The sun began to rise over the town of Lewis, casting long shadows across the deserted streets. Kang stood at the edge of the town, his gaze fixed on the horizon. His recent battles had sharpened his skills, but Lewis had begun to feel like a dead end. The low-tiers there, though in need of protection, could no longer offer him the challenges he sought.
As he prepared to leave, Kang glanced back at the town. He had made his mark, but the allure of further honing his abilities called to him. Lewis had been a proving ground, but now it was time to move on.
The drive back to Wellston was long and contemplative. Kang was determined to reconnect with the people who mattered most to him, his family—Remi and his mother. He had spent too long distancing himself from them, and the realization that he needed their support more than ever had finally sunk in.
When Kang arrived at his home, his mother was the first to greet him. Her face lit up with a mixture of relief and joy. "Kang! You're back!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a tight embrace. Her worry lines had deepened over the months, but her eyes softened with warmth as she held her son.
"Hey, Mom," Kang said softly, returning the hug. "I'm sorry I've been away for so long."
"Don't apologize," she said, brushing a tear from her eye. "You've been through so much. I'm just glad you're here now."
Remi arrived soon after, her face breaking into a wide grin when she saw Kang. "Look who decided to grace us with his presence!" she teased, wrapping him in a hug. "I hope you're not planning to disappear again anytime soon."
Kang chuckled, feeling a sense of normalcy that had been missing for too long. "I'm here to stay for a while. I need to reconnect with everyone and take a break from all the fighting."
Remi smirked, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "So, how's it going with Seraphina? I hear she's been wondering where you disappeared to."
Kang's face flushed slightly. "What about her?"
Remi raised an eyebrow and grinned. "Oh, you know. I've seen you two together. It's obvious there's something more than just friendship there."
Kang tried to hide his embarrassment. "Can we not talk about this now?"
His mother, catching on, joined in with a playful nudge. "Oh, I've noticed it too. It's nice to see you have someone you care about."
Kang tried to deflect, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks. "Seriously, can we not? I'm here to spend time with both of you."
Remi and his mother laughed, their teasing good-natured. They spent the rest of the day catching up, sharing stories, and enjoying each other's company. The warmth and comfort of home were a welcome change from the cold, relentless grind of training and battles.
As the evening approached, Kang's mother observed him closely. She noticed the changes in his physique—the increased muscle mass, the new hardness of his body. Her eyes were filled with a mix of pride and concern.
"Kang," she said softly, "I can see how much you've grown, both in strength and appearance. I'm proud of the progress you've made, but I can't help but worry about how hard you've been pushing yourself. Are you taking care of yourself?"
Kang looked down, appreciating her concern. "I'm doing what I can, Mom. I know I've been pushing myself, but it's all part of my journey. I promise I'm not ignoring my health."
She nodded, though the worry lines on her face remained. "Just make sure you don't lose sight of what's truly important. We're here for you, no matter what."
As they gathered around the dinner table, the conversation shifted to lighter topics. Remi, ever the playful tease, kept bringing up the subject of Seraphina, much to Kang's chagrin.
"So," Remi said with a mischievous glint in her eye, "when are you going to make a move? I'm sure Seraphina would be thrilled to hear from you."
Kang groaned, trying to change the subject. "Can we just enjoy the dinner? I don't need more teasing right now."
His mother chuckled softly, joining in on the teasing. "Oh, I'm sure she'll appreciate it when you finally get around to it."
Kang couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of contentment. The teasing, the warmth of his family, and the comfort of home were all reminders of what he had been fighting for.
Later that night, after dinner, Kang took a quiet moment to reflect on his journey. He walked outside, looking up at the stars. The challenges he had faced had shaped him, but now, surrounded by his loved ones, he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
His thoughts drifted back to his training and the path ahead. He knew he had to continue pushing himself, but he also understood the importance of balancing that with time for those who mattered most. Remi and his mother had always been there for him, and he realized that he needed to be there for them too.

As he re-entered the house, he smiled at his family. "Thanks for being here," he said. "I really needed this."
His mother and Remi looked at him with understanding and warmth. "We're always here for you," his mother said softly.
Remi nudged him playfully. "And don't think we're letting you off the hook about Seraphina anytime soon."
Kang laughed, feeling lighter than he had in a long time. With his family by his side, he felt ready to face the challenges ahead.
