*CRASH! CRUMBLE! THOOOOM!!!*
"….. Ugh….." I groaned out in pain as I pulled myself up slowly.
"Hissss!…. Oh that's really bad…." I muttered as I felt a sharp searing pain in my left shin as I looked down at it.
"I know this pain, same thing that happened in my old biking accident, yep, that's definitely a fracture." I said through gritted teeth as the pain was intense but the situation I was in made me know crying out in pain and asking for help is useless.
I felt around until I found my round rimmed glasses, "Damn, well this will have to do for now." I say as I put my now cracked glasses on my face as I looked around.
To give a brief summary of the situation I am in, I'm currently trapped in a cave due to a cave-in by accident, you see I'm an archaeologist and I go around the world with me and my team to search up lost bits of history from dinosaur bones to ancient ruins buried under the sands of time itself, you could say Indiana Jones got me interested in History when I was a kid after all.
I grew up in the states but my Grandparents were Chinese Immigrants who came to the USA in the mid 60's and soon after my dad was born, he found my mom in their high school years and later down the road they ended up having me, Gongsun Xuanyang, but you can just call me Xuan or how some of my friends called me back in high school 'Juanhulio' but let's just stick with Xuan.
As to the situation I found myself in, basically we were doing a regular archeological dig, you know typical stuff, unfortunately while me and my crew were digging one of us must have hit a top to a Cavern or something resulting in a cave in and my current situation.
I don't know about the others, some might be lucky and are unharmed, others maybe are injured like I am, or possibly even worse.
"Cmon Xuan, you've survived being in a major car accident, a fractured leg won't keep you down." I gave myself a small pep talk as I grabbed onto the side of the wall.
There was a tiny hole above my head that was shining some light in so I knew I wasn't to suffocate, but at the same time I should check the rest of the cave, don't want to come across the nasty surprise of a snake or a scorpion attacking me.
'Maybe this is the path to the Tomb of the Yellow Emperor.' I thought to myself as I pulled myself up against the rock wall and used it as a crutch to hold myself up as I limped farther in.
The Yellow Emperor, the mythical to possibly historical figure who founded the first real dynasty of China between 2600 and 2500BC, it has been in debate if he ever really existed, but most in china believed he did exist, even if worship for him in particular has declined over the years he still has a few shrines that are dedicated to him in China, though they don't get as much foot traffic as they used to that is.
But if this dig proved successful and we were able to tell that he really did exist then safe to say it would be one of the major cultural achievements of the twenty first century.
'Though I'm just thinking about all this to ignore the pain in my leg.' I think to myself as I winced from putting any pressure on my leg at all as I kept hobbling my way down the cave.
After about ten minutes of walking the rock wall that made up the cave began to change to actual cut blocks of stone, not in the way they are now made as straight bricks but stone that were already certain shapes that were either already perfect fits for the wall they were making or were cut just enough to fit where they were needed.
"I see, so that info was right, this really is a tomb, though it's unknown if this is Huangdi's Tomb." I say to myself as I keep pulling myself along before reaching a crudely made archway, but it still held after more than 3500 years since it was made.
*Cough Cough* "Well…. This place is still dusty, and I don't see any holes, so far so good, no need to worry about any snakes, don't know about Scorpions though…." I say looking around this chamber I was in, though it was pretty dark by this point.
*Woosh Woosh Woosh*
Suddenly the many braziers that surrounded the edge of the chamber lit up as the fire burned brightly making me widen my eyes in surprise.
"Okay…. Yeah no that's not normal…." I said sweating since there's no way this just happens, I mean sure it happens in movies but this is real life here! This isn't supposed to happen.
I looked around and their were many pieces of clay pottery, wooden sculptures and the like with a few small chests, all surrounding what appeared to be an elevated coffin with text in ancient Mandarin as I hobbled over to look at it.
"'Here lies his Magesty Huangdi, the Emperor who united Huaxia(China) under his rule, bringing our people out of the era of tribes run by the tyrannical Flame Emperors of old, through him Huaxia was born and to him we give our thanks for all he has done.'" I said reading over the text as I sat down and chuckled.
