My initial attack had not gotten the response that I was expecting. The lion's strikes were predictable but because of its speed, it was difficult to evade them easily. Due to its sheer strength, I had to be careful as taking one blow would certainly be my demise. Its black aura was suffocating and I struggled to even maintain my consciousness. This was no run-of-the-mill lion!
I dodged one of its paw strike, but this time, the animal expected it and immediately tried to bite me with its sharp teeth. My expression drastically changed as I was not expecting it to be this smart. Its teeth suck into my abdomen as an acute pain spread through my torso. My face crunched in agony.
I yelled in pain, but this was probably my best chance, its weak spot was right next to me. I could not let it go to waste. With a determined face, I pressed my thumb into its eye and pushed as hard as I could into the eyeball. The lion growled in agony as I applied more pressure. The eye had turned into a mushy substance and blood splattered onto my hand and dripped down the animal's mane.
"If I had both arms, I could have blinded him at once. How unlucky am I!" I thought to myself.
The lion's bite force decreased drastically and I was able to free myself from its jaws. The beast was growling out of anger and glared at me with its face half covered in blood.
"Now what? Do I have to get bit again?" I humorously thought to myself.
This was no time to relax as this was still a dangerous creature. The lion bolted towards me while roaring furiously. There was only one thing that I could do. I had to use the advantage that I created. It once again tried to bite me, but this time, I ducked to the right and dashed to its flank. I was using its blind spot. My strikes were practically useless as I did not have enough power to inflict any considerable damage, so I had to get resourceful. I opened my mouth and sunk my teeth into its neck. I wrapped my arm and legs around its body.
The mane was in my way, but I had no time to complain. The lion tried to shake me off, but I was stuck on it like a bug. I bit as hard as I could and removed a chunk of meat. Blood was gushing out of the wound and sprayed onto my face, but the beast had not yet given up. I spat out the flesh and bit it again and again until I could feel its strength decrease. The lion fell to the ground and exhaled its last breath. The disgusting smell of iron permeated the air around us.
I had defeated a lion! My teeth and face were dyed red with chunks of flesh still stuck in my mouth. I laid next to its corpse and was gasping for air. This took every ounce of energy and luck that I had. The metallic taste still lingered in my mouth. It took roughly thirty minutes to regain my strength. I stood up and looked at the lifeless lion. It was already night time and the moon shone through the leaves.
"It would be such a waste to leaves this here," I thought to myself.
"I guess I'll carry it back with me. The orcs will surely know what to do with it," I said out loud.
I walked up to the beast then realized something. I only had one arm. How was I supposed to carry it? After quick thinking, the best option was to simply drag it through the forest. I firmly grasped on of its hind legs and pulled its body. Every muscle fiber was twitching as I exerted myself. The process was slow and tedious, but I was making progress. I was leaving behind a trail of blood and dust.
I was close to the tribe when I once again heard twigs cracking in front of me. The branches were shaking vigorously.
"Not again! I don't have any more strength to fight," I thought to myself.
"Do I just run?" I asked myself.
I released my hold on the lion and dropped into my stance. However, to my great contentment, what emerged from the vegetation was not another lion, but the three orcs! I heaved a sigh of relief. The three of them wore worried expressions.
"LUKE ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" Quincy yelled.
As they got closer, they could see the amount of blood on my face and body.
"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?" Grald shouted as they ran towards me.
As they approached, they saw the lion corpse that I was dragging. Its neck had been mangled and flesh was sticking out.
"Did you kill this?" Jasper asked in a low tone.
"Yes, I did," I said while smiling.
The three orcs practically jumped on me and hugged me with all of their might. I did not know that beasts who were demonized in the human kingdom could be such affectionate creatures.
"You don't know how worried we were when you didn't return home."
"Guys you're suffocating me," I said.
They released their hold on me and took a step back.
"How did you kill it?" Grald asked.
I explained the fight without skipping any detail. Their faces kept lighting up as I went over the battle. It was as though they were proud of their little brother for doing well in school!
"Wow, you managed to do all of that! That was quite ingenious of you," Grald said.
"That must not be because of Grald's training. He is a terrible instructor," Quincy jokingly said.
"I thought that these animals were not supposed to roam around the tribe," I asked.
"They aren't," Jasper replied.
"You mentioned the jet black eyes and dark aura. I may have an idea of what this is, but I need to speak to my father and brother to confirm my theory," Grald said with a serious face.
