Capítulo 405: Chapter 405: Michael Ovitz
The entire Biltmore Millennium Hotel was wrapped in a thick Christmas atmosphere. After Arthur finished chatting with Charles Johnson, he bumped into Disney's new president, Michael Ovitz.
"Arthur, Merry Christmas," Michael Ovitz, full of spirit and enthusiasm for his work, greeted Arthur cheerfully.
Although negotiations with General Electric about acquiring NBC were shelved, talks with Capital Cities/ABC and CBS networks were still ongoing.
Arthur smiled at him sympathetically. "Sticking with CAA wouldn't be so bad, would it? True, the rise of UTA is quite a headache for you, but CAA still has plenty of top Hollywood directors, producers, stars, and singers, as well as writers. Why venture into Disney then? Do you think you can outdo Jeffrey Katzenberg?"
Michael Ovitz squinted his eyes. "I was just getting into Hollywood when you were probably just getting out of your mother's arms. Hollywood is a place for connections and resources. Even if Galaxy acquires MGM, do you think they can rival Disney? It's surprising that our Hollywood golden boy is so naive!"
Arthur lit a cigarette. "If Michael Eisner said these things to my face, at least it would carry some weight. You, a guy who only makes sneaky moves with star contracts behind the scenes, since when could you make it to the big stage? Focus on dealing with DreamWorks poaching Disney animators. Jeffrey Katzenberg was the driving force behind Disney animation's glory and is almost revered by young animators!"
Michael Ovitz laughed. "That's none of your concern. You will never understand Disney's greatness. A meteor's brilliance lasts only a moment!"
Arthur looked at Michael Ovitz with the gaze of someone appreciating an idiot. "You don't think you're going to succeed Eisner's position, do you? The position of Disney's president isn't just coveted by Jeffrey Katzenberg. Do you realize how many people you've blocked, being a mere agent stepping into such a role at Disney?"
Shaking his head, Arthur continued, "When you're kicked out of Disney, if you're willing to perform a funny dance on Galaxy MGM's celebration table, I might consider hiring you!"
With that, Arthur left the Biltmore Millennium Hotel without looking back.
Michael Ovitz, meanwhile, was fuming. After stepping in as Disney president, Roy Disney led the animation department in rejecting his leadership and reporting directly to Eisner.
Joe Roth, the head of Disney movies, had hoped to advance from 20th Century Fox to Disney, especially after Katzenberg's departure.
But then, Michael Ovitz came along!
Now, Michael Ovitz was only handling tasks Eisner didn't want. Desperate to prove his worth, Ovitz found himself with limited power.
He aimed to sign one or two star record deals for Disney's Hollywood Records, using his connections.

Leaving the Biltmore Millennium Hotel, Arthur went straight to nearby Pershing Square. Lee Boo-Jin had come to Los Angeles specially from Boston.
As for Michael Ovitz, Arthur completely ignored him now. Ditching familiar CAA business to be Eisner's tool? Forget it.
"Hey, Arthur, you're here," Lee Boo-Jin greeted him, delighted.
Arthur hugged her and passionately kissed her amidst the Christmas crowd in Pershing Square.
After the kiss, Arthur held her as they sat on a bench. "How's Boston handling that Atlantic hurricane swirling from the East Coast?"
"The coastal regions of South Carolina, Rhode Island, and Long Island, New York, are heavily affected," Lee Boo-Jin explained casually.
"Christmas in Los Angeles is so lively, and the weather is definitely milder!"
Arthur nodded. "Yeah, winter here is bearable. Are you planning to return to South Korea soon?" he asked.
Lee Boo-Jin nodded. "Yes, next year I'm officially taking over Seoul's Shilla Hotel. We plan to partner with Ritz-Carlton to build a high-quality resort hotel in Korea."
"No problem. When I was in Japan, I talked about opening a Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo's Roppongi with Mori Building Co., Ltd. Korea deserves one too!"
Arthur wasn't that concerned, just preparing for the upcoming Asian financial crisis. Samsung Electronics was in his sights.
"By the way, there are many Christians in Korea, right?"
"Oh, about a third of the population, so Christmas is widely celebrated there too."
"Come on, let's head back to the hotel," Arthur said. He wasn't too concerned about Korea right now, maybe in a couple of years.

Early in the morning, a loud sound broke the tranquility of the Beverly Hills Four Seasons Hotel bedroom.
"Arthur," Lee Boo-Jin clung to him tightly. "Today's Christmas, you promised to take me out to sea."
"Yeah," Arthur kissed her chest. "There's plenty of time left. Let me show you what I've got!"
"Mm... mm..." Satisfied, Lee Boo-Jin wrapped her legs around his waist. "Arthur, I've always known you're great..."
After an unknown amount of time, Arthur rolled off her, holding the exhausted Lee Boo-Jin, and smilingly praised, "Better than in Boston!"
Lee Boo-Jin lay on his chest, gasping. "After returning to Korea next year, I might not come to America as often."
Arthur nodded indifferently. "You can always fly. I can visit you in Korea too."
He rubbed her chest and comforted her. "Don't worry, I won't let my woman suffer!"
"Mm..."
