Capítulo 15: Departure (2)
The four girls then one by one then exited through the door, starting from Blake who took a glance at him briefly, seemingly checking his condition before going out. Weiss followed, eyebrows raised at Beatrice who called her by that nickname. Yang was third, giving off a grin towards the drill haired loli, giving the said loli some goosebumps. Lastly, Ruby exited the dorm and waved at the two, but did not go away fully as she took a peek from the right corner of the door, looking at Subaru with a small blush before being dragged away by Yang, closing the door in the process.
The two were now alone once more, and Subaru looked at Beatrice before speaking, "Why did you call her that?"
"Well it was only an immediate nickname that Betty does not think of clearly" Beatrice replied.
"I know you're lying, explain"
"She reminded Betty of Emilia, I suppose! That's the only reason Betty has, in fact!"
"We really need to work on your judgement of people, Beako. Emilia is totally the opposite of her. For now, let's just get ready and talk about it later"
Beatrice only sighed nodding to his command as she stood up and head to the bathroom, "If Betty's Subaru says so, I suppose"

They arrive at the gates of Beacon's airship docks. The sounds of engines firing and people chattering heard across the area, passing by as they were doing their daily activities. Subaru knew that Beacon was a quite isolated place, sitting on an island far from the mainland capital of the kingdom of Vale. But he does not know that the distance is that short to begin with. The buildings can be seen in the distance with clear detail and almost with no pollution thanks to dust. From what he concluded, it's only a 15 minute flight from his position to Vale.
The craft they are boarding is what these people call "Bullheads". From his perspective, the craft itself is a mix of a flying brick with a sorry excuse of wings that are so fragile he could probably break it with invisible providence. It looks much more fragile than the VTOL aircrafts of Subaru's world.
Beatrice, who was on his back due to laziness and attachment, was stunned at the sight of the craft Subaru quietly insulting. Slack jawed and in awe at the sheer scale of the craft that were ferrying the students in and out of the academy. Weiss proudly smiled and hummed beside him as the spirit was gazing at them leaving.
"Atlesian technology! How advanced, am I right?" Weiss asked.
"To launch a flying brick that has fragile wings with ease? Yeah they are advanced alright" Subaru commented while covering Beatrice's slacked jawed mouth before a fly flew in.
Weiss was a bit offended, but it got a chuckle out of Ruby who was behind him and is now taking the stairs walking down. Subaru followed suit, with Weiss mumbling behind him. Yang and Blake were already at the Bullhead waiting for them as he saw it.
Subaru looked towards the little rose walking beside him, and thought about the main thing she talked about earlier, his whip. After seeing what Remnant has to offer in terms of technology, he can easily conclude that his whip is obviously primitive, so he can guess as to why Ruby wanted to change it. But, he can't easily pinpoint on what upgrades she would actually apply to it. So, he will ask her instead.
"So....Ruby, what's wrong with my whip again?"
She took notice of his question, "Hm? Oh! Nothing, it's just a bit too basic, I would say. No offense to your weapon, I swear! Whips are cool and for what they are, pretty versatile too! But I would like to make a few adjustments to it, Remnant-fy it if you will! I can do that, right?"
Subaru, eyes widened at her reply, responded, "Well if you do want to do it, sure! Also, why are you apologizing for offending a weapon?"
"They're better than people, that's all! Hard to explain, really."
"I see...now can I ask you something else?"
"What is it?"
"What's wrong with this new whip again?"
She hummed, thinking of an answer, "Oh! Easy, material issues! Dust can't really easily be conducted to something like leather, synthetic leather even! But after searching online most if not all bullwhips are made of those kinds of materials, it's what makes them special like all weapons! So I'm-"
"Woah woah, slow down, english please!"
"Sorry! So what I'm saying is that-"
Then, a bell-like voice was heard, followed by the sounds of footsteps indicating a group was arriving beside them. "Hey Ruby! Hi Subaru and the little girl on his back!"
The three looked towards the source of the voice. Red hair and spartan like outfit, behind her is a blonde boy that Subaru recognized as Jaune, Subaru is internally grinning at what is about to come. Behind them, are two other people he came to recognize as part of Jaune's team, but he does not know their names.
"Pyrrha! What are you doing here?" He asked.
"We've just arrived from a bullhead behind us after a shopping spree for ingredients. Ren ran out of flour and eggs to cook his pancakes"
"Ren? The green guy?" Subaru looked behind her, he could see the man who was being annoyed by the ginger haired girl beside him, carrying a bag of groceries with a really calm face. "Yeah I can see that" he commented
"Betty can see that too, I suppose. But this red haired girl has no manners, in fact! Betty has a name and her name is Beatrice! Use it next time!" The loli spirit interjected while still on Subaru's back.
"Oh! Sorry! Nice to meet you Beatrice, and you may already know me by now"
"Betty knows, I suppose. She is not deaf"
Subaru wearily chuckled at two, before looking towards the blonde boy standing behind Pyrrha. Jaune took notice, and the two gazed at each other.
"Hey Jaune, mind if I ask you something?"
"What is it?" The boy replied
"How was the experience of wearing a dress for you?"
"Uhh....I would say it is interesting? A bit airy and cold beneath the skirt, that's for sure. Why do you ask?" Jaune responded, a hint of confusion and curiosity in his tone.
"Betty's Subaru is trying to tease you on how much better he is at crossdressing, I suppose. Please ignore him, Betty is not even sure why he considers crossdressing to be a good field to be proud of, in fact."
"Beako please don't interject! Also it is a good field to be proud of! I'm the only one here that actually looks good as a woman! You hear me!"
"Subaru..." Ruby interjected, "you crossdressed as a woman!?"
"Yes! I did and I'm proud of it! Three times!"
"I'm not sure what I have to do with this info leak..." Jaune added.
"Shut up! You're just utterly disgraceful to the art of female fashion! You didn't even shave your hairy legs!" Subaru shouted.
"Can we please not talk about this and move on? Sorry to interrupt but I think your bullhead is leaving" Pyrrha pointed at the direction of an engine sounding off. Yang can be seen waving with Weiss' shouting being muffled by the loud noise of the airship lifting off. Ruby was even already inside the craft after briefly talking to Pyrrha.
Subaru looked towards the craft, "Shit, Beako!" he ordered in a panicked tone.
"Murak, I suppose!"
With the removal of his weight, Subaru jumped into the leaving Bullhead, not even bothering to say goodbye even though the two waved at him taking his leave. He clinged onto the edge and quickly climbed aboard the vehicle, before sitting down on one of the seats, placing Beatrice on his lap, and breathing out a sigh of relief.
He looked towards the four girls inside, Ruby happily humming, Blake reading a book and Yang already sitting idly swinging her head to Ruby's rhythm. Weiss is gazing at him cheerfully though, bringing a sense of confusion from him.
"So, Subaru! mind talking about your crossdressing career? I need your makeup tips!"
Subaru sighed, "If it's to spend these 15 minutes of boredom, sure"
