He took me back to the pack’s main house and went straight to our bedroom.

Once he closed the door behind us, I turned to look at him and opened my mouth first.

“We should try to coexist peacefully even if we are only contracted husband and wife,” I suggested. “Try to get along well during the one year we’ll be together, you know. And also respect each other.”

Max seemed to be surprised by my words.

“What made you change your mind?” he asked. “Last night, you didn't seem to want us to get along well.”

“Well…” I had to reluctantly confess, “From the way your pack members behave around you and how your Beta described you, I don't think you are a bad guy, at least not as bad as the rumor said.”

He suddenly smirked.

“From my Beta?” he asked and approached me, and I instinctively stepped back until my legs hit the bed, and I was forced to sit on it.

I felt nervous seeing him like this.
