Vladimir:

"I won't be late, I promise." Audrey said, looking at me through the mirror as she got ready. "I will be sure to call you as you told me, or at least send you a v-voice…"

"Voice note." I said, and she nodded.

"I'll send you one and let you know that I am okay and that I am safe. I will also stay out of trouble and not get into any arguments. I know that it is going to be almost impossible to actually guarantee that, but I will do my best." She said, and I chuckled before getting up from the edge of the bed.

I walked toward her and wrapped my arms around her waist, resting my chin on her shoulder, knowing that this might be the last time she was getting ready for work. The idea of her believing that this was something that I was going to allow to be a constant was one that showed me all that I needed to know. She was easily fooled, and that only made her a lot more vulnerable.
