••• Charlotte’s POV •••
“Lottie!” Ethan’s loud voice sounded through the airport’s arrival gate.
“Here!” He waved his hand to tell us where he was.
Both Hayden and I went toward him, and I was gawking as I took in his appearance.
“What on earth happened to you?” I asked in surprise.
He looked… messy and disheveled. Long and unkempt hair, beard, and mustache.
“You fought your battle, and I’ve been fighting mine, too,” he chuckled.
Speaking of battle…
“Ethan… Dad…”
I felt a lump in my throat whenever I remembered the scene that happened at DeathValley.
Ethan pulled me into his arms.
“I’ve heard about Dad,” his words were slightly choked. “I’m sorry I haven't gone back to see him yet. I was stuck running around the world to find a way to break our curse.”
I wriggled out of his hold and looked at him in shock.
“You know about the curse?”
“Dad told me,” he said grimly. “And I’d been trying to find the witch responsible for it.”
