What is a girl's room supposed to be like? I wouldn't know because I've never been in one. That thought hadn't even crossed my mind once. Sure, I've seen them in movies—decorated with flowers, pink stuff, and stuffed animals—but what I'm seeing here is different. Saiya's room is different.
The house itself is somewhat large, with two bedrooms and a living room, one side of which serves as a kitchen.
Saiya's room, opposite Sarada's, was nothing like the ones in the movies—the only other place I'd ever seen a girl's room. Everything was black… well, not entirely black, but dark blue. The curtains, the bed, the wallpaper—everything.
"Are you a goth girl?"
"What is that?"
"Haa, never mind." I sighed, rubbing my hands together. It felt kind of weird being in a girl's room.
"Relax, Sarada won't come anytime soon."
"You say that like we're going to do something weird."
"Oh, so I'm the only one who thought transforming into a Nephilim wasn't weird?"
"That's—"
"Hmm?"
"That's not what I meant."
"Yes, I knew what you were talking about... oh, boys, you're all perverts."
What's her deal? She's the one who brought up Sarada.
"Anything I can get you? Drink?"
"We came here to train—"
"Energy drink won't do?"
"Fine."
She left me alone in the room. I glanced around, noting the nightlife pictures on the walls. They reminded me of the ones at her family's place in Tokyo. Come to think of it, I still haven't told her I passed by her house. Should I tell her? Is that a good idea?
"Here's your drink."
She handed me a can, and I flipped the tab, taking a sip. My eyes accidentally caught a glimpse of Saiya taking off her shirt, leaving only her tank top on. I saw it—her bra, and the edge of her breast.
I coughed out the drink, both through my mouth and nose.
"What the hell are you doing?! I thought we came to train!"
She turned to look at me.
"Yes, we are."
She placed a rectangular iron plate on her chest, and just like mine, a belt popped out, strapping around her shoulders. Her suit followed, covering every part of her body.
"Oh my god, you don't need to take off your shirt to gear up!"
"Huh? What's wrong with that? I feel the heat inside, and it's uncomfortable, you know. Jeez… what's wrong with you?"
She walked over to the wall and pressed on it. It clicked in like a button, and one side of the wall flipped open, revealing a dark room—or rather, a passage.
"I'm heading inside. Follow me."
"Y-Yes!"
As I expected, there were stairs leading downward, lit dimly enough to see the steps.
"Where are we heading?" I asked, curious.
"To the training ground."
"Oh? Awesome. You have a training ground in your house?"
"Captain Leonard did it for me. He does anything I ask."
"Huh… that's, nice." So, we've got a sugar daddy relationship in the team? Didn't see that coming.
"I know you're thinking something weird."
"Then you know nothing about me, lady."
We continued down in silence until Saiya spoke again.
"There was a time I stayed in the barracks, but I didn't really fit in there. So after I got my first paycheck, Sarada and I pooled our money to buy this house. The Captain recommended it. He said it had a training facility, but I didn't believe it until I saw it myself… so that was another reason I bought it." She turned and looked at me. "...Happy now?"
I ignored her and looked away. Soon, a light became visible at the end of the staircase. As we approached, the light revealed a room—a completely white room.
"Awesome!" I exclaimed without thinking.
"Right?"
The room was enormous, so big it was hard to believe it was underground. One side of the room was lined with weapons—blades of various types, and guns too.
"Alright, we're here. Get ready."
Saiya walked over to the weapons and grabbed two blades.
"Just like that?"
"Yeah, just like that."
"No rules, no… nothing?"
"Hmm… yeah, I guess."
She nodded.
"Okay, since you won't make one, here's my rule: No matter what you do, don't touch my head." I learned from B back in Kyoto that it's my weak spot, so I need to protect it like it's my heart—or should I say, my core.
"Alright, got you. Now, get ready."
I scanned the room, checking every corner.
"Relax, Ryuma. There are no cameras, and it's soundproof."
I wasn't worried about cameras. I was worried about breaking the room apart. I don't know my exact size when I transform, and I can't control how big I get. It varies.
"Here I go."
In an instant, I transformed. The room was still huge—it could swallow me whole.
"This is good," Saiya said with a wide, almost creepy smile. "Mind you, I won't go easy on you. I'm going all out—flashy as hell—so be prepared."
"Roger—"
"And here's a tip, Look at my legs."
"Huh? Look at your legs? What do you—"
Before I could finish, Saiya vanished. She was right in front of me, but now she was gone.
I looked around but couldn't find her. Suddenly, I lost my balance—my left leg was gone, sliced clean in two. I crashed to the ground, trying to regenerate, when she suddenly appeared on my chest, her blade aimed at my face.
She had a terrifying smile, and she was fast. Was this the effect of the battle suit, or was she just naturally strong?
Either way, if I had to use one word to describe her…
Terrifying.
