Finally, after a one-month time skip, Menma was being personally trained by Jiraiya, Tsunade, Kakashi, Hiruzen, and other key members of the village. Meanwhile, the Jonin were training hard, knowing that Orochimaru of the Sannin was in the village and had killed off the next generation of Konoha. They were determined to get revenge for their fallen comrades.
Orochimaru, meanwhile, was in his lab, screaming in pain from his numerous injuries. Kabuto was nowhere to be found, and Orochimaru had a bad feeling about it. He was not up to date with the information coming from Konoha, as Minato and Jiraiya had gone to great lengths to increase security. He had heard rumors that some clan heirs had died in the Forest of Death, and they believed it was his doing. Orochimaru gritted his teeth, knowing this complicated his plans, but he hoped to use it to his advantage once he healed.
A month passed, and the day of the finals of the Chunin Exams arrived—a day that would decide the fate of Konoha and the Elemental Nations. Naruto sat in the Kage booth, a bit confused by the situation. It seemed that the Raikage and the Tsuchikage had decided to combine their participants with Konoha's for the final part of the exams, supposedly to bring more business to Konoha. Minato was wary, suspecting it could be a scheme by Orochimaru to attack. The Fire Daimyo had accepted this arrangement, making the exams international, and potential enemies were now within Konoha.
Minato knew all he could do was increase security. Jiraiya and Tsunade were present to help. The other Kages began to arrive, with the Kazekage appearing first, followed by Onoki, who smirked at Minato as if to taunt him. Minato gritted his teeth. After some time, the Raikage arrived in a flash of lightning, smirking at Minato.
"Well, Lord Hokage, it's good to see you after such a long time," the Raikage said.
Minato looked at him with a serious expression. He wouldn't admit it, but he knew the Raikage had been getting faster over the years. Although Minato was confident he was still faster, if it came to an all-out battle, dealing with the Raikage and his brother could become complicated and drag on for a long time.
The Raikage's brother was also present, adding to the tension. Minato stood up as all the competitors finally arrived. He gave a long speech about the Will of Fire and the camaraderie between the nations, though even he could hardly believe the words coming out of his mouth. After the speech, the battles began, and Minato knew his hands would be full dealing with the Raikage and his brother.
Meanwhile, Guy was training even harder, to the point of ignoring even his LOVE for Kakashi, who was becoming increasingly worried about his old friend. But the day had finally arrived, and Minato looked down to see that Menma and Naruko were ready. He had trained Menma and Naruko personally, and they had become a lot stronger—easily Jonin-level. If they accessed Kurama's chakra, their level would increase even further, matching that of elite Jonin. Minato was pleased they had reached such a level, but he was troubled by the fact that neither Menma nor Naruko had a knack for the Flying Thunder God technique. This was causing him some concern, as his prized technique depended on it, and without them mastering it to at least a high level, it could be a problem.
On the other hand, he looked over to see Naruto, the master and heir to the Uzumaki and Namikaze clans. A surge of anger rose within him at the thought, as his sensei had convinced him that Naruto was unworthy, and his mind believed it too. But there was little he could do about the situation at the moment. However, today was the day Menma would challenge Naruto for the title in front of the four Kages. The Mizukage was still embroiled in civil war and couldn't be present, but this would be a good opportunity to announce it to the world. Minato hoped they would be able to proceed, and that Naruto wouldn't prove too powerful.
Meanwhile, in the Kage box, Tsunade was having an idle chat with the Raikage. After all, it had been a long time since Tsunade saved the Raikage's life.
He was surprised to see both of the Sannin present, realizing this could complicate their plans—but nothing was impossible.
Tsunade had secretly given Jiraiya a medicine that would gradually shut down Naruto's chakra network. Jiraiya had added it to Naruto's drink. Today was the day that Menma would claim his rightful position as the heir to the Uzumaki and Namikaze clans, while Naruto would be relegated to a side branch, similar to the Hyuga Clan's branch family. "The brat deserves it," Minato thought to himself.
Finally, Jiraiya spoke up, "Today is the day of the finals of the Chunin Exams. The other nations, who have been conducting their own Chunin Exams, have decided to demonstrate camaraderie between the Elemental Nations by sending their finalists to our exam for this day." The stadium was filled with people from all across the globe.
The first match began. "Do you honestly believe that the son of the Yellow Flash, who killed so many of our people, will get away with it? Today, you'll pay for your clan's crimes!" Kurotsuchi taunted.
Menma smirked. "Bring it," he replied, and the match began.
Despite Kurotsuchi's power and her use of Lava Release, she was no match for Menma, who was far too powerful. He even had to use a bit of Kurama's chakra, and the match ended in two minutes. Onoki was not pleased, but he had instructed Kurotsuchi not to go all out, saving her chakra for future battles.
