Nick's Older Brother

The second day of classes was about to end when Professor Gerardo suddenly dropped a bomb that left all the students stunned.

"Alright, for your special assignment, everyone."

"Argh..." Groans were heard all around the class, but Gerardo continued, "It's just a test for next week; don't be so pessimistic."

After handing out the assignments, he announced, "Since orientation day ended, tomorrow you'll meet with your other subject teachers. As you know, I'm your advisor and also your science teacher."

"What?!"

"What the heck did he say?"

"Does he think he's Stein?"

Gerardo's face twitched upon hearing some not-so-pleasant comments.

"Alright, I'm a bit offended; how about I give you a second task?"

"Quiet, Professor Gerardo is our advisor and teacher, and he could also be my dad."

The whole class laughed at that comment.

Although it seemed like the whole class was very close, it was only Mike and Alicia's group that made noise. Others simply laughed at the silliness of these groups trying to stand out.

The "top students" had already formed a group.

"In reality, your orientation day should have been yesterday. However, there were some delays. You'll learn more about this tomorrow. For now, you can go home."

A slight applause erupted as the students heard they could leave.

"Hey! Jon! Wake up!" Alicia approached the bench where Jonathan was sleeping.

Since it was the last class, it took him quite a while before he woke up.

But before he could say anything, Alicia's friends called her from outside.

"Alicia, let's go home now!"

"Ah, I'm coming!" Alicia turned around and found Yina still by Jonathan's side, playing video games.

'Is she waiting for him?'

"Do you want to go to karaoke first?"

"Yes!" Alicia ignored Yina and jumped towards her friends.

After Alicia left, it took Jonathan a long time to stand up from his seat. He grabbed his bag and left the classroom. He walked to the school gate and turned the corner before turning around and asking, "Yina, why are you following me?"

"Eh?" Yina was startled and quickly said, "I thought we were going to talk about what we left pending."

"Better invite me to eat; let's go to your house." Jonathan wasn't in the mood to continue pretending, so he only took liberties with Yina to not pretend.

"My house?"

"Of course, I'd like to visit your house so your family knows you now have the best friend in the world." Jonathan said as he took Yina's backpack, helping her along the way.

Yina was scared, thinking about all the things that could go wrong, so she was about to refuse, but when she wanted to do so, they had arrived at her house.

"Is your father home? I brought him a bottle of wine; I think he'll like it." Jonathan pulled out a bottle of wine that was snatched by Yina and thrown into a garbage can outside the house.

"No alcohol, let's go." Yina dragged Jonathan to her room, and to her surprise, no one was there.

The house was huge, practically a mansion, so being alone in a place like this, Jonathan understood Yina more, who was introverted.

When Yina closed the door, she went to the bathroom to change. She handed the TV remote to Jonathan, who began to browse through countless channels full of commercials.

'Hmm, two young people alone in a room seem very dangerous... God, fate is tempting me, but I'm more mature than this. I suppose anyone in my situation would lose their mind, but at least I'm maintaining my dignity.' Jonathan took off his upper uniform and pulled out a t-shirt from his backpack.

Romantic feelings didn't excite him, especially not with a girl; that would be criminal just to think about. But now that he was here, Jonathan was seriously considering future investments.

When Yina returned, she found Jonathan lying on her bed, playing with his cellphone. "So, should we order something to eat?"

"I..."

"Don't worry, this time I'll pay." Jonathan, like anyone who quickly gains confidence, felt comfortable enough to stop making Yina uncomfortable.

...

Wednesday morning, the school bell rang again.

"Jonathan and Yina, they're calling you to the principal's office." Professor Gerardo said this as soon as he entered the classroom.

Yina's heart raced, and a numbness behind her head began to increase.

Walking alongside an unconcerned Jonathan made her even more tense.

"I wonder what they want from us." Jonathan casually asked as he picked his nose.

'Don't be stupid! Aren't you even a little nervous!?' Yina screamed in her mind, furious at her friend's behavior.

When they knocked on the principal's office door, a voice responded from inside.

"Come in."

When Jonathan pushed the door, he and Yina saw the principal, an elderly man, and a couple of police officers.

"Jonathan and Yina?" The principal stood up.

"Yes, Principal?" Yina lowered her head, while Jonathan simply nodded.

"Please sit down; these officers need something from you two."

Just hearing this made Yina sweat. This reaction was obvious to the officers and especially to the old detective.

"Is it because we had lunch by the emergency exit? Don't worry, Yina and I have never had sex." Jonathan immediately started denying any accusations against them while taking Yina's trembling hand.

Detective Anderson, who was drinking coffee, spit it out upon hearing that question.

"What are you talking about?" Yina pulled her hand away from Jonathan angrily.

"I'm not lying; we've never had sex. I even think my tool is barely developing; damn it, we're just friends."

"Quiet!" The principal shouted in embarrassment upon hearing all those words.
