Chapter 114: New World Monster Battle

"You bastard," Cavendish growled angrily, frustrated by Bartolomeo's barrier fruit, which he couldn't pierce no matter how hard he tried.

Adding to his irritation was Bartolomeo's infuriating taunts. The term "show-off," which he despised, was uttered by Bartolomeo, making Cavendish wish he could slice him into 180 pieces.

Bartolomeo grinned, "Cavendish, do you really think you measure up to my idol, Chiba-sama? Those people must be blind. You're not even worthy to carry shoes for Chiba-sama's younger brother."

"Watching your flamboyant self is sickening," Bartolomeo taunted, provoking Cavendish further, leaving him furious and red-faced, eyes blazing with a desire to devour Bartolomeo whole.

"Bartolomeo, I swear I'll kill you," Cavendish shouted, unleashing sword strikes on the barrier, but to no avail.

"Two idiots," a long-armed man sneered from a distance, disdainfully watching the pair. Known as Ideo, the king of wrecking cannon fighting, he was drawn to Dressrosa by the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form.

One by one, renowned figures from the sea arrived at Dressrosa, attracted by the prize.

Marco and his crew were also exploring the island. Confident in their strength, they moved openly, drawing attention.

They noticed many formidable figures, including Cavendish and Bartolomeo. Marco sighed, "Why are there suddenly so many outstanding young talents? I feel old."

Marco quietly lamented how Cavendish and Bartolomeo already possessed strength comparable to Marine's vice admirals, a level far beyond his own at their age.

Vista chuckled, "Captain Chiba's fame has drawn the world's best talents. Under normal circumstances, we wouldn't see so many."

"Marco, you're not old yet," Vista teased.

Marco laughed, "You're right. We've got a long road ahead. Vista, capturing the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form won't be easy. Need my help?"

Vista grinned, "You think I need your help? If you win it for me, I wouldn't have the face to eat it. I'm set on this Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form, but I'm worried it won't be as powerful as advertised."

To maximize impact, Doflamingo invested heavily in promoting the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form, exaggerating its power, claiming it could instantly grant Commodore-level strength, with potential to reach Marine Admiral or even Yonko-level.

Doflamingo's boasts, combined with Chiba's reputation, lent credibility to his claims.

On the street, another group of powerful pirates appeared, led by a bald old man with a white beard and green cloak, exuding a formidable aura.

He was Chinjao, the leader of the Happo Navy from the Kano Country, known as the 12th generation drill.

Once known as Don Chinjao, his awl-shaped head was dented in a fight with Garp, making him a laughingstock and hindering access to treasures beneath the ice.

Chinjao came to compete for the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form, hoping to gain power and reclaim the treasures for the Happo Navy's prosperity.

Beside Chinjao was a tall, muscular pirate with brown skin and the number 13 tattooed on his abdomen, indicating his status as the 13th generation leader, known as Sai.

Accompanying Sai was his brother, Boo, the 13th generation deputy leader, similarly tattooed and carrying a large sword.

Behind them, a throng of pirates followed. As Chinjao overheard discussions about Chiba's prowess, he scoffed, "Just a brat. If I meet him, I'll teach him a lesson."

Sai interjected, "Old man, Chiba's formidable. Let me handle him if we cross paths."

Chinjao bristled, "Are you saying I can't beat a brat?"

"Old man, they say he killed Sakazuki and was expelled from the Marines. You're no match."

"Killed Sakazuki? I doubt it. Sounds like Marine slander."

"Regardless, if Chiba appears, he's mine to deal with."

"Sai, don't get cocky. Think you can beat me?"

As tensions rose, Boo intervened, "We're here for the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form. Let's focus on that first."

"Hmph," both men grunted, Sai adding, "If we meet in the arena, I won't hold back."

"Afraid of you, brat?" Chinjao retorted.

As they bickered, another pirate ship arrived, and a figure disembarked.

The man was tall, with short red hair, strong muscles, and a skull tattoo on his arm. He wore a metal-styled outfit, marked by a flower-like scarf.

It was Charlotte Katakuri, one of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders, wielding the Mochi-Mochi Fruit.

Sensing the chaos, Katakuri pondered, "What a chaotic place, and so many strong individuals. If I eat the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form, will it clash with my fruit and cause me to explode?"

