[Chapter 544: Evita]
That evening, Nicole Kidman arrived at the hotel where Arthur and Catherine Zeta-Jones were staying. They enjoyed a sumptuous dinner together.
"Many female stars hope to play Isabelle in Henry James's novel, The Portrait of a Lady," Catherine Zeta-Jones said with envy. "Once it premieres next year, it will definitely get a lot of attention!"
Nicole Kidman glanced at Arthur, who was answering a call by the window. "Don't worry, with Arthur around, there will surely be a script that suits you. By the way, weren't you filming Titanic in the UK?"
"I wrapped up that project. I've recently been working on a superhero film, The Phantom," Catherine Zeta-Jones replied, nodding towards Arthur. "He's here too and planning to head back to America with him. Alright, I'm going to take a shower. You keep him company for now!"
With that, Catherine Zeta-Jones got up and headed towards the bathroom.
Before long, Arthur hung up the phone and joined Nicole Kidman. "Where did she go?"
"She went to take a shower," Nicole Kidman leaned against Arthur's shoulder. "You're getting pretty smooth at this, why did you ask me to come over?"
"Yeah, I missed you!" Arthur kissed Nicole Kidman lightly. "I just had a vacation villa bought at the Gold Coast in Queensland. You can manage it for me. We can go on vacations more often!"
Nicole Kidman smiled. "I bought a high-rise apartment near the Sydney Harbour Bridge too; it's being renovated. If you don't want to come to the farm with me, staying in Sydney is fine too."
"That's a possibility," Arthur replied, as he removed the woman's top. "But I don't see you staying in Sydney for long."
Nicole Kidman felt Arthur's hands on her body. "Arthur, I'm 29 this year."
"Yeah, still looking stunning," Arthur chuckled, rubbing her chest. "What's up?"
Nicole Kidman wrapped her arms around Arthur, leaning into his ear. "I want to have a kid by the time I'm 30. After that, I won't care how many women you have; you can have your fun however you like!"
Arthur was taken aback initially but understood Nicole Kidman's meaning; Galaxy was about to go public.
His fortune would surely skyrocket in the future.
"Alright, no protection from now on," Arthur agreed, understanding that Nicole had been with him for several years already. "What are you worried about? You think I'd just ditch you?"
Nicole Kidman smiled, removing Arthur's pants. "Who knows? Young and beautiful women come and go every year; I won't always be this way!"
Nicole Kidman knew Arthur understood her intention; having a child would tie him down, giving their future child a stake in his assets.
Not long after, Nicole Kidman found herself resting on Arthur's lap. "Aren't you planning to have kids with Winona?"
"Ah, she's still young and in her prime," Arthur said while caressing the woman softly, envisioning a future with many children.
Eventually, Nicole Kidman felt exhausted, collapsing onto the couch.
When Catherine Zeta-Jones finished her shower, she came out laughing, teasing Nicole, "You've already given up so soon?"
"Your turn to step up," Nicole Kidman weakly replied.
Catherine Zeta-Jones moved to Arthur's side on the couch. "Honey, do you still have the energy?"
Arthur slid his hand into the woman's bathrobe and simply smiled, "Why don't you find out?"
"Alright then," Catherine Zeta-Jones quickly grabbed a pillow, placing it on the floor, kneeling in front of Arthur.
"Hmm," Arthur gripped the couch, enjoying her attention.
Nicole Kidman walked over, leaned down, and kissed Arthur warmly. "I'm going to take a shower; let's rest well tonight."
"From now on, I'll make sure you have plenty of pleasure..."
...
After the weekend, Nicole Kidman returned to the set of The Portrait of a Lady, while Catherine Zeta-Jones accompanied Arthur back to the United States.
Time moved to February, with award ceremonies for the Directors Guild, Screen Actors Guild, and Production Guild taking place consecutively; Oscar buzz became more intense!
At the Ritz-Carlton in Beverly Hills, the film adaptation of the musical Evita, by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, was officially announced.
Directed by Alan Parker, starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas among others.
Excited, Madonna had just wrapped up a conversation with Michael Jackson when she noticed Arthur Smith.
"Hi, Arthur, good evening!"
Arthur smiled, hugging her. "I heard from the director and producers that you trained for three months in vocal lessons for this movie. And you spent four months in the recording studio recording 49 tracks. I believe this film is going to be a hit!"
"Wow, if even Arthur Smith believes it, I'm even more confident!" Madonna exclaimed, astonished to see Arthur, who once played a minor role in Dick Tracy, now a Hollywood entertainment mogul.
In Dick Tracy, Warren Beatty directed and starred in the lead role alongside the sexy Madonna, while Arthur had merely played a sidekick to Al Pacino's villain!
"Having the Queen of Pop onboard makes Evita already a big deal," Arthur said, clinking glasses with Madonna, pouring himself a drink from a waiter's tray. "By the way, your Maverick Records company is pretty impressive!"
In 1992, Madonna partnered with associates to create Maverick Entertainment, including Maverick Records and Maverick Film Productions.
Arthur was particularly impressed that Maverick Records collaborated with Warner Music, forming a twelve-year album release contract. Warner also owned 40% of Maverick Records, while Madonna and her two partners held 20% each.
Hearing Arthur mention it, Madonna smiled. "Arthur, Galaxy Records has signed a contract with Janet Jackson too."
"I've always worked with Warner Music," she added.
Madonna, though bold, was always level-headed. Even as a global pop icon, she never challenged capital. While Galaxy Records was a new company, it had the backing of Galaxy Group, and stepping on either Warner or Galaxy was not something she could afford.
"Yeah, but it's a pity," she mused. The two biggest pop stars before the millennium -- Michael Jackson and Madonna -- both had no ties to Galaxy.
