to be here given her identity and the type of Pokemon she enjoyed.

Misty came here to confirm a rumor about Feebas, in addition to skipping home in a hurry.

She only left home and brought one Pokemon, an ordinary and obedient bird Pokemon. She needed a flying type because her biggest fear was bugs.

This Pokemon she used was a Doduo, and it would help her overcome her fear of the wild and form her own team. So far, it had gone well, but now it was time to form the team she desired.

It didn't really help her catch water type, but it did love to eat fish, so it was good company to be around water areas with her and her fishing pole.

It was also faster than her bike, so riding around with it was great, and she could even climb on it.

"Time to get some breakfast, Doduo," she said, still half asleep as she rubbed her face and exited the tent near the water. She slept well last night, and she hadn't slept that well since she left Cerulean City.

She was adjusting to life outside. At least here, she didn't have to be the least loved of the four children, and she didn't have to do anything to fit in with her sisters.

Misty was tired of that life and wanted to try to live on her own without worrying about being accepted.

What if I am a tomboy? It's not a crime.

Misty didn't want to care, and in the wild, it made no difference.

Being a tomboy was about survival.

Right.

She couldn't help but think this way, even if she would scream like a perfectly feminine young lady whenever she saw a bug that Doduo would quickly peck with appetite or chase away if he wasn't fast enough to catch it.
