Capítulo 1: Wellston

The early morning sun filtered through the blinds of Kang's modest apartment, marking the beginning of a pivotal day. His older sister, Remi, was already bustling about, preparing for their departure to Wellston Academy. Remi, a year ahead of Kang and known for her formidable presence at the academy, was his main source of support and encouragement.

"Wake up, Kang!" Remi called out, her voice filled with enthusiasm as she placed a breakfast tray on the small table beside his bed. "It's your first day at Wellston!"

Kang stirred from his slumber, rubbing his eyes as he glanced around the modest room. "Thanks, Remi. I'm up."

After a quick breakfast, Kang and Remi set out for Wellston Academy. The grandeur of the campus and the display of students' abilities left Kang feeling both awe and anxiety. Remi's supportive presence was a comforting shield against his nervousness.

At the academy gates, Remi gave Kang a reassuring hug.

"Remember, you don't need an ability to be strong. Just be yourself."

As Remi joined her peers, Kang made his way to his first class. The campus was alive with students demonstrating their powers—flames flickering, objects levitating, and energy fields crackling. Kang felt the pressure of the stares and whispers as he navigated through the bustling crowd.

Entering the classroom, Kang took a seat at the back. The students around him displayed their abilities, making Kang's lack of power even more apparent. His eyes lingered on the various demonstrations—students casually manipulating their abilities, their eyes glowing with vibrant colors. Though he was impressed, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy. He quickly masked his emotions, focusing on the lesson.

The teacher started discussing the use of different abilities and their impact on battles and personal growth. As the conversation shifted towards students showcasing their abilities, Kang's heart sank. He knew it was only a matter of time before someone asked him about his own power.

Sure enough, the conversation turned to a more personal note, and a student turned to Kang with a smirk.

"Hey, Kang, what's your ability?"

Kang paused, a faint sigh escaping him. He kept his voice steady.

"I don't have an ability."

A ripple of surprise and muted laughter spread through the classroom. Kang could feel the shift in atmosphere, the judgmental glances and whispered comments piercing through his composure.

"Seriously? No ability?" a student whispered, incredulous.

"How can he even be here?" another added, their voice dripping with disdain.

Kang's face flushed with embarrassment, but he forced himself to remain calm. He shifted his gaze to the teacher, trying to focus on the lesson, but the whispers and sidelong glances remained a constant distraction.

As the class continued, the students' abilities were a stark reminder of what Kang lacked. The constant demonstrations and the casual discussions about high-tier powers felt like an ever-present contrast to his own limitations.

The bell signaling the end of class rang, and Kang gathered his things, his heart heavy with the weight of the day's judgments. He headed out into the hallway, hoping to escape the scrutiny of his peers. However, the relief was short-lived as he was soon confronted by Jaxon, a mid-tier student known for his enhanced strength.

Jaxon, a towering figure with brown hair and glowing green eyes, blocked Kang's path. His imposing presence made the hallway feel even smaller. With a sneer, Jaxon addressed Kang.

"So, the cripple survived the day. Think you can just walk around here without knowing your place?"

Kang tried to maintain his composure. "I'm just trying to get to my next class."

Jaxon's grin widened, revealing a row of sharp teeth. "Let's see how tough you really are."

Without warning, Jaxon shoved Kang against the wall with a force that made Kang's vision blur. The impact rattled him, but he quickly regained his focus. Jaxon's glowing green eyes and enhanced strength made every movement seem effortless and menacing.

Kang pushed himself off the wall, wincing from the pain. "I'm not afraid of you."

Jaxon's taunts continued as he lunged at Kang, his powerful punches landing with crushing force. Kang, struggling to keep up, dodged and deflected Jaxon's attacks as best he could. Each blow from Jaxon sent shockwaves through Kang's body, and despite his best efforts, he found himself being pushed back.

The hallway was packed with students who watched with a mix of excitement and shock. Some were amused by Jaxon's dominance, while others were taken aback by Kang's unexpected resistance. The realization that Kang was actually fighting back, rather than just accepting the beating, caused whispers of surprise to ripple through the crowd.

Just as Jaxon was about to deliver a finishing blow, Remi appeared in the hallway, her eyes glowing a brilliant blue as she harnessed her lightning ability. The crackling energy around her caused students to step back in awe and trepidation.

"Get away from my brother!" Remi commanded, her voice cutting through the tension. She stepped directly between Kang and Jaxon, her lightning crackling dangerously close to Jaxon.

Jaxon, taken aback and visibly intimidated by Remi's presence, staggered back. "This isn't over," he growled before retreating down the hallway, his green eyes fading from view.

As the lightning dissipated, Remi rushed to Kang's side, her face etched with concern. "Kang, are you okay?"

Kang, barely able to stand, looked up at his sister with a mix of exhaustion and frustration. "I'm fine. I just... I couldn't handle him."

Remi's worry deepened as she helped Kang to his feet. "You're hurt. We need to get you to the nurse."

Kang's shoulders slumped, the weight of his defeat pressing heavily on him. As they walked toward the nurse's office, he couldn't shake the feeling of inadequacy. Despite his best efforts, he had been outmatched and had failed to protect himself. The support from Remi was invaluable, yet the contrast between his struggles and the abilities of others only magnified his internal conflict.

As they reached the nurse's office, the low-tier students who had witnessed the fight approached Kang and Remi. Their expressions were filled with genuine concern and sympathy.

"Are you okay?" one of them asked.

"We saw what happened. Jaxon can be really tough, but you held your ground."

Kang managed a tired smile. "Thanks. I appreciate it."

Remi's concern did not subside as she accompanied Kang through his treatment. "Kang, I know today was rough, but you did your best. We'll get through this, okay?"

Kang nodded, though the weight of the day's events hung heavily on him. "I know, Remi. I just... need to figure things out."

As they walked home together, Remi continued to offer words of encouragement, though Kang struggled to find solace in them. The day had been a harsh introduction to Wellston Academy, and the disparity between his abilities and those of his peers was glaringly evident.

That night, as Kang lay in bed, he reflected on the day's events. The fight with Jaxon had been a painful reminder of his own limitations. Despite the support from Remi and the few students who cared, Kang's resolve was tinged with self-doubt. The inner turmoil he felt was a stark contrast to the image he tried to present.

Tomorrow was a new opportunity to confront his challenges, but for now, he lay awake with a heavy heart. The journey ahead was uncertain, but Kang was determined to face it, even if it meant grappling with his own inner demons along the way.