"Ha, I guess you really did exist, you were no mere folktale at all." I said with a sigh and hung my head low.
"Now I just got to wait to be rescued, maybe I'll take a nap to conserve my energy." No food and water I have to hope they get to me soon enough.
But unfortunately, fate seemed to have other plans.
…
..
.
Sometime later
'I'm not gonna make it huh….' Is all I could think as I lay here dying now on the ground here in the Tomb of the Yellow Emperor.
It has been from what I could tell 5 days since the accident, I thought some people didn't get swallowed up in the collaspe and went to get help, but from what I could tell as of now, everyone got swallowed, and if no help is coming we are all going to die or maybe I'm the only one left.
'As sad as it is I don't have anyone who will cry for my death, mom, dad, grandma and grandpa are all gone now and I never had siblings or cousins, I guess this is the end of the Gongsun family tree, at least this branch that is….' I think to myself as my eyes begin to get blurry as I feel my life begin to flash before my eyes.
'I'm proud of the life I lived, I just wished their was something more I could have become….' Those were my final thoughts of consciousness as my eyes lost their light with my heart slowing to a stop as I took my last breath of this life of mine.
But, this wasn't the end of my story, as it had only just begun.

(Edit) I Can't guarantee constant regular updates on this fic, and yes it's a fic as in the synopsis this will take place in a mixed version of the Three Kingdoms of Ancient China taking both Elements of Total War: Three Kingdoms along with Dynasty Warriors Series as battles will be similar in nature to those kinds of battles to start out with.
Now characters will either look like their counterparts in either Dynasty Warriors or in Total War: Three Kingdoms, though specifically set around the the Make them Unique Mod for that game that actually gives the supporting legendary characters actual looks that make them unique.
As to why not all them look exactly like Dynasty Warriors versions is simple, some of them don't look too great and others look like they put a white guy in ancient China and called him so and so, then boom he's that character, so characters that don't fit from Dynasty warriors in my opinion I will use the ones from Total War instead for their looks.
"…..Hmmm?" I slowly opened my eyes to see a bright blue sky above me before I slowly pulled myself up.
I appeared to be surrounded by clouds, I was even sitting down on a cloud as I grabbed at my head and looked around.
"Is this…. The afterlife?" I mean it looked like the stereotypical afterlife that would be heaven for Christians, but I believed in Shintoism and I don't think the afterlife is meant to look like this but I'm not entirely certain since this was my first time ever dying after all.
*Clack*
I suddenly heard the sound of an Odoshi, one of those water clackers you see in Asian gardens and around Onsens, before the scenery instantly shifted and I was inside an ancient Chinese throne room.
"….." Though what I saw didn't exactly fit the image I had in my head for the place I was in as I saw what I would describe as chip bags and soda cans all across the ground while an old man was playing what looked like Dynasty Warriors on a Large Plasma screen TV.
It had been awhile since I played Dynasty Warriors, I had a penchant for playing games with historical references, even if they were a bit outlandish for some like Dynasty Warriors and Assassin Creed, but I enjoyed the ones that kept closer to form and seemed more realistic like RTS of Total War Games and the Civilization series and a few others with Ghost of Tsushima being up there as well.
But seeing an old man playing video games while acting like a shut in neet who hasn't gone outside in weeks or maybe even months and having things delivered to him on a whim so he wouldn't need to move.
Not really knowing what to do I moved on over to watch him play as he merely moved his eyes to look at me while he was playing before looking back at the screen.
Currently it was the battle of Xapi castle where the forces of both Liu Bei and Cao Cao had surrounded Lu Bu, seeing this made me sigh.
"You know if Lu Bu listened to Chen Gong and took his advice even once throughout his time working with one another its most likely that he would have survived, if he stayed with Liu Bei and offered something of value he could have earned his freedom from vassalage instead of betraying him just like all his former masters." I couldn't help but say as the cutscene began to play of the execution of Lu Bu.
