"What the hell did you do, system?!!"
[Active Quest: Defeat the layer boss to gain freedom out of the Abyss]
[Rewards: Unknown]
[Penalty: Host luck and talent would drop down to an extremely low level. Host will forever be trapped in the abyss]
Tsk.
"Stop screwing around and answer me!"
[I didn't do anything. You've wasted a lot of time, leading to an update to make you focus more on completing the quest]
Tsk.
"Aren't I trying enough? Do you think it's easy wandering about in an unknown area? Where dangers are lurking in the shadows."
[Sigh. I don't have a hand in the quest update. You should know the way the system operates is beyond me. I'm just here to guide you and follow the will of the system]
"Huh? Aren't you the system?" Kael asked in confusion.
[Negative. I'm merely a tool used by the system in helping you along your quest]
"Then who's in control of the system? It can't be him. He's already dead. So who can it be? Well I'll leave that for later it seems I've got some company. I might as well channel my anger on you guys." Cracking his fist, he eyed the beasts, which slowly circled him, their killing intents oozing wildly.
"Come and get it, dummies." He exploded forward straight towards one of the beasts, marking the beginning of his battle.
A few minutes later, a figure stood tall in the centre of the bits of flesh, and blood littered across the area. He wasn't unscathed as a large deep gash was just below his cheek, missing his eyes by a few margins. The wound slowly closed up as the figure breathed softly, gazing at the aftermath of his battle.
[You've defeated eight abyssal beasts: +3200 exp]
[Level up!]
"Ahhh," he moaned softly, feeling a warm energy flow around his body. He had increased his rank once more, breaking through to the E rank.

His stats had also increased by one all now at the D rank. "This is truly an opportunity to increase my strength. Don't know what to expect from the outside world." Thinking about it, the lives of the souls he had connected with flashed in his mind.
"To avoid ending up like them, I need to grow strong!" He thought, clenching his fist tightly. "Hey, system, I hope you better grant me an amazing reward for all this trouble."
...
The rest days were spent travelling deeper into the first layer, all in search of the so-called layer boss. He was already feeling the pressure from the abyss trying to evade his senses. He needed to find a way out of here before things become complicated.
Finally, Kael could feel himself getting closer to the layer boss. Since the previous day, he felt a slight chill that hadn't left, leaving him to be quite on the edge. He could feel the layer boss was the cause of this feeling. "Just how strong are you to cause this effect without even seeing you?" He pondered to himself.
RUMBLE~
That was the least of his problems now. The rumble of the ground, he had felt this before. The time before he got the system. The beast he had run away from at that time too frightened to fight.
"So you are truly a powerful beast, I was right to have fled last time. I wonder why you were out there? Well, that doesn't matter, I guess we have a fight to settle. Let's see who's the strongest between us! Maybe this will serve as a nice warm-up against that layer boss."
The beast before him was large, over four metres with dark scales, which seems to suck in the little light around the area. Its body structure was like that of an elephant with two large horns at the side of its mouth. Its red eyes were fixed on Kael, who had risen from the ground.
"I hope you don't disappoint."
BOOOM!
The ground shook as both figures clashed, disrupting the peaceful region. Kael was sent five steps backwards from the clash with blood dripping to the ground. "Good, you're strong," he muttered wiping his mouth with eyes filled with excitement. Running forward, the ground exploded with dark energy balls floating above the beast.
Each struck with precision, but Kael wasn't that weak guy from before. With the upgrade in his rank, he noticed the amount of time he could use the Blink skill had increased.
Appearing above the beast, he pulled his hand towards himself, causing the rotating energy balls to fly towards him.
KABOOOOM!
The air was lit up by the large amount of energy which travelled over the area. The beast stared up with a smug expression as if mocking Kael from his earlier action. Its eyes soon widened as it felt a high sense of danger. From the sides, Kael had appeared punching forward with his might.
Seconds ago, just before the ball of energy had slammed into him, he had disappeared from the spot appearing beside the beast. A plan which he had used in deceiving the beast and was successful.
ROOOOAR
The beast roared in pain as Kael fist caused a crack on its crystalline scale. Swiftly reacting to the attack, the beast swung its horn, but its attack struck the empty air. From above, with his hands clenched together, Kael slammed it on the top of the beast head, causing it to stagger.
ROOOAR! BOOOM!
The tail of the beast struck forward, slamming Kael to the ground. "Ughhh," quickly rolling, he evaded the stomping beast and rose to his feet just in time to block the giant tail swinging towards him once again.
Gritting his teeth, he swung his palm out, causing a ripple in the air. "Gravity Repulsion!" The beast tail blasted backwards, unable to touch his palms. Once again, his form disappeared from the beast view landing on top of its body.
Clenching both fists together and adding the gravity aura, he slammed them continuously on the beast's head.
ROOOAAR!
The beast roared in pain, trying its best to throw kael off his back. Clenching his fist once more, he delivered another punch, causing the beast to stagger. The beast's strength was waning as it slowly collapsed on its front knees.
"It's time for you to die!" He yelled, raising his clenched fist in the air. "Huh?" His form disappeared from the beast back appearing metres away. He slowly watched with wide eyes as the beast was blown to smithereens by a large red rocky fist.
ROOOOAAAAR!
"What the hell was that?" He muttered, feeling his legs shaking slightly just from the energy it was emitting. "Shit!" "Shit!!" He cursed with a pale expression staring at the once mighty beast, which was reduced to a paste of blood.
Ding!
