Chapter 108: The New Boss

Night had finally fallen, casting its darkness over the vast expanse of the First Gyre. The mighty fleet had successfully weathered the first two days of its journey and now pressed onward, sailing steadily south without any respite.

Inside the captain's quarters of the fleet's flagship, the fourth-rate ship 'Support', the lights shone brightly, illuminating the room. Only two people were present: Fleet Commander Newman and Byron, the latter having been summoned for this private audience. The two men sat across from each other at a dining table, the atmosphere slightly tense yet cordial.

"Captain Byron," Newman began, gesturing to the table with a smile, "I have a special treat for you. Try this bottle of Captain Morgan's rum, brought all the way from the Bantaan Islands. Let's see if it's to your liking."
