Capítulo 120: You're Ugly When You Cry

Forty-eight hours. Death.

Those words echoed endlessly in Song Cheng's mind. 

He stood frozen in place, his limbs ice-cold, as if his body had forgotten how to move. After what felt like an eternity, he regained control over himself.

With mechanical movements, Song Cheng pulled out his phone and dialed Xie Zi's number. 

She answered immediately, her voice anxious. "How is she? Is Ah Yu alright? Is the illness serious?"

A lump formed in Song Cheng's throat, choking him. He couldn't utter a single word. 

His silence became an unspoken warning of bad news.

On the other end, Xie Zi swallowed hard and collapsed onto her bed, her whole body going weak. In a trembling voice, she asked, "It's really bad, isn't it?"

Song Cheng opened his mouth, knowing full well that his voice would betray his emotions. But as soon as he tried to speak, the sobs he had been holding back burst forth, even startling himself.
