Capítulo 25: Chapter 25 – The Burden He Bear
Vale nodded his head and sat down on the bench. He did need a rest as he only had an hour of nap earlier. When he returned from Las Vegas, he continued his novel. As the readers said, authors should never rest before they end their story.
But it was taking longer than he expected.
"Hmmm." He closed his eyes slowly as he rested his head on the wall behind him. "I should..."
He didn't finish his sentence as he fell asleep immediately. A soft breath escaped his lips as he entered dreamland. Kiara looked at him and frowned slightly as she saw his face from a better angle.
"This guy is so stubborn." She muttered softly, "But it's not bad to have someone like that too."
"What happened?" Taylor, finishing his workout set, approached and stood next to Kiara. "Is he sleeping?"
"Yes." She nodded her head, "Let's not bother him. I swear this guy is so stubborn that he took care of everything himself."
"What did he do?" Jenny asked curiously as she wiped off sweat from her forehead with a towel, "Something big?"
"Well, I have some guesses." She mused, taking out her phone and finding news about the incident in Las Vegas and New York. "I hope this didn't create trouble for him."
Both Taylor and Jenny leaned in closer to watch the news with her. They were shocked at what they saw.
"Is it really him?" Taylor commented as he scratched his head, "Isn't it a monster's doing?"
"They are saying that too." Jenny nodded her head, "The news spread quickly in the morning news. Now, people are afraid of monsters that walk on the surface. A crowd gathers in front of the Apocalypse Emergency Department building, demanding for more protection and access to dungeons to protect themselves."
Kiara glanced at Vale, who was still sleeping soundly on the bench. She wondered what was going on in his mind.
"Well, one thing I am sure of from that video is that the monster used a sword, without a doubt. And it's clearly using a technique, one that I was familiar with." She continued, gazing at sleeping Vale with a difficult gaze on her face.
Without even saying it clearly, the couple understood what she meant. They looked at Vale, the leader of the team, even if he didn't claim to be one. Their gazes held various questions that they would keep to themselves.
Only Kiara had the guts to confront him. However, it was not the time to do that yet.
"I will keep an eye on him. Please continue training." She muttered softly as she turned her gaze back to the news.
"Well... if you say so." Taylor scratched his head as he moved back to his workout set with Jenny.
Kiara didn't look at them anymore as she kept her gaze on Vale. She didn't want him to feel uncomfortable when he woke up, so she decided to keep what she found out to herself. Unless he wanted to talk about it, the secret would only be known by the three of them.
'Why did you do everything by yourself? If you asked me, I would be willing to accompany you.' She thought as she furrowed her eyebrows slightly. 'It's not like I have anything to do.'
Her days had been boring when Vale left for Las Vegas without a word. She had been practicing with Taylor and Jenny, but it wasn't enough for her. It was only fun with him.
Her passion was sword. And she couldn't feel excited without him.
Kiara looked at Vale Gilstar, sleeping on the bench in front of her, wondering what other secrets he hid deep inside himself.

Vale woke up from his nap and stood up slowly. He stretched his body and yawned softly as he felt his energy back up. His condition had returned to top notch already.
When he regained all his senses, he felt a movement and something touched his shoulder. Looking to his left, he noticed Kiara standing beside him with a smile on her face.
"Woke up now?" She asked as she backed away from him, "You're a heavy sleeper."
"Kiara?" He blinked his eyes and shook his head lightly, "How long was I sleeping?"
"About 4 hours. It's almost noon now."
"That's a long sleep." He chuckled as he rose from a sitting position and stretched his body. "Any news I missed when I was sleeping?"
"Only chaos everywhere." Kiara shrugged her shoulders as she gestured toward the gym's entrance. "Everyone is freaking out because of the 'monster' doing in Las Vegas and New York. People are still rioting in front of the Apocalypse Emergency Department building right now."
She handed him her phone, which showed a large crowd surrounding the building. There were even reporters reporting the situation around there.
Looking at it, Vale nodded his head in understanding. He was expecting this reaction. His action was necessary for the government and other Survivors to make a decision regarding the dungeon.
And if he was lucky, there might be a change in the rules after this.
"Any news from our government agent?" He asked as he returned the phone to Kiara. She received the phone and was about to say no, but he suddenly felt a familiar presence outside the gym. "Forget that, Kiara. It seems Mr. Halych is a bit too polite to ask us directly to come to his office."
"What?" Kiara raised her eyebrows in confusion but didn't have time to ask as Vale moved toward the entrance. She followed suit and found the agent standing there with a frown on his face. "Mr. Halych?"
"Kiara, Vale. Perfect." The agent greeted them with a nod of his head, "Can we talk about some things? It's important."
"Sure." Vale nodded his head and gestured inside the gym. "Come on in."
They entered the gym and sat around a table nearby. Jenny went to get some water for the three of them. She came back in a few minutes and put the glasses on the table before joining her husband standing behind Vale and Kiara like a guard.
Aleksy Halych looked at the group before him and smiled wryly. He had met many Survivors, but this team was different than he expected.
The two people he met before, Vale and Kiara, looked as calm as usual. They were anomalies even among Survivors, so he wasn't surprised. What surprised him was the two people behind them.
