Capítulo 51: Chapter 50: The Brutal Reckoning

"Wind Disc, Tornado!" whispered Mu Nujiao softly, yet seriously. Her words, though faint, seemed to summon a violent, spiraling wind that gathered around her like a protective aura. Her delicate hands formed intricate signs, channeling her power into a destructive vortex that threatened to overwhelm everything in its path.

"Wind Disc, Tornado!" echoed Bai Cangfeng, his eyes gleaming with confidence as he followed suit. The two magicians combined their forces, amplifying the power of their magic, creating a twin vortex that spun with dangerous speed, the air crackling with their energy.

"Wind Disc, Tornado!" chanted Shen MingXiao, his voice joining the chorus of wind magic users. His presence added even more ferocity to the already terrifying storm they had created. The arena's atmosphere buzzed with the collective power of these three Intermediate Magicians.

As if answering the call of the wind, the earth trembled and cracked, but the spell did not stop there. The combined force of the three magicians whipped into a monstrous tornado, spiraling with fierce gusts of wind that could tear anything caught in its path to shreds. The audience gasped in awe, their eyes wide as they felt the raw power building within the spell.

"Fiery Fist, Explosion!" another voice roared. The heat in the arena intensified as flames erupted, wrapping around the caster's arm before shooting forward in a violent blast of fire. The raging inferno surged with an overwhelming power, aiming straight toward the enemies.

"Thunderbolt, Exploding Apex!" a third voice thundered, causing the sky to crack with lightning. Bolts of pure energy rained down from above, combining with the swirling tornado and the blazing fire, creating a maelstrom of elemental destruction.

"Violent Wave, Raging Waves!" came the next spell, as torrents of water burst from the ground, flooding the battlefield. The overwhelming combination of fire, wind, lightning, and water made it seem as though the very forces of nature were uniting to crush their opposition.

But Light stood there, calm, unfazed, a sinister glint in his eyes. His hand raised slightly as he gave his silent command to the terrifying creature that stood by his side, "Crush them." His words were cold, emotionless, yet they carried an undeniable authority.

The Corpse General, a towering undead monstrosity that radiated a terrifying aura, moved in response. Its body, built like a fortress of bone and rotting muscle, emitted a deathly stench as it advanced. With each step, the ground quaked beneath its weight, and the air grew colder. The mages' combined elemental attacks—wind, fire, lightning, and water—seemed insignificant before its unstoppable might.

With a single punch, the Corpse General obliterated the tornado that the trio had summoned. Wind energy dissipated as though it was nothing more than a passing breeze. Its fist, charged with the force of death itself, cut through the elemental onslaught, shattering their powerful spells as though they were fragile glass.

The arena erupted into gasps and cries of disbelief. How could one undead creature so effortlessly destroy the combined might of six Intermediate Magicians?

In the next instant, the Corpse General lunged forward with terrifying speed, faster than anyone could have anticipated. In mere moments, it was upon them. Bai Cangfeng, Shen MingXiao, and Mu Nujiao, who were closest to the creature, found themselves unable to react in time.

The Corpse General's massive hand crashed down upon Bai Cangfeng, crushing his arm in an instant. The sound of bones shattering echoed throughout the arena, sending a chill down the spines of everyone watching. Bai Cangfeng let out a scream of agony as he fell to the ground, clutching his mangled limb.

Next, the Corpse General's sharp hatchet swung through the air with terrifying precision. It slashed down at Mu Nujiao, its blade cutting through her defenses with ease. The weapon cleaved through her body, tearing from her shoulder down through her bust and slicing across her thigh. Blood sprayed into the air, and Mu Nujiao collapsed, her once graceful form now crumpled and broken on the ground.

Shen MingXiao, seeing his comrades fall so swiftly, tried to summon another spell, but the Corpse General was too fast. In the blink of an eye, it was upon him, crushing his leg underfoot before he could even finish his chant. He screamed, his voice filled with terror and pain, as the creature loomed over him, ready to finish him off.