"Chiba and Doflamingo made a big deal of this, so maybe this artificial Devil Fruit won't conflict with real ones."

"If I gain the Golden Crow Mera-Mera Fruit's power, combined with my Mochi-Mochi Fruit, I could strengthen myself further, maybe even surpass Mom."

Katakuri strode confidently towards the center.

Meanwhile, a man wearing a golden crown arrived, surrounded by guards.

He had short blond hair, well-developed muscles, a red and blue cloak, and golden boxing gloves, swinging his fists as he walked. Known as King Punch, he was King Elizabello II of the Prodence Kingdom.

Elizabello II possessed innate strength, rumored to penetrate enemy fortresses with a single punch, capable of killing even a Yonko. However, these were legends, as he never fought a Yonko, and it's uncertain if he could land a hit.

Only someone like Kaido might stand still long enough for a punch, and even then, Kaido is known for his durability.

Elizabello's punch had a drawback: he needed an hour of warm-up before using it effectively.

For real battles, an hour of preparation isn't feasible.

Thus, Elizabello developed a light version of his punch, requiring less than an hour of warm-up, still packing considerable power.

Chiba's reputation and Doflamingo's promotion attracted many powerful contenders.

Chiba, with Hina, Peacock, and others, left the palace to explore Dressrosa.

Admiring the puppets, Hina remarked, "These puppets are amazing. I wonder how Doflamingo made them."

"With puppets doing the work, people here must be happy."

Hina's words were met with a discordant voice, "Happy? What a joke."

She turned to see a one-legged puppet soldier, staring coldly at her and then at Chiba.

"I never thought the legendary Marine would stoop to associating with a villain like Doflamingo," the puppet soldier said.

Chiba examined the puppet soldier and smiled, "You seem different, the first to speak against him."

"But you're wrong. Doflamingo and I are merely using each other. Don't try to provoke me into helping you."

"If you want something, offer something of equal value."

"Don't say I should protect you because I was a Marine. Happiness, life, and fairness must be earned."

"If you offer something enticing, I might help."

The puppet soldier eyed Chiba, "Don't you want to know why these dolls have consciousness and act like people? I can tell you."

"Heh, seems you overheard my conversation with Doflamingo. But I'm not interested in the dolls' secret."

"I'm interested in the SMILE factory's Devil Fruit information and someone named Sugar. If you get that information and locate Sugar, I'll consider helping."

The soldier doll stared, "You know a lot."

Chiba laughed, "More than you think. I know Rebecca."

The soldier doll's face changed, "How do you know that name?"

Chiba smiled, "There's a Haki that lets you hear thoughts. You were thinking of that name."

"Rebecca sounds like a girl's name. Is she who you want to protect?"

The puppet soldier nodded, "I can steal Devil Fruit info and Sugar for you. In return, protect Rebecca until I leave."

"Deal," Chiba agreed. He didn't want to fall out with Doflamingo yet but wanted the information soon. Cyrus had come just in time.

Indeed, Chiba knew the puppet soldier was Cyrus.

Cyrus, a hero of the arena, won a hundred duels in four months, reaching a thousand consecutive victories in four years.

In his 3,000th duel, King Riku personally fought and lost to Cyrus.

King Riku made him captain of the royal army. When Princess Scarlet was kidnapped by pirates, Cyrus rescued her single-handedly. Scarlet fell in love with him, relinquishing her princess status to marry him, and they had Rebecca.

Ten years ago, Doflamingo arrived. Cyrus sacrificed a leg to save King Riku. When he tried to kill Doflamingo, Sugar turned him into a puppet, continuing his quest to defeat Doflamingo and free Dressrosa.

"Promise me you won't break your word, or I'll never forgive you," Cyrus said, hopping away on one leg.

Hina watched him leave, then asked Chiba, "What's with that doll?"

Chiba replied, "You'll find out. I can't tell you now; your acting is too poor. You might give us away."

Half a month later, the day of the duel arrived. Powerful contenders from around the world gathered, filling the arena, eager to see who would claim the Mera-Mera Fruit Golden Crow form.

In the arena lounge, contestants from across the globe prepared for battle.
