“Why the gloomy face?” Ethan asked as I reached the Moon Crest Pack after my shopping spree with Olivia.

“Ethan...” I hesitated to tell him, but he was my brother. I always shared everything with him. “I... I met my second-chance mate.”

He looked surprised hearing my words. “Isn't that a good thing?”

“He hasn't shown up to meet me, and I can't find any information about him.” My heart fell again at the thought that my second-chance mate might not want me.

“Come here.” Ethan opened up his arms, and I gladly stepped forward, feeling instantly comforted by our familial bond.

“Lottie...” He started to stroke my back. “Maybe he’s busy at the moment and doesn't have the time to search for you yet. You know mates can't stay away from each other.”

His words were similar to Livie’s, and I knew they were telling me the truth. I had experienced it with Hayden. Even though he never cared for me, he always returned to our room and held me close when he was sleeping.