The battle was over in mere moments. The Corpse General moved with inhuman speed, its brutal efficiency leaving no room for counterattacks. Each of the six magicians who had stood against it was now broken, defeated, and lying in pools of their own blood. The arena had descended into a shocked silence as the realization of their defeat sank in.

After a few moments, the entire arena exploded in chaos! Gasps, cries, and shouts filled the air as the spectators grappled with what they had just witnessed.

They lost, they actually lost.

Their defeat signified something far more than just a failed battle. Light, alone, would now sit on all the public resources that were supposed to be distributed to the new students. Resources that they had all fought so hard for, resources that were supposed to support them in their cultivation.

"We went through so much just to get into this institution for the extra resources, but now, everything is gone, all gone," one of the students lamented, his voice filled with despair.

A nightmare had fallen upon the new students from the other Schools. The prospect of their future had crumbled before their eyes, leaving nothing but the bitter taste of failure.

"Dean Xiao, what… what do we do now?!" one of the deans asked in a panic. "Can't you see that chaos has overwhelmed the crowd?"

"Why don't we convince Light to give up? This is getting out of hand," suggested Zhong Zhenghua, his voice trembling with unease.

"Rules are rules! They are not to be broken!" replied Dean Xiao with a cold humph, rejecting Zhou Zhenghua's suggestion without a second thought.

With a frown, Dean Xiao looked at the messy situation unfolding in the arena and let out a loud, commanding shout. His voice boomed like thunder, silencing the crowd in an instant.

"Enough! This marks the end of the competition! The resources for this current batch of newcomers will be placed under the Undead Element!" announced Dean Xiao with no hesitation.

Without giving anyone a chance to argue, he continued, "In truth, the resources given to you this semester are more than enough for all of you. Right now, what all of you couldn't accept is not that your resources are gone. You just couldn't accept that the resources are being given to one person."

Dean Xiao's words cut through the crowd like a blade, striking everyone to the core.

"Why didn't a single one of you object when the idea of distributing the resources of the Summoning and Undead Element was proposed if they defeated less than a hundred students?" he shouted angrily, his disappointment evident.

His words struck like lightning, causing the older students who had been cultivating in the Pearl Institution to lower their heads in shame. They had remained silent, and now they had to face the consequences of their inaction.

If they had disagreed with the idea from the start, Dean Xiao would have scrapped the notion of giving all the resources to one person. But it was too late now.

It is very easy to garner hostile attention after becoming the brilliant kid next door that outperformed everyone, Light thought to himself with a smirk.

*Sigh*, fine, so be it! Since I robbed everyone of their resources, no one from the new students will like me anymore!

"Dean Xiao mentioned that he will convert all public resources into my own cultivation resources. I wonder how much they will be?" Light muttered under his breath.

After the events that transpired during the competition, Light's daily life had changed rapidly. His dormitory, which had once been lively and full, now felt empty.

There were only three people left in the room: Light, Zhang Pinggu, and Zhao Manyan. The other three roommates, fearing that they would be dragged into the chaos surrounding Light, had quickly submitted applications to move into other dormitories.

Thus, only the trio remained in the same dormitory, their dynamic shifting as a result of everything that had happened. Light was patient, though. He knew that it would take some time before he could access the rewards and resources granted to him. Procedures had to be followed, and though others may have been in a rush, Light was not.

Time passed quickly, and a month slipped by before anyone realized it.

"Hey! Did you guys know that Mui Nujiao did something that caused the entire school to view her as a goddess?" Zhang Pinggu exclaimed as he stormed into the dormitory, his face flushed with excitement.

Zhang Pinggu continued without waiting for a response, "Mui Nujiao took responsibility for what happened during the competition and donated an equivalent amount of the resources Light won to everyone in the school under the name of the Mu Family."

Zhao Manyan, who had been quietly listening, thought for a moment before nodding in understanding. "It's just a strategy," he remarked casually.

"Each year, every major aristocratic family spends a great deal of resources to recruit both graduated and undergraduate students from prestigious schools. The Mu family is just doing this earlier than expected to gain favor with the freshmen," Zhao Manyan explained.

Light raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised by Zhao Manyan's insight.
