Capítulo 18: Chapter 18: You Go Kill Danzo
"Uchiha Madara? He's not dead!?" Fugaku wasn't the only one shocked; even Itachi was taken aback.
After all, the name Uchiha Madara was legendary, known by all.
Madara Uchiha, a revered figure of the Uchiha clan, had joined forces with Hashirama Senju to end the Warring States Period.
Obito spoke slowly, "He's not dead. He's been living in an underground palace beneath Kannabi Bridge. After his battle with Hashirama in the Valley of the End, Madara survived. He obtained Hashirama's cells and gained the Rinnegan."
As Obito revealed Madara's true plan, the group listened intently. The ultimate goal was to use the Rinne Rebirth Jutsu to revive Madara, then activate the Infinite Tsukuyomi. In that illusory world, Obito planned to resurrect Rin and become Hokage.
Itachi couldn't help but question, "Then why not just use the Rinne Rebirth Jutsu to revive Rin directly? You must have some of her tissues."
Obito froze at Itachi's words. Yes, why hadn't he thought of that? But deep down, he knew the reason. Even if Rin were resurrected, would she accept him? Rin had always liked Kakashi, a genius, while he… was not.
Seeing through Obito's hesitation, Sasuke spoke up, "Obito, are you afraid that if you resurrect Rin, she won't love you?"
Obito quickly denied it, though his voice lacked conviction. "No…"
Sasuke continued, "Don't be stubborn. I'll take you to meet a brilliant scientist in the ninja world. He can restore your face. Once that's done, if you bring Rin back, I'll help you win her over."
Obito hesitated, unsure of what to say.
Sasuke pressed on, "Obito, what's better? Living in a fantasy, or holding the real, soft, and warm Rin in your arms?"
Sasuke's words left Obito speechless. Finally, he relented, "Alright, I'll listen to you, as long as you can make Rin love me."
Sasuke smiled, then his expression darkened. "Obito, your identity is delicate. You were the one who initiated the Nine-Tails attack on Konoha, and at that time, you claimed to be Uchiha Madara."
Sasuke retrieved a three-tomoe Sharingan, preserved in a nutrient solution, from the Uchiha clan's storage. He handed it to Obito. "When you're unmasked, you'll move as Uchiha Obito.
But when you wear the mask and reveal only one eye, you'll be the mastermind behind the Akatsuki—Uchiha Madara!"
Obito looked at Sasuke deeply. If he remembered correctly, he had never mentioned being the leader of the Akatsuki; he had only said that a boy inherited Madara's Rinnegan. Pein, using the Rinnegan, had rarely appeared in public.
But Obito didn't concern himself with those details. He placed the Sharingan in his empty eye socket, and his eyes glowed red with power.
Sasuke commanded, "Obito, go kill Danzo! Only by eliminating him can we, the Uchiha, reclaim our power!"
No one outside of their circle knew of Obito's existence. He donned his mask, transforming once more into the mysterious masked man. With a flash of red in his eye, he disappeared into the shadows.
Sasuke turned to Itachi, Fugaku, and Izumi. "Father, brother, Izumi, let's go and eliminate Danzo's spies first."
Outside the Uchiha compound, members of Root were monitoring the clan's movements from a distance.
"Strange… why aren't there any screams?" one of them muttered.
"Itachi is skilled in illusions. Maybe he's killing them with Genjutsu," another suggested.
"Hmph, Itachi wouldn't dare betray Danzo or the Third Hokage," one Root member scoffed. "Danzo tested him before. Itachi chose the village over the Uchiha."
Suddenly, a blade flashed in the darkness, and one Root member's head flew off his shoulders. Itachi stepped out of the shadows, having killed three Root members in an instant.
Fugaku, Itachi, Sasuke, and Izumi moved swiftly and efficiently, dispatching the remaining Root operatives. Fugaku took down four, Itachi six, Sasuke three, and Izumi one.
In total, fourteen Root members—Danzo's eyes and ears—were eliminated. Now, nothing that happened within the Uchiha compound would reach Danzo's ears immediately.
Back at Konoha's Root headquarters, Danzo was confident that after tonight, there would be no more Uchiha in Konoha.
The Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, turned a blind eye to Danzo's extreme measures, believing that Danzo's methods, though harsh, were more reliable than those of the unstable Uchiha clan.
Suddenly, Danzo sensed a distortion in space behind him. He turned, expecting a report, but instead, saw a masked man. "Mission acc—" Danzo began, but before he could finish, his head was severed cleanly from his body, flying high into the air.
