The Flash jutsu was an extremely fast attack. With Naruto blocking Satori's movements, Sasuke was confident he could land a direct hit.
However, when he executed the jutsu, the outcome left him stunned. Satori dodged the Flash Strike, or rather, Sasuke missed. It was as if Satori had anticipated his move, twisting its body at the perfect moment to narrowly avoid the attack.
"How is this possible? Its speed shouldn't be this fast," Sasuke muttered in disbelief.
From afar, Aoba watched Sasuke's miss but made no move to assist. He remained a spectator, observing the battle. Against a fully-powered Satori, these four kids wouldn't stand a chance, but against its heavily weakened state, victory was within reach.
What he hadn't told his disciples, however, was about Satori's unique ability.
Aoba himself could evade Satori's sensory perception because of his own unique "cheat," the same way he had once avoided the Yamanaka clan's mental probing. But this was not something his students could replicate.
At the same time, Satori was growing increasingly frustrated. It had just discovered a significant problem, it could sense Sasuke's intent and dodge accordingly.
But when it came to that yellow-haired brat, it was helpless. Naruto attacked with hundreds of clones, swarming from all directions. Even if Satori could sense his intent, what good did it do? There was no way to counter such an assault effectively!
Karin was the first to notice something off. With her superior sensory abilities, she detected the strange pattern in Satori's movements.
"Sasuke, use an area attack!" Karin called out.
Sasuke glanced briefly at Karin without questioning her. He immediately unleashed Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame.
Satori spread its wings to take flight, but a golden chain shot out from within the flames, aiming for its leg.
Satori twisted mid-air, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Though it had been mercilessly pummeled by Aoba earlier, Satori's capabilities shone against ordinary ninjas. Its abilities were nearly overwhelming for most, akin to fighting an entirely different tier of opponent.
Even in its weakened state, Sasuke and Karin together could hardly threaten Satori. But just as it regained the upper hand, Naruto appeared.
Naruto, true to his style as an inexhaustible ninja who didn't rely on chakra cloaks, was relentless.
Hundreds of clones rained down from above, diving onto Satori and forcing it back into the flames. The sheer weight of the clones pinned the creature down.
Struck by yet another powerful jutsu, Satori felt itself nearing its limit. Though it could sense the kids' strategies, its body was no longer able to keep up.
Especially that blond brat, his tactics seemed crude, but with hundreds of clones rushing in, his chaotic strategy was impossible to counter.
"You little brats, die already!" Satori roared, gathering its last reserves of energy to form another red chakra ball. This time, it was determined to launch its ultimate attack.
But just as it began to condense chakra, it sensed something unusual. A massive scroll unfurled above its head.
"What is this... a sealing jutsu?!"
After lying in wait for so long, Sakura finally made her move.
In the original storyline, Sakura was a tragic character. Initially, she admired Sasuke and disliked Naruto, only to end up as teammates with both her crush and the boy she disliked the most.
Over time, she realized the gap between herself and her two teammates, it was a harsh reality. No matter how hard she tried, it was almost impossible to catch up to the two prodigies.
At this stage, Sakura was in her most painful period, which also fostered a unique emotional dependency. She relied on her teammates.
Although her words were often harsh, deep down, she had already come to see Sasuke and Naruto as her pillars of support.
This dependency became a major source of criticism for her. When Pain destroyed the Hidden Leaf, Sakura was powerless, left hoping for Naruto to save the day.
Naruto did arrive, but he wasn't strong enough to defeat Pain. At that moment, it was Hinata who stood before Pain.
That fight marked Hinata's rise as the true heroine and the lowest point for Sakura's reputation.
From the perspective of the original story, this was clearly to give Naruto's canonical love interest, Hinata, more screen time. No one else intervened in that battle, emphasizing Hinata's role.
From a more realistic standpoint, however, it highlighted another issue: Sakura wasn't the type of protagonist who could take on a central, heroic role.
In the original storyline, her battle against the Grass ninja during the Chūnin Exams was her peak moment of popularity. Despite her weakness and ultimate loss, her character fit the mold of a typical shonen heroine. Unfortunately, her development later derailed.
As the story progressed, Sakura gradually lost her shonen heroine template. Outwardly strong, she was inwardly fragile, seeking protection from Naruto and Sasuke. In moments of despair, she instinctively called for one of them to save her.
This character shift was likely a result of the story being stretched too long. Her portrayal became problematic. Even when the author tried to give her more screen time and forced moments of teamwork with Team 7, her reputation never fully recovered.
In contrast, Hinata truly rose to prominence in that same battle. While Sakura was a main character, the author likely put far more effort into Hinata's development.
From the Chūnin Exams to Pain's invasion, the most heartfelt and emotionally impactful scenes all went to Hinata. That's what made her the true heroine.
Hinata and Sakura were polar opposites. Hinata appeared outwardly weak but was inwardly resolute, a textbook example of a shonen protagonist.
Sakura's shift wasn't entirely without merit, though. Her personality made her a perfect match for Sasuke.
Sasuke, with his tsundere nature, would struggle in a relationship with a strong-willed partner. Sakura's outward toughness and inner gentleness balanced him perfectly.
Similarly, Hinata's sensitivity and resolve complemented Naruto's brash and passionate personality. The pairings were ideal.
Aoba had preemptively removed Sakura from Team 7 to spare her from tragedy.
To Aoba, putting Sakura on Team 7 was a tragedy in itself. Pairing an ordinary civilian with two prodigies was simply too cruel.
Sakura's relentless efforts to catch up to her teammates in combat were ultimately misguided. She wasn't suited for a combat-oriented ninja path. Her strong learning abilities and chakra control made her far better suited for medical ninjutsu, sealing techniques, and research.
In the original storyline, she eventually became a medical ninja but was too heavily influenced by Tsunade, leading her down the path of brute strength which was a deviation from her true potential.
Her entire ninja journey had been shaped by external pressures.
Aoba's presence gave her a chance to escape these pressures and choose her own path.