"You say that, but no one really knows the real Lu Bu from history as most that was said about him throughout history was exaggerations and vilified him immensely without his side of how things actually went for him, well at least for human scholars on his personality, in actuality after he declared his independence from CaoCao and went to make a name for himself, his newly formed faction was filled with heavy corruption and to keep them in place and not bankrupt him he needed to constantly put fear into them, with time he would have been able to fix his court and remove the corruption to not constantly need to be at war, but even with that he was a warrior and hated to sit still, unless China was completely unified under his rule, Lu Bu would never stop fighting until his goals were achieved." The old man said as he told me something I never knew about Lu Bu, something that history has long forgotten about China's strongest Warrior.
"But, where are my manners." The old man said before another *Clack* was heard before the room instantly shifted with it being instantly cleaned with everything being put away as the man was seated above me as he fixed his glasses and looked at me.
"I am Huangdi, otherwise known as the Yellow Emperor, and you have just died while within my own tomb, a tomb I never wanted to be found in the first place." He said to me with a serious but stern look in his eyes.
"….. I can't honestly be scared of you after seeing how you were, suddenly shifting to being all serious isn't going to make me suddenly forget the bags of chips, soda and video games." I say to which he sighs and suddenly repositioned himself onto his side.
"Well you got me there, honestly I'm glad I don't have to take up a prime and proper look with a human soul." He says while scratching his stomach, making my eye twitch seeing a god act like this, then again he was human turned god so unlike other gods he probably could feel time passing at a human rate unlike other celestial beings and thus he must be extremely bored if he's acting like a hikimori playing video games in his free time.
"So…. I'm here only because I died inside your tomb?" I said to which he nodded.
"Correct, though besides entering my tomb you didn't disturb my remains, nor tried to take my riches for yourself, then again you might have if you were saved in time, but nonetheless you didn't disturb my rest so you won't be punished for what you did as it's a general rule to harshly punish those that disturb the resting places of the once mortal bodies of gods after all." He says to which I sweat slightly, 'Good thing I didn't feel curious to check things out then' I thought to myself.
"Now that being said I'd just send you off onto be reincarnated along the Six Paths of Reincarnation and be kind enough to allow you down the Human Path, but then again I think we share a kinship you an I, after all you have the same name that I was born with in my human life, Gongsun Xuanyang." He says to me with one eye open as he rubs his chin.
"Well, I mean I did know that I bared the same name you once did, but I don't think my parents ever thought I would meet with the original first barer of my name after all." Since my entire name was his name before he ascended to become Emperor Huangdi and later the Yellow Emperor.
Hearing that he chuckled, "No, they didn't, oh and I can say this since you have also died but your parents and Grandparents have all reincarnated now and are live their own lives, though in separate periods in time of course, and before you ask, yes time means nothing in the face of reincarnation so you can die at any period in time and become a new being in a different place and different time in both history or the future, as to us gods, everything that is happening in human history from ancient times to the far future where Humans have colonized the stars is visible to us gods, but since their are an infinite numbers of the past, present and future, most of us gods don't look to deeply into time unless we need to." He explained to me and in a sense confirming that the Multiverse Theory is a fact which led to more questions but they weren't really that important for me.
"But say do you want to be able to go into this new life with powers that most humans don't tend to get outside of stories?" He asked me as he got a idea, a great idea in fact, one in the way that could make watching my story unfold all the more interesting for this old man.
"Powers? What do you mean, and where exactly are you going to send me off where I need these powers?" I asked as I had a bad feeling about what he was going to say.
"Why right at the beginning of the Three Kingdoms era of course!" He said with a big toothy grin on his face, as I began to sweat even more.
'What did I just get myself into?'
******
I'll try to at least get this into the actual beginning of the story with the next chapter ending the Prelude and the one after being the actual beginning of the story.
This story does have a system, but it's a system that is like a gaming system in a sense from both Total War: Three Kingdoms and Dynasty warriors taking upon there campaign styles and fighting styles and putting them into one.
It's not something overpowered like other systems but he can become, with effort, a one man army like Lu Bu is, same for other famous people as it's based around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms with generals being like actual hero's that can change the tides of battle itself.
Warfare will be dangerous depending upon the enemies he goes up against, peasant militia and rather weak units from the games will be taken out easily but much stronger legendary units along with enemy generals would be a different story altogether.
