"My… My biological mother? You are lying, right?"

Elise tripped backwards as she fell on her knees. Her entire world was flipped upside down. She could no longer believe the air she was breathing either.

"Mom… Niena, never told me. You are lying."

"There is no reason for me to lie to my daughter, Elise. Why do you think your face matches? Why do you think you feel so familiar with the necklace that belongs to Adella?"

Elise's world felt like it was crumbling around her. The revelation struck her like a lightning bolt, leaving her gasping for breath. Her mind raced, trying to grasp the meaning of Rayn's words, but nothing made sense.

Biological mother? Adella? The woman I just said I hated? How was that even possible?

She stared at Rayn, her eyes wide with disbelief. He looked back at her, his expression somber, but there was a glint of something else… maybe regret… in his eyes.
