"Wait..."
"What do you want?" By rights, Itachi wasn't in a position to make demands, but since he suddenly presented this leverage, Aoba decided to give him some face.
"Sasuke has borne far too much that he shouldn't have to. That's... my fault. Aoba Kamikawa, please take care of him."
.....
After being unconscious for a full day and night, Sasuke finally woke up. Upon his awakening, the Curse Mark's power also receded.
"How do you feel?"
"The chakra is... unique. It'll probably take some time to fully master it."
"You're already doing better than I expected. These things can't be rushed."
"I understand. But as for Orochimaru's soul fragments, I can't sense them right now."
"That's even less of a reason to rush. As I've said, the Curse Seal of Heaven is the culmination of all of Orochimaru's research. If it were that easy to unravel, it'd be underestimating him.
I already have a plan to deal with this issue, but it'll take time. For now, our priority is completing the analysis of the Sharingan's ocular power.
Before you joined, I had already isolated the components of ocular power: mental energy, yin-release chakra, and spiritual energy.
I then tried to recombine them in the original proportions to replicate the primal ocular power of the Sharingan. But I failed. Every step of the process was correct, yet it still didn't work.
I have a theory about why: the synthesis of ocular power is missing a key ingredient."
"The Uchiha clan's bloodline?" Sasuke, for once, showed some perceptiveness and guessed Aoba's thoughts.
"Exactly. The Sharingan is a kekkei genkai, which means it's fundamentally tied to the bloodline. It can't be artificially synthesized without it. But now that you're here, this problem might be solvable."
Though the idea was promising, the practical execution was still incredibly difficult. The main issue was that Sasuke couldn't actively manipulate his mental energy and fuse it with the yin-release chakra derived from it.
Many jutsu in the ninja world involve the use of mental energy, but most of them are indirect. Even the Yamanaka clan's secret techniques rely on yin-release chakra to manipulate mental energy indirectly.
Aoba's ability to directly manipulate mental energy was a benefit of being a transmigrator. For the native inhabitants of the ninja world, directly controlling raw mental energy was more difficult than mastering an S-rank jutsu.
"This is indeed a problem, but not an unsolvable one. Look into my eyes and don't resist."
Aoba activated his Sharingan and cast a genjutsu on Sasuke, reentering his spiritual world.
"Don't resist. I'm going to take control of your body and try to replicate the process myself."
Using his will and Sasuke's body, Aoba bypassed all obstacles and began attempting to artificially synthesize primal ocular power.
During this process, he noticed something fascinating: Sasuke's ocular power was incredibly strong, but most of it wasn't stored in his Sharingan. Instead, it was sealed within his brain.
If this massive reservoir of power were to flood into his eyes, combined with his multiple instances of extreme emotional trauma, Sasuke should have already awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
But he hadn't. The vast ocular power remained locked in his brain, inaccessible.
Aoba deduced that this was likely the self-protection mechanism he had hypothesized earlier. Sasuke's body knew it couldn't handle the strain of awakening the Mangekyō, so it suppressed the flow of ocular power.
This self-protection mechanism should exist in all Uchiha, but Sasuke's was particularly robust.
After all, Sasuke was the reincarnation of Indra and possessed bloodline purity likely on par with Madara Uchiha. This mechanism might even have been tampered with by the Sage of Six Paths. After all, if Sasuke awakened too early, like Itachi, and succumbed to kekkei genkai sickness, dying before the final battle, the Sage's plans would become a joke.
Aoba carefully avoided interfering with the sealed ocular power in Sasuke's brain. Instead, he methodically used Sasuke's body to attempt the artificial synthesis of primal ocular power.
The process was not overly complicated but was extremely challenging. Ocular power synthesis had to occur within the eyes, which are extraordinarily delicate organs, and the Sharingan even more so.
Aoba painstakingly experimented bit by bit. After half a day of effort, he finally completed the first successful test.
He had succeeded!
First and foremost, he confirmed that, using Sasuke's body, he could synthesize primal ocular power within the Sharingan, enhancing its power.
However, during the process, Aoba also verified a key point: his hypothesis was correct. Primal ocular power could be synthesized naturally, but only within the body of an Uchiha. Moreover, this primal ocular power couldn't be transferred.
Due to its incomplete nature, the synthesized ocular power would immediately integrate into the Uchiha's Sharingan, making it unusable for any external operations.
In short, this method was only usable by Uchiha. Aoba himself couldn't use it.
This realization left Aoba frustrated. While he had mentally prepared for this possibility, it was still disappointing.
The current situation was somewhat ironic. Aoba could perform the synthesis process but couldn't apply it to himself, whereas Sasuke could apply it to himself but couldn't yet perform the process.
Truly ironic!
Nevertheless, the process was highly beneficial for Sasuke. He experienced an immersive tutorial on how to synthesize primal ocular power. With some practice, it wouldn't be long before he could perform the process independently.
Sasuke gained immensely, while Aoba felt dissatisfied.
He had expended significant effort, only for all the benefits to go to Sasuke. Even though Sasuke was his student, Aoba couldn't help but feel annoyed.
The biggest issue was that if he couldn't synthesize ocular power for himself, the ten three-tomoe Sharingan in his possession became far less valuable.
Aoba's research into this process was motivated by a desire to synthesize ocular power and inject it into his collection of Sharingan, enhancing their power to the limit.
His ultimate goal was to combine this enhanced ocular power with his spiritual energy to trigger its transformation, thereby artificially creating a Mangekyō Sharingan. Now, that idea was effectively dead.
To make matters worse, the Sharingan in his possession had been overused and damaged by Danzo, leaving their neural connections permanently impaired. They couldn't be transplanted into eyes anymore.
This meant that even if Sasuke were to replace his eyes with these Sharingan, artificial synthesis still wouldn't work.
Left with no other options, Aoba decided to initiate his backup plan...
