Capítulo 4: Nostalgia
I craved for the steak like I was drooling over a hot girl (hehe!) Ehem!, Dalia won't be joining us? I asked, when Dalia suddenly walked in front of me wearing a sexy color purple silk dress with no sleeves, her hair curled and had a little bit of make-up that complimented her suit and persona. And here I am, still wondering earlier what I should be wearing, but decided to have it simple, a red dress with a slit on the side, my hair down with my shades dangling.
Hi!, wow you look amazing!, Dalia said and kissed my cheek, which I felt her tongue sliding near my lip, which I smiled at saying, thank you and look at you, still looking hot as always, huh! We laughed at each other and my parents greeted Dalia and ate. We laughed and chatted for hours about the past and when I was little and when my friends and I were still children. Of course Dalia and I couldn't spill out our experiences when we were in our teens for it'll ruin everything that I have worked hard for for many years, making them proud and all.
I kissed mom and Dada goodbye on their trip that they'll be out for three weeks. Mom is really emotional and didn't want to leave me alone at the ranch but Dalia assured her that she'll be taking good care of me while they're away. It made my mom calm down but she really wanted to be with me since I just came home from college. But I explained to her that I'll be staying for two months to work on my research here, so we will still have lots of time to catch up and that assurance made her smile up to the ear. And their plane left at exactly nine in the evening.
While walking out of the airport, still wearing the dress that made me uncomfortable in a while since I am used to my work jumpsuits in the laboratory, I thought and turned around to comment on Dalia's words to my mom. Take good care of me, huh, why do I feel a little scared of that phrase?!
Aha, yeah, so, now you're scared of me? Dalia added moving closer towards me and looking straight to my eyes. Ah!, nope, I didn't say that, and stop looking at me like that..that…I said looking away from Dalia's hot steady gaze. As if what? You're falling in love with me again? As if you didn't loved that when we were teenagers, Dalia said in a whisper. Ah did you say something? I asked a bit smiling though I totally heard what she said as clear as water. I'll drive you home, I live near the ranch anyway!, Dalia added motioning for me to hop in the mini cooper. Okay, as you wish my dearie, thanks!, I replied smiling back at her which she lightly pouted and rolled her eyes away from me. And we both laughed together while Dalia started the car engine.
It's been so refreshing driving like this at night. I remember when I was a kid and Dada would have me ride at his back on one of our horses to go to the forest and open fields and ride. Just to ride in the open freely, openly and happily. I loved the breeze and the wind caressing my hair and face. I feel like a bird flying though on a horse, I was so little then that I felt flying on top of it.
Hey, want to come up my house. I'll make you a cup of chocolate and I think I still have chocolate chip cookies lirking somewhere, Dalia said smiling while she turned off the car engine and looked at me to invite me to her lodging. Okay!, as long as there's chocolate chip cookies, I'm in, hihi!
Wow! Was this the cottage we had the sleep over? OMG! It still looks the same, though you took away the telescope I loved, hmp!, I said happily but got disappointed not seeing my telescope at the attic. Well!, it got broke when it fell accidentally last time when we had a renovation. But I bought a new one, don't worry it'll be brought here next week. So, how's college and work? Dalia asked sitting next to me on the swivel chair near the kitchen counter, holding her cup of choco.. Well!, it's good and I am learning so much with my professor.
He had been my mentor for years now and I am almost done with my work, "The Digital Mind", the school has chosen it for a science expedition which as they say, a breakthrough in scientific history, hmm!, I answered confidently but humbly. Oh, wow, that's swell, then you'll be featured on magazines or television, maybe become the next you tube sensation, the genius behind digital something something!!!, haha!, Dalia replied laughing but very proud of Marnie. Yeah, maybe, but I just wanted to finish my work and try it out for real. So I decided to do the experiments here.
Okay, then, if you need help, I'm always here for you!, Dalia said assuring me and tapping my hand which she suddenly touched, and held then pulled closely up to her lips and kissed it. I got surprised so I pulled my hand away from her lips and stood up. I got to go now, see you tomorrow!, I quickly said then kissed her on the cheek and walked out hurriedly. I don't hate how Dalia makes me feel but I want to make sure she really is into me and I am not just some kind of a summer fling or a rebound since she separated from Thompson. I wanted to ask her about him, or what happened between them, but I thought it wasn't appropriate since Dalia was so focused on me. I liked how she looks at me and gives all her attention to me, as if I am the only person in the room or in the world she's talking to. I hope I am the only girl for her in the world too.
