"If Valerie hadn't killed your father, would her father have married your mother just to silence her and protect Valerie from facing justice?" Kimberly's words tumbled out in a passionate torrent. "I saw the way you lived in Valerie's shadow, deliberately holding yourself back, afraid to outshine her, afraid to draw attention. I witnessed it all, Zoey! The Wright family wronged you in every way possible. You shouldn't carry this guilt, this blame. It's not yours to bear!"

Zoey's smile twisted into a bitter curve, but deep down, she was triumphant. She had Kimberly right where she wanted her.
